The problem though with T's is that high torque will twist the car, because the weakened top. Even the old hatches twisted to high torque. The fox in my video upload (saleen) has stress cracks near the hatch, because of torque.
But I still love the t's.

I don't know "how many" T-top coupes were made back in '86, but my coupe was sold by a Ford dealer with the T-tops in it. I believe it was an option back in the middle '80s.

@Kaje5ohh I believe ford made the t tops from 81-86 If i'm not mistaken.

I have been following this build up in 5.0 M&SF mag. This is one of the best projects I have ever seen in a magazine. I bought an 82 T top coupe to do a similar project after my 03 mach 1 is finished. GREAT JOB!!!
