If you fill a balloon with warm water the snake will strike at the balloon due to it's heat sensory pits, so you get the cool snake attack and a water ballon burst combo.

That was neat to watch, but I can't help but notice the poor snake shaking its head as it retracts. That isn't fair to the poor animal, scaring it like that, just because it's venomous and "looks cool" when it strikes. I've seen workers doing this to a poor scrub python at a pet store and if the snake wasn't $300 I would have bought it to get it out of there.

How much do you actually know about snakes??? They are NOT blind; in fact, most all snakes can see in color. The species that are more active during the day have almost exclusively cones in their retinas. They actually see a wider range of hues than we do. The force of the explosion in its face could hurt it; and it would sense the vibrations and be startled. GO pop a balloon in your own face and see how much you like it.

I'm not sure if there is a bit of tail under the rattle, but the rattle its self is just dried skin that very conveniently forms into a rattle.

What I think is pretty funny is that if you did cut it off, it would still waggle it's tail trying to warm you with the rattle it no longer has.
