it was orginally played an recorded on his 1955 strat then mid-californication he started using his 60's teles. Same with can't stop, he orginally used his 62 strat...he's only recorded with two strats since his return his 55' (californication) 62' (By the way) and both for sa, with the exception of the white falcon and custom les paul ( an sg) here and there....i'm such a fruciante geek...jus love his gear-

RHCP aren't actually that good any more. Their only worthwhile album is BSSM. Anyone saying "omg dey r gods lol dey r bestet band in da wurld" are moronic children that have just found out about music.

John recorded this song on a borrowed 66´Jaguar from a technician ;-)
He played it with his own 62 Jaguar on the beginning of the Californication tour but than replaced it with his Telecasters.
He also recorded with telecasters, for example the scar tissue solos
