This is the music i listen to on the fantail of a navy ship while sailing around the south pacific back in the 60s. The music is still as good, but i will never capture that feel of the open sky and fresh air steaming to a far away place, with my battery powered turntable and Chinese bought albums. I still have the albums, but the turntable is somewhere at the bottom of the south pacific around the Kwajalien islands ..
Next year, Burt on Broadway again if things go well for Some Lovers, now in San Diego. I'm crossing my fingers, because the music never fails to please.
As for PP: great BB song and arrangement; best Dionne I can recall.
Comparable only, perhaps, to the same combination in Who Is Gona Love Me?
Dionne Warwick was a powerhouse! And with the writing and arrangements from Hal David and Burt Bachrach, she was a force to be reckoned with. More should be written about these two men. You can tell their arrangements anywhere. This was the music of my young life. Beautiful!
@centralparocker I agree, I heard the Quadrophonic demo of this track with Burt Bacharach and orchestra in the early 70's, adding Dionne on vocals was a perfect match!
@BaleysGirl - Mr. David rocks. This was one of the premier songwriting teams that will leave us with lasting compositions: Lennon/McCartney, Bachrach/David...the best...
Remember when Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and food in general actually tasted good? Don't know why but for some reason I just felt I had to say that.

Broadway songs...Dionne made this a mainstream tune thanks to Burt B. & Hal D. Love it!

This sounds a lot like "The Theme From Kojak" - there are definite Kojak rifts thoughout it. Give "Kojak" a listen and tell me if I'm wrong.

@hasablad69 yes, they have used the trumpet rift at 0.36, thanks for the heads up hasablad69 :)

This is one of my favorite songs by Dionne. Bacharach could not have chosen a better person to sing his songs than her.

This is the perfect combination of pop music, show tune, up tempo that few writing arranging duos like Hal David/Burt Bacharach can do.

@wlsn11359 This was originally written for a Broadway Musical by the same name ("Promises, Promises").

Bacharach-David-Warwick...one of the most perfect and memorable trios in all of modern music. Pure bliss. I've loved their music for decades.
