  • It's Swedish.

  • What language is this? Certainly not the original German...

  • Let's not forget the translator - Alf Henriksson, who makes this a wonderful rendition of the german original lyrics by Schikaneder.

  • I love this Papageno (always have, or at least since I was five years old) – but it's really sad that he's carrying a noose around 24/7...

  • In 1975 I started to learn German. In 1977 I went to Germany for the first time. The same year I saw Bergman's 'Magic Flute' for the first time. I have never grown tired of this joyous masterpiece.

  • 7:06 OH SHIT

  • Hagegard reminds me of Michael Ian Black for some reason... Also, Papapegna is hawwwwt

  • @thesir27 I've danced with her (Papagena) socially. A lovely lady in all respects! ;)

  • fappagena

  • This duet should have lasted a little longer ...

  • Papagena is a mega babe.

  • Ahhhhhh, just worked with him in Italy. He's super fantastic. I. Love. Him.

  • Is that dutch he's singing? Not a very creative costume, kind of cool that it's set in winter though never seen that before.

  • @dlandon2000 Swedish

  • The most wonderful Papageno (and time has passed by, since that release).

And the most Erotic and joyfull Couple of Papageno & Papagena EVER!!!

  • woa steady urself guys!!!

  • :( !!!nul

  • Swedish? O_o ... Cool =D

  • Communist is bullshit !

  • A sus 23 años, un gran barítono... Uffff!!!! Me robo el corazón ese papageno... :D

  • Which year was this in?

  • Papageno and PAMINA. P-A-M-I-N-A

  • @illyria24 Huh? Pamina is is Tamino's girl.

  • Wow, to me, Swedish (if it is Swedish) sounds better than German..

  • I love it how all the staccato "pa"s make them sound like birds chirping to each other.... ah mozart you genius!

  • freeze it at 7:06 precisely fellas.

  • oh dear mozart

  • He made a masonic symboled thing (Which only god knows what are the meanings behind it) A Beautiful thing! Bliss you Bergman.

  • magic flute in swedish.. Omg puke

  • @pettymolly cause german is well known to be such a pretty language lol

  • @zegermans750 I hate english versions of Mozart too. Not intended to be.

  • @pettymolly It's intended to be an opera to the people. That is why the originall libretto is in german. If this would be a opera fr the nobles it would have been italian. So, here we have a opera to the swedish people :-)

  • @HerrWarja well mozart was hardly italian was he. Or swedish for that matter. If you are happy with it I can only silently disagree..strongly :)

  • @pettymolly I dont think Mozart cared much about the language he wrote for since he wanted to make money for the operas he wrote. He gave us wonderful music that everyone can understand. The libretto is changed so we can appreciate the lyrics and dialogs aswell. They did a live production in Gothenburgs Operahouse last year based on Ingmars film. It was fabolous. Im sure many more swedish people felt more interested to appreciate Mozarts music when the libretto was in swedish.

  • @HerrWarja I agree with you since Mozart was Austrian, is natural than he will compose in German. I don´,t think he knows another language different as German

  • papageno is a homeless

  • @ellipszia No he is a birdcather!

  • Papagena is hot

  • @Changles Of course, she is swedish ;-)

  • Bellissimo!

  • Thank you, GCCgal. Papageno is always getting his mouth blocked in this film; I'm glad Haken was able to gift us with his wonderful voice, even though he is wonderful just to watch.

  • Papageno and Papagena are "wild" characters and follow no other commands than those of their hearts!

  • Papageno is the courageous "fool" of the play

at first a comical character but also tragic in that he is alone until the end when Papagena show up and together with the three boys stop him from hanging himself out of despair!

And Bergman only made a movie "musical" off the original opera script by Wolfgang A. Mozart!

  • Onw of Bergman's wonderful gifts to us. The Swedish cast is so talented and appeals to the purity of love we all can enjoy in our lives. Bergman's films often were a bit dark, but this shows his soft, gentle nature. Thanks for you and YT!

  • I always say this opera sounds much better in Swedish than in German, and in general, so beautiful a movie by Bergmann...

  • The scene with Papagena is really cute.

  • La plus belle scène de la Flute Enchantée

Vive Bergman et les 2 chanteurs

  • first version of papageno duet i ever saw! way kewl

  • genijalno.....mocarteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Pure, playful, and utter fun! Really shows that Bergman was a man of many talents, even in all this smile-inviting color he still meditates on human nature-given, of course, credit to Mozart and Schikaneder.

  • my favorite part is when they have that cute little fight. "Papageno" "papagena" "papageno" "papagena papaGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENA!"

  • It is my favorite scene of all to because Papageno and Papagena are very likable and sweet. This is a beautiful love story like Tamino and Pamina. Thank you for put this video in youtube :)

  • omg cute omg

  • I love their acting and voices. Elizabeth Erikson is stunning, and Hagegard is a very truthful, lonely Papageno.

  • I love how playful they are. In other versions Papageno can seem like a sulking fool and Papagina is the bimbo prize at the end, but these characters are so warm and likable. You can see why she would love him, not just why he would want her.

  • It's not just that they're good looking, it's their acting. When Hakan as Papageno first hears Elizabeth, he has this wonderful little smile. The bit with the break away clothing is genius!

  • That bit makes me laugh every time (as much as the last bit in the 2003 ROH version, with all those kids) !!!!!

  • If only it was In German rather than Swedish.

  • I just love this

  • stop at about 7:07

  • The best duo by far for this part....no other two come close.

  • Who is the female in this part? Would like to hear more from her in opera and life in general!Stunning voice and a stunning beauty also

  • I'll marry you papageno! pick me, pick me!!!!

  • LOL, that's what I first thought when I saw this film!

  • @welcomeback444 i read he has been married to barbara bonney. i was so disappointed! i thought she was gay! :( but i can see why she picked him. ;)

  • Superb production. One of I. Bergman most beautiful film. The ouverture of the movie is completly MAGNIFICENT too !
