Now THIS is the most educational video I have ever seen in the field of driving a commercial trash truck. Seen at 0:19, you show to the audience how a trash truck driver operates the onboard forklift that raises an lowers the dumpster. Not many videos feature this. I am glad that Allied Waste lets you film these ride alongs. I am glad that you film these ride alongs in various parts of the truck.

In Sweden we frontloaders drivers don´t get out of the truck at any time while we´re working! Is this the american way of your work? Wouldn´t be much easier to use a side loader truck instead?

Yup it is a Heil. I couldnt use the stand-up side because the switch to the right side is broken. I didnt mind jumping out at every house. Only had about 125 homes to pickup. We just got two 2010 resi fels.

"Late out, a day behind and people still cant get their garbage out" I never understood why. The same garbage truck comes by every week, sometimes twice a week at the same time. Some morons manage to forget every week that the truck comes by. Why is that? Great vid.

I understand there are better things to worry about. However I dont agree. How long can anyone go without taking out the trash before youre up to your neck in your own filth? Just my opinion ;)

I deleted my comment due to poor grammar LOL. I think what this person that posted this video was getting at is when people forget to take out their garbage and he has to wait on them to bring it out. My original comment was stating that, trash is not a priority like he wants it to be.

There is a round mirror above the long side view mirror thats faced upward so you can watch the bucket

Im not sure if Heil made it or it came from a supplier but my guess is the heil makes it since it came with the truck when it was new.

The South Grand Island Bridges, I have tubed down that section of the Niagara River many times with nothing but my shorts, beer and an inner tube. Great video.

you had the pump on from 55 second too 1:15 you were goin down the road at a good clip cause the red light was on the whole time witch tells you the pump is on. correct me if im wrong

Green light is the pump. I believe that red light was for the top door.

not when to take lunch but records how long you sat for lunch or breaks. They gave my a lite route since i was on the FEL. We can't drive at highway speed with pump on.

haha yeah more and more high tech. We have paperless routes. Everything we do is done with the computer. Leave/return yard, lunch, breaks, down time, feul, res and com stops. everything. Pain in the ass at first but it saves my ass we people call and say I wasn't there but the computer doesn't lie.

Mon - thurs I have a cart route. If I have the truck i'll make another vid but unlikely i'll use the truck for many more months

So you guys get the fourth off, we work it here. We only get christmas new years day and thanksgiving off, then we are a day behind. Its always been that way here but you wouldnt believe how many people dont put their trash out, or come running out saying "I didnt know you guys work today!" Its the same annoying crap every year. On monday Im gonna have lots of holiday out late courtesies to go back on.

Thats ok though because I get paid my earned hourly rate for that.

In the 2 towns that we pick up recycling only we do pick up on holidays like yours. In my opinion I would rather pick-up on these holidays so were not a day behind and have to work saturdays.
