  • Hey, can anyone recommend me some more Oval?? I'm after tracks like this. Glitchy loops with lots of modulation and usage of resonance. Thank you

  • @DonnieDirtbox Well most of his older releases are similar to this except Ovalcommers since that release is more noisy than all the rest.

  • @squezey1 thanks

  • @DonnieDirtbox Textuell, Aero Deck and Tonregie. Those are the ones i like.

  • magic, thank you for upload

  • Holy shit: MTV played Oval? Wow you guys had it good

  • Undermined the dynamism of sound pleasant.

    I like beautiful art...

  • Is this available in Vinyl?

  • @eduds6 Yeah but good luck finding a cheap copy I was lucky to get mine in perfect condition for a little over $40 from Amazon (where I buy most of my music from), I believe the CD version has also just went out of print but I'm not exactly sure. I've always wondered how many copies were actually produced.

  • Where's the rest of it!?!? haha Somehow this song can stay interesting for 20+ minutes. It definitely needs to be chilled out to at a very loud volume or on headphones and you must be high. I'm sorry but thems the rules.

  • @MightyMartel nah you don't have to be high...well I dont :)

nice upload but youtube does not do the sonic textures of this track much justice...need CD version or vinyl etc.

  • @BucketfulOfFruit It's certainly more intense high. It's just the last time I probably listened to the WHOLE song I was probably pretty baked. That was back when I was very busy finding new music. Now I prefer 3-4 minute songs haha.

  • @MightyMartel yeah same here... this oval track and shing kee by carl stone are the only 15min+ tracks I can listen to

  • @MightyMartel

No,Dont need to get High. Music is better Enjoyed conscient, with trained ears and Brain.

  • @eduds6 I was joking really. You don't need to be high to enjoy anything but weed makes music really amazing and that is why it's a beautiful "drug." I have moments listening to music when I am high that are just as amazing as moments I've spent listening to music sober and vice versa. Shit, music is a drug in itself. My ears are well trained regardless of whether I am high or not :D

  • @MightyMartel

No,I Was just giving my oppinion also. Nothing against Drugs.

  • Anyone know where I can get the 4 Do While remixes that are on the 2nd vinyl included with 94Diskont? I can't rip vinyl to my computer and I really want the audio files.

  • @squezey1 soulseek. It's an ages old peer to peer program that specializes in electronic music. You can get almost anything on there.

  • @sirmailbox Not even there. Oh well tons of other great stuff I found on there too. Wish I knew about this Soulseek program before.

  • @sirmailbox not just electronica!!

  • mtv isnt even music anymore, its just.....shit. but this song is AMAZING!!!!

  • I love this piece. I prefer the long one though. This is actually Do While⌘X

  • Strange. After a few moments I thought "booring". And of course kept listening up to the end.

  • yeah, still amazing work of art, more than 15 years old, but still sounds fresh enough... i think Kraftwerk are proud of Markuss Popp and Sebastien since they were/are next generation of talented electronica experimentalists

  • I just listened to this song like last night on a quiet, late night car ride home, goes well with the atmosphere.

  • I've uploaded the full version, since nobody else seems to have. This video goes so very well with ⌘X, though.

  • Just...a work of art.

  • all the adjectives in the world- dreamy, otherworldly, soulful, mesmerizing, revelatory, peaceful, visionary, soothing, and so on- fail to adequately describe this song. All I can say is, this will be going through my head during the last 24 minutes of my life.

  • How was this video made. Anyone have any idea? One of the coolest things ever.

  • @viewforthmusic look into applications like processing [dot org]

  • thank you friend! Its my love melody of 1997 year Thank you from Russia!

  • ale schiza...

  • wooooooooo

  • One of the most beautiful and haunting songs ever recorded. The 24-minute version is an absolute masterpiece! Peace.

  • @MuzikJunkyAES where i can listen the 24 min version please?

  • @bozesanmihai It's on the Web site of Thrill Jockey Records. Peace.

  • @MuzikJunkyAES

yea, i like the long one better too :)

  • howdy, could someone help me out? im looking for some decent glitch albums. recommendations?

  • Check out AOKI Takamasa. Peace.

  • Thiaz Itch - El Baile de los Fantasmas

  • Microstoria

    Novisad

    Oval

    Visor

  • @tobybradley Try "Crying over pros for no reason" by edIT

  • @tobybradley edIT is crap he does glitch hop crap. If you're looking for pure glitch, then Alva Noto aka Carsten Nicolai is the man, Ryoji Ikeda too.

  • @NicGonzalez1 So he's crap because he has a hip-hop element? Might want to work on your criticism a bit more.

  • I don't like 'ambient' but this is something else...5 stars

  • Hey guys! I am just starting to discover Glitch and I would much appreciate if anyone could recommend me some artists. This stuff by Oval appeals to my sound buds mahoosively... :D

  • To get true glitch music, you need to look underground. The best 'glitch; musicians live in basements, living rooms, and apartments. You need to find the 17 year old kids waiting to get out of their small town; the 23 year olds quiting collage; hell, even the 13 year olds who just got their first keyboard. Good glitch music is what you find.

But, I know finding a few good artists in the first place is hard. Look up the CD Wonderland by Pogo, and move on from there.

  • well thank you for that very true and intriguing advice!

    Also: I love your username!

  • Hi, you have to check out :

Jan Jelinek "Loop Finding Jazz Records" (!!!)

    Gramm "Personal Rock" (!!!)

    Farben "Textstar"

    Pole "1", "2", "3"

Vladislav Delay "Entain" and "Multila" (!!!)

Mille Plateaux "Clicks & Cuts" Compilation

  • much appreciated, thank you.

  • Microstoria

    Novisad

    Oval

    Visor

and so many more I can't think of off the side of my head. I haven't listened to that stuff in years.

  • real treasure

  • This song is Do While (command X). Not the full version (obviously). The full version is 24 minutes in length. Don't get me wrong, this is still a work of fucking art, but I wish someone would put the full version up =/.

  • waaaaaaay ahead of its time

  • Very true

  • Brilliant! Jean-Michel Jarre reborn!

  • the shape is free... as the sounds are us

  • It could be, but I can't understand it. It's a heap of sounds accourding to me.

  • this is one of the few electronic compositions which is dealing with emotions instead of process-oriented, "smart" electronics. thats unique (by the way if you are interested in the process, search for the video of oval-process installation. it's also very nice...)

  • Thanks for the info, I'm searching for other glitch songs and artists right now, maybe I will change my opinion about this genre.

    ;-)

  • Try Rounds by Four Tet.

  • BWAHAHA!!! Oh man that's hilarious! HAHAHA!!!

    Whoo boy...oh god...

  • I had never seen the video. As Cool as the song is..

  • awesomeness. this is such a relaxing song.

  • I saw this video back when MTV ran a show called "AMP." I was going to college in a rural area and would never have known about many artists that I love if this show hadn't existed. This Oval video was among my favorites and 10+ years later I still love the song & the visuals. Thank you for posting it!

  • @cherchezlatrouble sad they don't have any cool music shows anymore. i remember when i used to discover shit on mtv back in the days. crazy how things change. i guess the internet is way better though lol

  • @lloplop I haven't watched MTV in forever in fact I don't even think they are a music station anymore but rather a station with reality shows with a little music in between or really late at night when there isn't any shows scheduled. I find my music through last.fm.

  • IDM at its best!
