  • he's using a bow-saw whitout the teeth. it creates the same effect on the plate as the bow of a violin. his finger on the plate does the same thing as the finger on the violins string, it changes the wavelength of the vibration. only here the entire plate vibrates and creates a two-dimensional pattern of areas whith varying amplitudes. the sand moves to and stays in the calm areas.
