Nice video. I love the quality. So is the 50mm 1.8 lens better quality than the 55mm 3.5(kit lens) because the way I'm thinking is the higher the number the better :/ but I obviously don't know.haha. HELP me please. I'm getting a T3i in January and I would like to know should I buy the only the body and get the 50 mm 1.8 lens separate or just get the regular T3i with the kit lens. I'm always told that the kit lens is not the greatest.
@HeavenBound107 It's a bit confusing. The 50mm is the focal length. There are lenses with a fixed focal length like the one I used in this video. They are called 'prime lenses'. The 1.8 is the aperture value and the LOWER the aperture value the BETTER the lens. Why is this so? If you set the aperture value lower on your camera, it lets more light into it and you may shoot very good pictures in darker light conditions.
@cyberkeks so what exactly is the focal length, how is it useful to have good focal length? And what about when i see numbers like 27.6/ 2 something. Im sorry i'm new to photography.
@HeavenBound107 Furthermore, prime lenses often make sharper pictures and are fantastic for portrait shots, because you can focus on near objects, while you blurry the background. BUT: You can't zoom with a prime lens. You will always need two lenses (that's why you can change them on DSLRs). The Kit lens has an adjustable focal length, so you CAN zoom.
@HeavenBound107@HeavenBound107 Look at the safari video in my channel. It's been shot entirely with the kit lens. So I'd suggest, you buy the t3i with the kit lens AND then save a bit money for buying the 50mm (It's not that pricy).
@HeavenBound107 Also, remember the footage here may look great, but in some situations where you require more coverage for a shot this lens can be somewhat frustrating as on a T2i/T3i there is a crop factor. This means this lens acts like a 75mm lens. If you watch this 50mm lens on a 5D, that's what a 35mm lens will look like on the T3i. Stupid, right? My suggestion - Second lens to buy = Zoom, maybe 18 - something. Wide angle, but it also give you versatility.
@CallMeJaii For the Mac i prefer Final Cut Pro X. It has got a lot of features, has a nice colorgrading tool and is very easy to use. On Windows Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects seem to team up very well.
@007s00s Both are great for highlighting your main subject and get rid of any distractions in the background, but the 50mm is definitely the better deal.
@cyberkeks hey, i feel like getting this cam, is this video edited ? :O if it is, can you tell me what editing program do most people use and what you use ? :D :D :D :):)
@nightubble It's colorgraded in Final Cut Pro X. It depends on the hardware you're using. If you're on a windows machine, you may use Adobe Premiere for editing and Adobe After Effects for Video Effects and Colorgrading. On a Mac I prefer Final Cut Pro (the latest version is very easy to use, while version 7 is more complex and has more features)
@cyberkeks awesome :D do you think i should get the 600d or 60d :O im new .. i love taking photos of nature, and night photos and videos :D will this be great ? :D
@007s00s I have never used the sigma but the Canon lens is spectacular. I think the correct answer based on the numbers is that the Sigma 1.4 has a shallower depth of field. The smaller the number the blurrier the background.
@KingdomKidMusic For someone who wants to record video: yes. The flexible screen makes you being able to shoot from difficult positions, while the fixed screen of the 550d never would let you do this.
@nazgulp35 as far as I know, the 60D has the same SLR Chip inside. Anyway, the 60D is the professional version of the 600D, so it will be GREAT for video! But like always, the internal mic isn't that well. I bought a RODE Videomic for recording audio.
@rrgert4 Hard question. For my purposes it DOES beat the 7D because of the much lower price. I think, the t3i is a VERY good choice, but image quality depends very much on the used lens.
@lefonceur26 It's quite easy. If you have the included kit lens, it should have a focus ring to set the depth of field (It's the furthest ring on your lens). Just play around with it while filming and you'll notice that different objects in your view will get sharp while other stuff will get blurry. :)
@cyberkeks I recently got the eos 600d with the standard 18-55 mm lens. I saw your comment here about "blurry then fix on" and just tried it out, worked out real nice!! But it makes a lot of sound which gets recorded while filming..is there anyway to avoid that?
@penol666 as the internal microphone of the 600d is really crap, I bought this RODE Video-Microphone, which does a VERY good job. It can be mounted at the flash socket and is REALLY necessary if you depend on the sound you record. It is shock resistant, so you won't hear the scratches from your fingertipps or the autofocus motor anymore :)
What lens are you using? Like Reen Dawg08, this film sold the camera to me. Now i just need to get the money. lol. I wonder how these shots would look with a steady cam. :D

@lefonceur26 It's quite easy. If you have the included kit lens, it should have a focus ring to set the depth of field (It's the furthest ring on your lens).
