Ive been a fan of the houstion skyline for years, being from san antonio. now ive personally seen both houstons and L.A s skylines and I like both, both have very tall buildings and clusterd nicely, but houstons is better for one, it has two buildings around 1000 ft and one very unique buildig philip johnsons nations bank looks like a huge cathederal and the skyline has 15 buildings over 700 ft when seen from a distance(approx 10miles) it looks like a massive forest of concrete and glass.
HOUSTON skyline is like DALLAS, DENVER, PHOENIX, LOS ANGELS, MINNEAPOLIS, MIAMI all these skylines are boring and simple no unique tower to distinguish itself, and proves that the USA lacks innovative architects to build dynamic, fantastic skyscrapers. All these cities have skyscrapers that looked as if they were developed by 4th graders IMHO!

The other ones you mentioned are organized and well proportioned through out the territories they occupy. I suggest you take a second look at them. However, I did see one in China that had a clean and organized look to it ,but other than that Shanghai and Hong Kong look beyond horrible.

No offense NewYorkCityBoy, but Houston is the LARGEST city in AREA. Check it out for yourself online anywhere. You only seen a few buildings in downtown. The city limits go way out. There are 5 different hise rise commercial districts. Houston is so large, its really hard to get it in one shot. Come to Houston and ride over the Ship Channel Bridge. Or try driving up from Fort Bend County north on Main Street. Houston is 55 miles across its two furthermost borders. Skyline- 23 miles long.
