I love the polyphony and counterpoint of this piece, especially the fugue. Wonderfully expressive playing--I love the phrasing and the fact that you're not afraid of a little rubato in baroque music. Fantastic interpretation, and kudos for not making it sound too academic. It's refreshing to hear this played on an authentic instrument but without the strictest application of "authentic performance practice". Well done!
taking liberties and playing expressively IS the application of 'authentic performance practice'. Many documents from the period indicate one should play from the heart, not like a trained bird. (CPE Bach)
@kidneykutter i use a "tail" instead ( one sided, i sit on it ) and sit like i use to when i played guitar. i just cant play an instrument without lifting my lag anymore....
however, i pass it under my thigh instead of over it - its anchors the lute better this way.

Wish we could hear it in a less dead acoustic!

lovely playing, isn't that unusual to see the left leg crossed over like that, unorthodox?

Not that uncommon, especially when people play without a strap.

@kidneykutter whenever i do that my lag gets numb in less than 2 minutes and my knee starts to ache...

After hearing his great Weiss concerto recording, I was interested to hear how he tackles the solo works. Please post more if available.
