Killing innocent, defenseless people that are not threatening you IS inherently evil. (Like what's happening in Iraq.)
After reading many examples of ancient 'cults' that pre-exist most 'cultures' and learning they still exist I wondered WHY. ('Magic' practices.)
I too did not believe and then in MY bedroom during what would be called a 'religious' experience a problem disappeared in front of my face. I'm computer science so don't think this belief came easy, but proof? You've got me there.

There's more than just that happening in Iraq. I don't agree with boiling it down to just that.
But it still isn't evil. - YOU CONSIDER it evil, but others might have a different viewpoint, and therefore it IS not evil. It can be VIEWED as evil, but is not inherently evil.

I'm simply pointing out that every "good" or "evil" deed is judged subjectively, and judged entirely on the context of the action.
Making it good, only to the person judging it, and only based on the context. NOT on the action itself.
There is no good or evil, only beneficial or disadvantageous, as THAT is the argumentation behind calling something good or evil.

Incorrect. After decades of reading my foot sliding to the door of atheism, the door was slammed shut by something far greater than I. There was no 'person' 'voice' of g-d, but there was knowledge imparted and what could be a 'miracle' or 'magic', but I can not prove it. (Computer scientist; very good one so logic is my bag and history, psychology, econ.)
However,

Yeah you know Carlin said it best. "People say that life begins at conception. Well I say that life began about a billion years ago and it's a continuous process. It just keeps rollin along!" I think all religions sucks. Spirituality is fine. Everyone needs some of that. But it should be a personal and private thing void of dogma, ceremonies, ridiculous rules and hierarchies. Religion is just there to annoy people while promoting unquestioning obedience to authority.
