  • yeah, here piano is very hard out of tune...

but is its fixed, it will be like bach played it by himself

  • tough piece; I think she's a catch

  • She is pretty good ! :)

  • Tune dat bitch

  • god dang, don't even play the pianur and I kud hurd dat is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

  • Yes, you seem to be working out the kinks of a few things, but you have enormous potential- I hope you keep at it!

Don't forget this is an monstrously difficult piece! Good job!

  • NO NO E NOOOO.BACH VA SUONATO AL CLAVICEMBALO NON AL PIANOFORTE .BACH AL PIANOFORTE E' ORRIBILE ANCHE SE SUONATO DAL MIGLIOR PIANISTA DEL MONDO!!!!!MA NON LO VOLETE CAPIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • This piano is out of tune and needs voicing. How careless ! ...but then the performance was boringly mechanical.

  • The other two comments are both right. The piano is *way* out of tune, but if it was tuned this would be very well played. And there is *so* much more to the music than just the notes, if you only memories the notes you'll never get it. She's doing just fine, and as this is an old video, I'd expect she's doing MUCH better by now! :D

  • Good rhythm.

  • Com'on Get the damn piano at least a poor tuner...!!

  • very nice, how much for prostitute?

  • Whatever your skill, if the piano is not perfect, the performance can only be poor.

This piano is out of tune and not properly regulated (dampers stink).

Too bad ! If you want to become a great artist (and I believe you can), Please, Please, Please, call a very good tuner !

  • Wow! Sounds great!

  • She´s going to do fine. Just keep working.

  • Lovely simply charming.....Mahalo from Hawai'i!

  • I wish you had used a better quality mic to capture her elegant playing.

For a freshman, it's a truly a delight listening to her rendition.

Best of Luck to you guys :)

  • Thank you for playing this! You are good! Don't listen to all the "experts" who find it necessary to comment negatively. I love people who simply love to play and do it the best way they can! You play better than me! Just enjoy it. Music is for the heart not for experts!

  • @alexvannes Thank god for the sane people in this world (like you). I feel anger every time i read the negative 'constructive criticism' these self styled 'experts' feel they have to dish out. Maybe they feel they owe it to the world, or maybe they are just ignorant fools on their own behalf.

  • @nbambi1990 I agree with you there. If all you do is tear someone down about a performance, you aren't helping them. You might make their nerves worse and make playing harder for them, actually. But I feel fairly frustrated myself when I see remarks of people telling her they think she's no good when they don't realize how much work it takes to be able to do even this.

A good piano tuning and keeping up with piano practice is all she needs... the talent is there after all.

  • what a luck, having a sister like her. beautiful music, by beautiful people, for beautiful people.i adore her

  • Wonderful! Thank you!

    Daniel Léo Simpson

    San Francisco Bay area

  • Great performance.

    Thanks for posting this video.

  • say truly tis is very good ..... good performance !..... keep upload other piano piece ..

  • Lovely, well done.

  • id do er

  • Nicely done. Now as for that piano...

  • i love you

  • i infinitely prefer my BAch played by 5 year olds, don't you?

  • I actually like this Sinfonia, but where's the rest of the Partita? Anyway, you're doing some great things there, and if you have an idea of what to achieve and record yourself like you did now and listen to it, I'm positive that it can get even much much better.

  • The piano sounds out of tune. It could be the video. The lady has talent.

  • Pretty? Sounds boring, no spirit, no articulation! This music must have a life!

  • Well done, your sister

  • Kush seat!

  • that's good (:

    she's doing a good job (:

  • Nice job! ... but--if I'm not mistaken--the piano is slightly out of tune...

  • continued from previous comment...So I would suggest that you practice very slowly using minimal strength and put the whole body behind each stroke. Like feeling the strength from the floor through feet, belly all the way to to the fingers. So concentrating on legato and creating contrast in volume. Playing slowly, rhythmically, in a relaxed way connecting sounds I find gives 'body' to the music'. Just an idea! well done

  • I think there are many positives in this performance. The young lady has a clear idea about the piece, she has a dream she's working on. Second she communicates her love and enthusiasm for it. What brings you difficulty I think is that your shoulders are tight and that your trying to get through the piece by muscular force and so you quickly get tired, muscles cramp up and so you fall behind tempo tempo.

  • fantastic!

  • Watch my Bach rap ^^

  • tell your sister i like it very much and she is much better than me :)

  • Huduk77 you can't tell her not to learn this piece, people don't just sight read these pieces, well not normal people. It says she is learning, but i think the consistency of her playing is encouraging.

  • Hurray for brothers who support their sisters! Kudos to a young, brave girl for sharing herself with the world in this way. Here's wishing you many years of the enjoyment of music!

  • Very nice playing

  • I am a bit cruel but your level at this age let few possibilities for a piano carier. Off course, nothing is impossible.

  • If I were a woman, I 'd love loving and being loved and supported by my sister. Truelly nice klimet, especially when it is combined by such a cultural level. Blessed you. If your intention is to have piano as a hoby, keep on!

  • I though she would be pretty.

    Rasclaat.

  • huduk77 you're a talentless asshole. There are worse things kids could be doing than playing very advanced pieces. Her performance is not competition worthy but it's a good start and she's consistent with her level playing throughout the piece. Did you miss this disclaimer, " ...She is but a freshman performance major. this is a far from perfect performance, but a nice vid anyway. " You don't wish her the best otherwise you wouldn't have satisfied you're vanity by posting your inane comment.

  • A nice interpretation - well done ! It is a VERY difficult piece to play AND requires massive concentration. BRAVO !!

  • i, along with this performer and many others, am not a rigid piece of plywood when playing the piano. while such movements might not be considered "normal" to some in the piano world, they are perfectly "natural." as for myself, when i am playing and my emotion engulfs the music, my aura entices my body to sway around in ways that cannot be accounted for by my conscious mind. if you ever watched a clarinetist or many another woodwind play, you would hardly say it's unnatural.

    video: excellent!

  • your movements are not natural... dont be glen gould,,,,

  • Comment removed

  • her movements are very natural. the only reason someone sits straight with proper posture when playing is because they've been taught (i.e told) to do so. which kind of defeats the purpose of art don't you think? you play music because YOU love it, not because someone else taught you (i.e told you) to love it, so play it in whatever manner feels right, if that's with a straight back, sure, if it means swaying, cool, what comes natural is important when you play something you feel strongly about

  • Great comment, I'm glad to see someone else gets that.

  • :) Glenn Gould might have had the worst posture on the planet, but it helped him play the way he wanted to play

  • that piano have to be tuned

  • you said it bother

  • The title is the most stupid to post, the person who perform got nothing to do with apparence written.

The sound of this piano is bizarre!

  • If you can, do play with more conviction, and relax. if you were to sing the melody you would add some breth and in turn it will help you to create lighter and more convincing phrasing.

work on your technique, your fingers are not yet certain what you want them to do.

do practice more, you will get there.

  • The piano's way out of tune! But perfect tempo. Most pianists play Bach way too fast

  • @curlymyhero Yes, I agree. Too many pianists think Bach's piano works involve some kind of speed contest. I like this tempo, too.

  • pianista preciosa!me encantaaaaaaaaaaa

  • cool. is that your piano?

  • Good job. I would suggest several things: a) more fluidity between phrases (you tend to space it out slightly); b) more accent on stacattos.

There were a slight number of other quirks, but that's just the difference between the way you play it and I played it. Keep up the good work.

  • Ok!

  • Good piano player but this partita 2 is so boring... I like much more Bach from a little book for Anna Magdalena Bach!

  • I think the piece is amazing. Difficault though to interprete.

  • Meh, I cannot fully deny this; yet the full partita itself is quite remarkable if you have a good interpretation of it. This is especially critical on Sinfonie (what she plays), Sarabande, Rondeaux, and Caprice.

  • A delightful performance! Thanks for sharing this splendid rendition.

  • dude, your sisters hot

  • Not bad ! but you've got to be more energic ;)

  • Crappy piano.

  • fix your posture, your fingers, and the piano.

oh yeah and have better touch up on your sound, on the camera.

  • marry me

  • No, she's mine

  • The encoding of the audio is crappy. I hear the whole partita, like my ears were been cut off. Anyways, your sis plays wery well. XD~

  • I like this perfomance. Please go on this way. Im sure there are not too many pianist playing a piece like this with the right understanding as your sister does.

  • Hmm...get your piano fixed.

    I would go with Perahia.

  • Very nice job. I like the repertoire choice too.

  • Directly to my iPod... Beautiful interpretation, Beatiful Music, Beautiful woman... my God...! She is so Beautiful... =)

  • Sounds great. The fireplace adds a nice touch.

  • Amazing memory you have :-O so many notes need to memories !!! Great job !!!!

  • its not the notes you are memorizing, its the music ;)

  • LOL! Please, don't joke. Yes, you're memorizing the notes. Or you'll end up like Cortot. Everything's there except for the notes.

You can't memorize 'the music'. It's too corny. You've got to memorize THE NOTES. If we were talking Chopin, you're response would've made...hmmm...just a tiny bit of sense.

  • bach is the best. good job.

  • Very nice job. What type of piano is that you have?

  • very good playing, bravo ! recording sounds too much reverb especially when playing chords, but can still tell you are excellent, heartwarming playing

  • bellisima y talentosa...

  • pas de pédale??!! jespere

  • I might add that, in my opinion, Glenn Gould or any other truly great musician, would love this girl's performance, and would love the fact that she would present it online. And Glenn Gould would have been appalled at the criticism and hurtful comments presented by some of these "reviewers". In fact, I suspect the phenomenon of the self-important person who criticizes easily was one of the reasons Gould stopped performing in public early in his career.

  • Excellent. I instantly like someone who would choose this piece to play on-line. This site is wonderful. Glenn Gould would have loved this phenomenon, and he would have loved this performance. Thank you.

  • lol good one

  • So that's how all of those long hairs keep getting in my keyboard...

  • To DC Studio : what a heavy touch.Does she realize it ? Can she hear herself playing?

  • can you let us hear you? because you only say bla bla bla...

meaby she is not a great pianist but she play

  • To uruiunu - well,she did post it.....ok?

so firstly she has to accept remarks of any kind.(if polite).

About touch:it is a natural gift.I can't say of one can do an extended work on it and alas she is not so young, but her teacher should have noticed it and at least he had to introduce a simple girl playing at home asking people to be forgiving...as many

music lovers do.And I often encourage them.

Now you go to her Chopin rendition and then

let's have a chat if you like.

  • ok me gustaria tener chat contigo, estoy de acuerdo con que el toque es un don natural, pero resulta que yo hablo infinitamente mejor el español que el ingles, hablas español? ojala que si¡ if you don't speak english, i speak very bad and ugly you language...ja ja ja as you wish...

  • Good job ! I will recommend playing at a faster tempo so the it can be appreciated at is fullest. Great job, Keep up the Great work!!

  • I like the tempo for the first two sections. There is good flow. But I will agree that the repetitious call and response passages in the final section get slightly tedious at this tempo so I also would recommend a faster tempo in the final section. I liked the overall concept and it's a very good start. Seek as many opportunities to play for others as it will help you to develop a sense of ownership of the piece and you'll have an easier time saying what you want with the music. Good luck!

  • bitchy ;P

  • this is really beautiful! what school does she attend?

  • Sorry, I was responding to jsw663. You - Good for you. Get a life. You're valuable insight "I play better when I practice" does much for your ego, I'm sure, but really...who cares?

  • Beautiful! I hope you keep us updated on her future performances.

  • Never mind "dupapa33" folks, he has issues & trolls & bothers folks, for no other reason than to satisfy his own ego. Only minutes ago, he was using quiet cruel & obscene language to criticize the musical style of a little child, playing Bach. He simply needs to enter therapy.

By the way, nice job! Thanks for sharing the video.

  • sounds good. i dont know much Bach, but she produces a professional sound, i can tell you that.

  • She plays piano better than you spell. ;)

  • she plays it quite good but there is one thing i don't understand. Of course there are some idiots with cruel comments but you're overprotecting her by saying played by a pretty girl and take it easy on her...

    but nice playing anyway

  • ....

  • Bach is soooo difficult. Glenn Gould is a great listening resource. cp

  • this sounds to "learned" ... learn-ed. Needs to be more adventurous, needs direction. At least you can play the notes and that's always a good start!

  • She plays very well considering the strings are very old and out of tune. Plus, she's playing my fave Partita--Cm!!!

  • 4.5/10. I play better when I practice.

  • Good for you. Get a life.

  • Very excellently played. True, there are a few things that could stand some tweaking, but overall, very well done.

  • How can this be an audition video.. No offence, but there are many mistakes. And the piano is so out of tune, hope it has been tuned by now..

    Sigue adelante

  • Yeah i reckon...

  • If you listen to Glenn Gould, you won't find any interpretation that is better!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL PIANO SOUNDS LIKE HONKYTONK, or is it the recording?

  • Assyrianpianist, This piano needs serious voicing and tuning. Plus the room could use some treatment and I think her touch may be just a bit heavy and could use a little more dynamic control between hands, it's a bit monotonous. The intro was a bit harsh too. Lastly, a piano next to a fire place? Bad idea!

  • Still, this is not bad playing. Don't want to sound like I am bashing her! Some of it is the piano and the room.

  • I think most of the "interpretations" were just faults.

there are some critical parts but all in all it's well done. I played this piece a month ago and i think, she could try to get out more of the second part.

  • I think she knew she didn't have the piece down as well as she'd like to. The voicing in the fugue part is done very well, but it lacked a certain energy. She'll find it after she plays it more. Overall: Good performance, but we can agree that there are aspects that need work.

  • 55 seconds (:

  • No piano beside a fireplace!

    It tunes out the piano

  • Don't play Bach like Chopin and I agree with the rhythmic, it is oke to take time on some bits but it always has to keep the rhythem!

And what is with the sound of your piano? It's not so grand ;)

  • One little advice: Work on your rhythm. You have explicit rhythmic mistakes.

  • I find that it has the MOST room for interpretation, as opposed to something like Mozart or Tchaikovsky or Beethoven -- they wrote very specific articulations and dynamics which described how they wanted their music heard -- if you take something by Bach, say a partita, you can play it a thousand different ways and they could all be very valid interpretations as long as they upheld the integrity of the music and were played with conviction.

  • hmm i find this argument very interesting.. i never thought about it this way.. but i guess it has to do with what you mean as intrepretation... But certaintly Chopin beethoven or Tchaikovsky should be played with much more freedom when it comes to expressive elements, and just more expression in general

  • I think you can play Bach with freedom, and still make it sound as good as it's supposed to. Think of Glenn Gould's Toccata recordings...his freedom of tempi is (well, very free!) and yet it still flows nicely, and sounds very much like Bach. In fact, I think, with Tchaikovsky and Chopin you shouldn't allow yourself too much freedom -- you can be sentimental and expressive without milking it.

  • Wisest thing I've seen in a while, that remark about good musicians encouraging others. Holds true in all fields. Doesn't mean we should rate everything a 10, like where people trade 10 ratings, or that humor is out of place, but people get seriously hurt and discouraged by personal sarcastic comments and folks really need to think about what they're doing. Thanks.

  • That was just the image it conveys to me, btw. I should have said 'no offence' in advance.

I love Bach. My teacher's forcing me to play the entire Well tempered Clavier.

  • I don't find your remark offensive.

  • Your performance seems like a sticky ball of snot that sticks to a surface and lengthens as it gets unstuck. It's good. You have a good grasp of baroque music. GREAT JOB!!

  • Toujours et toujours ce son de merde !!!!!!!!!!

  • Listen to a good Pianist, Patricio Molina playing Peter Mennin

  • Is that a E-piano?
