I agree very strongly with that. I really dislike it when authors have something minor happen and then spend 6 pages explaining the back story, that's my biggest pet-peeve. It takes me out of the story and it ruins the flow when you do it more then once or twice.
i didnt gwet to watch heroes yet either. im on the east coast but i missed it. I always just watch it online. I like it that way beter because if i have to go to the bathroom i can pause it and im not rushed. But i feel guilty because im one of the people who caused the writeers strike. lol
ya, avril's one of those guilty pleasure artists. but "keep holding on" tho is not that bad, plus it always reminds me of a friend so I like it even more. the others are just catchy/fun.
i can't wait til I can afford to buy new books again. til then I might just have to put my library card back into use.
I love the 40% off discount! I got it when I bought Book of Lies and was able to get Looking For Alaska and a dollar back from the discount!
Also, I loved that you put in Neil Gaiman in there. I read bits of Fragile Things and enjoyed it, so maybe it would be worth borrowing from the library and just reading the stories that sound interesting.
Brisingr!!!! im waiting for my sister to buy it for me for my birthday! :)

I like those books too. You're right they're not that great but it's far better than the Twilight series.
But the Eragon series is kind of my guilty pleasure.

i hate how he writes dialogue and i hate how he tells so much rather than shows. the 'showing not telling rule' is one of the first rules of writing.
hot rod is my guilty pleasure :p

oh well, they'll be at the english bookstore here eventually.
I don't know if you intended this to happen, but I'm now going to hear girlfriend in my head every time I read the bits of Eragon with Arya in them.

You're like the female version on my best friend, except he's in college for video game design.
Oh and I read Paolini's books for the same reason I think he will be a very good writer one day.
