Without bringing up the politics of the war, it would have been remarkable to see what Germany would have accomplished militarily if Hitler had waited to wage war with the kind of armoured forces that Guderian recommended.

Fair question. A better one is: where would the world be if the German people didn't close their soul, eyes. ears and minds to Nazi bullshit?
Yet, you got one thing dead on...What kind of world would it be if Jadtigers and ME-262's existed on June 21, 1941?
Among all the generals of all sides in WW2 I think the best general ever born was Guderian. He brillaintly led his panzers in the battle feild and was always a winner
@eshalmamoon1 Guderian had his succeses against ill prepared Armies of France and Belgium during the early years of the war ..When he got transferred to the Eastern front, the same thing happened against a divided and poorly led Russian Armies...Remember Stalin purge his army of the best generals.. Along came generals Koniev..Tomassingko..and Marshall Zhukov...and the rest was history...
@khurram664 Yes, as history will tell us, France was commanded by an 80 yr old Marshall (i forgot his name) with WW1 ideas of fighting a modern war...and the Maginot line????? Please.....
@khurram664 ...you can have the best armies and equiptments in the world but, if you have poor commanders...you will lose wars...Look at Alexander the Great, Most of the times during his campaigns he was outnumbered but his generals are superb..Look at Napoleon, he was fighting 3 or 4 different armies at times but his generals and marshals are fearless and smart...
@010bobby Well , the French and Germans had equal strength armies , however the French figured out that it would take them 4-5 years and millions of casualties to fight a "real" war with Germans. This , coupled with the British treason had convinced them to lay down their arms and finish the war.The fact is , France was an ALLY of Germany , not its pawn.
@Chargeeverything France an ally of Germany? I don't think so..what World War are you referring to? France was never allied with germany..If you are thinking of Vichy...That government was installed after Germany conquered france in WW2..Check your history..As for british treason, when did that happened?..Britain who was also ill prepared to fight was forced to send expeditionary force to France which resulted in Dunkirk...Don't blame others for your shortcomings. Blame Hitler!
he never made into a field Marshall..what an irony..look at von Paulus, he was promoted to field marshall even though he lost the battle of Stalingrad
@010bobby von Paulus? He wasnt an aristocrat, his last name was just Paulus. He was made field marshal to prevent him from surrendering the sixth and not be taken prisoner. The coward failed miserably in both.
"In peacetime Germany, about 18,000 or 20,000 people a year chose to commit suicide, even without being in such a position. Here is a man who sees 50,000 or 60,000 of his soldiers die defending themselves bravely to the end. How can he surrender himself to the Bolshevists?" - Adolf Hitler
@lolfaces37 Well, Mein Fuehrer...i followed your orders to the letter to hold stalingrad to the end but, the 6th Army was sorrounded with no supplies and no relief in sight...Had we break out early, we would still be a fighting force...Even Napoleon cannot beat this Russian winter...He had to retreat - Field Marshall Von Paulus
@010bobby That may very well be and I urge you to post your source, however I cannot find any proof that he was named von or was ennobled throughout his life and I`m quite sure he was middle class or upper middle class. It might be the case that generals and field marshals used it when they gained rank. I doubt that however, since Hitler was not a proponent of aristocracy and furthermore it would probably have angered the rest of the aristocracy.
@lolfaces37 ...i cannot right away give you any of my sources because all i did was read through history books preferably WW2 and most of these books referred to the General of 6th Army as Von Paulus.. i think you maybe you are right..coz some of these historians do favor certain individuals in history...But amongst our converations with fellow history buffs, we always refer to Paulus as Field Marshal Von Paulus, the ill fated general of the 6th Army..
@ThaidogFight Paulus a traitor. whe refuse to sacrifie his soldier. had no supplies. herman goering failt to dropp amunitiona nd food Von Paulus cared about the soldiers and wasant going to send them to slaughter house to satify the ego of a mad amn! paulus was a gentleman!
@ThePantruca Paulis was a traitor. He turned against Hitler and Germany when he worked for the Soviets! Many other Germans were faced with similar situations and never surrnedered or gave in(Leon Degrelle, Kurt Meyer)
Pročitao sam memoare Gen. Guderiana te sam nakon toga počeo poštovati njega kao vrhunskog vojnika kakovih je danas malo, svaka čast generale počivao spokojno.
@thejake1453 It is unfortunate Hitler did not see-eye to eye 100% with his ideas on tank warfare - particularly where you take the heavy tanks such as the Bengal Tiger, Panzer VIII Maus, Tiger III E-100 Nacht-Tiger or later the Jagdpanzer IV 70 which were ironically nicknamed the 'Gunderian's Duck'. Worse - I read Gunderian and Hitler had quite an acrimonious argument not too long before the end of the war where in the end Gunderian was dismissed :(
Generaloberst Guderian is the best panzer kommander we are ever going to see...
He also loved his soldiers...

@010bobby
Wasn't von Paulus his fault, the blame lies with Hitler and Goering, they both are responsible for what happened to the 6th armee.
Hitler becasue he was to fixated on capturing a pile of rubble that was called stalin and Goering for making more empty promises.
