We should have retained that discipline and effectiveness. If it has helped drudge through the Cold War, wouldn't that be worth keeping?

This commercial is from 1955. $5000 back then, adjusted for inflation, is about $36k today. Throw in an officer's commission, travel and a marketable skill afterwards, and that is still an attractive deal.

Thats not alot at all. And yes, you can. Kinda. Its really hard to get into the United States Airforce Academy, though. I've passed the IQ part of it. I still have to take a physical portion of the test though.
