Don't wast to much time with brushes as the brushless is far better for this application.
As you have found out brushes have a limmited usefulness.
Yes brushless motors require more complex controlers but its well worth the effort as only bearings wear out in a brushless and they should last a long long time.
I'd love to take one of those for a spin!!
