any idea why the semi hollow is almost half the price of the solid body? i cant imagine the solid body sounding any better, this sounds absolutely gorgeous.
I bought an ASAT (1994) Classic very simular to the one Greg is playing here. Great sounding guitar, amazing fit and finish. Top quality. Love it.
I also own a Fender American Standard Telecaster. Played side by side they are quite different indeed. I wouldn't say that one sounds better than the other though. Just different. Fender brighter. Asat smoother. All good.
We all know the secret to a great sounding guitar.....go home and PRACTICE!
I have one of these, an ash with clear orange finish and natural binding. Been playing 45 years and had many Fenders--these are better than Fender Custom shop guitars. They are bargains when used, great guitars.
@CodyCEngdahl This one is the chinesse import version, very nice though.
I have the original (american) and the sound is very full and crisp compared to an american telecaster. Different character, but both are great guitars.
I'm pretty sure all the electronics in the cheaper model G&L's are the same as the higher quality Models the only difference is the wood and other parts are better on the American G&L's
Not sure if it's true but I thought all parts of the guitars (electrics and woods) in the tribute series were the same as the US but were just assembled in Indonesia?
this tune is beautiful!! what is it? did you write it?

On some g&l's the tone knob sweeps the midrange and keeps the bass and treble intact.Kind of sounds like a wah-wah.Does this model do that?

Hi Greg,
Awesome playing as usual!
Which do you prefer and why - G&L ASAT Classic or Telecaster Custom Shop? I can't decide between the two and can't afford both :(

Was Leo Fender's guitars better than the Fenders that are so popular? What is the differences in Leo's designs and pickups than the Fenders of today?

A very interesting point do you have a G&L

Sounds warmer than a Fender. Do you know much about the electronics in it?
fendermytc90 2 years ago
Magnetic field pickups designed by Leo himself and made by G&L. These guitars are fantastic and some say, more Fender than Fender.
