  • I love Jimi and what he did, but I never understood why people 'cover' hey joe in honour of Jimi, it doesn't really represent him. He was kinda forced to do it by his manager cos he knew it would be hit. On another note, voodoo child should not be covered as it just gets murdered every time. SRV played it well though.

  • @escombroscosmicos however hendrix has done the best version.

  • SO SMOOTH! Dave is the Greatest! gave me the chills!

  • "Hey Joe" isn't a Jimi Hendrix song...Actually, is a Billy roberts song...

  • @escombroscosmicos thats why in the title it say Hey Joe(Hendrix Cover)

  • This is one of jimis best songs an he covered this from tim ross lol i guess wen tim heard it he said fuck it he deserves the rights to this...same with all along the watch tower by bob dylan hendrix made it his own lol sry dylan...but hendrix idolized dylan like no other.....rip jimi wish i coulda seen u play

  • Gary Moore god rest his soul covered this song just perfect, also did real good cover of red house RIP G Moore

  • A great version, but Hendrix's one is still the best.

  • @tjrtherocksponge Jimi is the ultimate Stratocaster king and by far the greatest guitar player of all time. As far as songwritting, Jimi wrote almost all of his songs so ofcourse that the best ones come from his: Little Wing, Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, Bold As Love, etc...

  • This is like Jesus covering God

  • Grande!

  • Grande gilmour!

  • FUCCCK THIS IS TIGGGHT!!!

  • god damn gilmour is ugly haha

  • @Hemostrat v=UxIFivtkBv8&feature=related watch

  • mille vanili>seal>lenny kravitz

my how far we have come

  • @Amakisongs What's your point ???

  • Gilmour with hair! This is a old video indeed. ;)

  • I can recognize Gilmour's play out of million guitar players. THAT'S UNIQUE!

  • wow david hit that solo pretty good-i wouldnt expect anything less from a god

  • is that slash in the polka dot tshirt on

  • Gilmour is the best, but what's with seal; i got nothing against him but he didnt go well on a hendrix song on vocals.

  • There have been so many different versions of this song, I don't think it's really fair to say this one or that one sucks. Listen to Deep Purple's, Roy Buchanan's, Willie Deville's, or Nick Cave's versions. All way different from the others. I like all of them, although I like Roy Buchanan's live in Japan version best as far as guitar-play. I also think Gilmore was great in this and should have played more.

  • he looks like a vocalist of bad brain

  • I'm a big Floyd fan but this is a bloody horrible version of Hey Joe . Even KISS did a better version of this .

  • you can see at the beginning of his solo he's really happy to do it ... it's quiet cute :D

  • would you people please listen to guitar tracks iv uploaded on here?

it'd mean alot to get some constructive critics. i come out with guitar songs

once sometimes twice a week. i record them off my tascam in my bedroom.

  • seal looks like he should be singing for living color. what a fuckin tool.

  • Would of been a historic rendition if Seal would have been bothered to learn the lyrics.

  • I was waiting for seal to give Gilmour his solo, they should have let him play it out for like 2 more minutes, you know he can/

  • he once as a joke "Jimi Hendrix isn't as good as me!"

    who doesnt like Jimi :D

  • jesus christ glimour is so fucking soulful, definatly one of the best hendrix would be proud

  • a badass singer and a badass guitarist covering a badass song.... badass!!!

  • @djtrixen why did he get thumbs down for this? some people are such dumbcunts... badass means good. fuckin gaycunts

  • Gilmour nailed it perfectly :)

(Would have been funy seeing hjim try the "teeth solo:)

    :D

  • reliving a classic!

  • about half way through the song it hit me that he sounds EXACTLY like Leni Kravitz, i think maybe cause he's singing out of his normal range

anyone else hearing this or is it just me?

  • Rastaman!

  • If David retires I would hope he goes out with a blaze of glory, he deserves something big for all the years of great music. Such soulful guitar

  • the old seal wow

  • haha right on

  • jeez man its seal dude couldnt you at least have some respect

  • who cares if it's seal? one hit wonder...

  • well even so still have some respect for a human being

  • yes, we would have, if he cleans rooms somewhere. perhaps he is good at this. but to cover (sing) a Hendrix song without respect to Hendrix is a shame, whatsoever. Seal might be a good musician, but not in case of covering music that he cannot feel. I respect his own kind of music, but he should stay there! Obviously!

  • i think they pretty much did it justice. its no jimi, but gilmour nailed the solo

  • Please get the words in time with the lips singing.

  • Sweet video, I think Dave Gilmour is probably the best guitarist ever, although for blues I have heard better players. When It comes to the emotive powerful solos then Gilmours ya man ;-)

  • Concur

  • @thedude070 he's not the best, his revolutionary techniques that are!! He is one of the best composers!!

  • this is a really cool video. wish it was better though. the music sounded good.

    thanks for sharing it.

  • Whichever idiot said Hey Joe is by Hendrix is WRONG. Billy Roberts wrote it. He just made it famous. I like this version as well

  • I prefer Gilmour style than Hendrix

  • but as for the voice, jimi's fits the song better

  • thats like choosing barb b que steak over bbq chicken..who can choose???

  • Whoever made this should at least get the mouth lined up with the music.

  • my fav song from the set it off soundtrack

  • sick vocals

  • Gilmour is a BIG HENDRIX FAN, I'm sure he was loving it.........

  • Gilmour is my hero. But nobody can come close to Jimi except SRV.

Dave Gilmour is one of a kind.so melodic n soulful.

Its a rare chance to see him doing Hendrix cover.

    awesome.

  • listen to money or have a cigar, those songs are blues format im sorry. Hendrix was blues all the way. if your saying gilmour and hendrix have nothing in common, your smoken weed too much. by the way if you dont know, susie hendrix gave jimi's guitar strap to david. You know the one from his on an island tour in 2006 because of this concert. I know this because he told me

  • Congratulations, you talked to Gilmour! But tell me, who really gives a shit who gave whos guitar strap to who?

  • I will agree with you on the Gilmore issue,

but SRV Is not nor could have he been in the same category as Hendrix. He was Great and I really love him still today. may he rest in peace. I feel Hendrix would have loved him. Hendrix loved Billy Gibbons. Much love to you though. David Gilmore will always be loved from everyone in my house.

  • It's not a Hendrix tune per say" he didn't write it. Nor did he write all along the watch tower. these are 2 songs I will say that remind me of Elvis for this reason alone. when they did something it became theirs. I thought it was a good cover. I feel it also shows their respect for Jimi. It is things like this that help Jimi live on.

  • Godzilla vs. Rodan ! Mush mush !

  • Wow, is that the predator from Predator?

  • BAAAAAA hahahaha so true dude

  • :P Is it true seal wears pajamas with the feet in them? that's what I read in a tabloid somewhere. haha! :) Cute idea if so.

  • gilmour owns the strat with 00001 or somethin like that but its not the first one made. close but no cigar

  • Holy fuck. Seal has HAIR? He looks so much better with a shaved head haha

  • Way out of sync. How can you go wrong with a classic song and floyd? Check out this version of the song. I've got it featured on my channel page. It's awesome.

  • GILOMUR RULES

  • nice version^^

  • It's about 4 bleeding seconds out of sync this clip, lol utterly terrible to watch. Great performance though.

  • whats the source for this clip?

  • David's playing in this is out of this world. He's pretty deserving of being the current owner of Jimi's woodstock guitar strap.

  • I think its cool that his wife bought it for him!

Nice birthday pres for him like!

  • He doesn't own it. It's in the Experience Hendrix museum in Seattle... Paul Allen bought it and donated it there.

  • thanks for posting

  • Jimmy Hendrix rocks this song out, but Seal sounds good and is keeping Jimmy Hendrix's spirit alive.
