Interesting interview - the title throws me off, though. What do "good" and "evil" have to do with science? I don't think that Dr. Singh actually claimed in the video that morality was a scientific issue.
He did not clam that morality is a scientific issue but he could of. There are too many steps in the evolution of conscience, the morals. (not counciousness).
True, we can learn about how to structure our own morality (or society around it) by studying the evolution of conscience and other related matters, but I don't think of this as "good" and "evil". Also, if I recall correctly, the video never goes close to these issues.
From Dr. Singh is interesting in that he believes that morality evolved from the identification by a group of what is conducive to life and happiness also known as wisdom, and the selection by social organisation of humans that are more stable and reproduction capable using this wisdom.
Good is what is moral to that societys way of living and evil is what is not. Like legal and illegal. Religion would be a visualisation, a metaphor, gathering.
Hmm... Maybe it's just too hidden in metaphysical jargon for me. I re-listened and still didn't get the interpretation you got from the video. I agree with what you said, though. That is where "good" and "evil" come from. I wouldn't, however, call this "good" and "evil" because these are loaded terms that don't fully capture the moral ambiguity of tribal decisions about legal and illegal acts.

And so evil exists and good exists.
