I respect other countries in that they tend to be less selfish. Individualism is by no means any way to run a country. We are proving this. When Bush took office our economy was roaring. We had a surplus in the budget that should have been used to pay down the national debt. This was eroded over only six years by the repubs. The dems gained seats because they warned people that the repubs had things going toward a recession. They were right! When the dems took over we were in a recession. Its funny that your info is presented as though the dems started the recession. The dems averted a depression over those two years.

Just recall that in 2000 when the republicans took control our country had the strongest economy ever and there was no budget deficit at all. Since they had almost total control for the next six years the economy began to falter, the dollar was weakened, we were at war, and we had a deficit over $1 trillion by 2006. They lost some seats but still ran things. By 2008 we were headed for a DEPRESSION.

The may very well be true, but why would the Obama Administration rush through all these bills without reading them? They said the country was in an emergency and it needed to be passed right away to avoid the collapse of the economy. When Bush took office our economy was roaring. We had a surplus in the budget that should have been used to pay down the national debt. This was eroded over only six years by the repubs. The dems gained seats because they warned people that the repubs had things going toward a recession. They were right! When the dems took over we were in a recession. The may very well be true, but why would the Obama Administration rush through all these bills without reading them? They said the country was in an emergency and it needed to be passed right away to avoid the collapse of the economy. Why would you say that? I can understand why you would hope that he becomes a great leader, but saying that he WILL is really odd. He hasn't shown theability to lead anything. He can't even pass bills despite having majorities in both houses. All he's done is apologize and talk about hope and change.

There are far more deserving applicants for this prestigious award. I'm not saying Obama hasn't done anything. I mean the fact of him being our president inspires many to believe that we can hope for change. That someday there will be peace. But the award is offered to those who have detecated their lives and have done much work to help create peace. Those people deserve the award . Untill Obama performs actions of spreading peace, he should not be given this award.

Not true. Many Nobel Peace Prizes have gone to people and organizations because of their beliefs and goals. I heard an expert talk about this on C-Span. I personally think President Obama deserved it for his Cairo speech.
