I would like to ask if this artificial electronic skin sensor is available in the market? if this sensor is available please post the link here. thank you and god bless.
speaking of "seeing is believing": they should have used an old-fashioned moving-coil instrument to visualize the conductivity over the elongation in the video.
I want to build a keyboard glove out of this stuff!
I can believe them using this for something similar to making artificial skin in which robotic limbs, or bodies will be able to sense something is touching them.....
Heh, we're almost to a Ghost In The Shell like era.
Ive been a mechanic for over 20 years, heres a list of auto uses. Im sure youve made an insulator just as flexable, right? Anyway, you can use them in door jams or any where there is a hinge on a car. these wires break constantly do to fatigue.that one is huge problem. seat occupied sensors for SRS,many uses there. suspension wiring , and I could go on and on.
wait wait wait... power feeder sheet. awesome u could just put ur phone on it and let it charge. hahaha any phone. waw actually that would be really cool
"Utilised in Unseen Ways". Like what, making my car slow down if my heart rate increases. What if I'm busy speeding to the hospital. I might need the increased heart rate and speed to survive. I think I'll stick to old cars. I like to be the one in control when I'm driving. Other than that it seems like a really cool piece of tech. Just don't take control from people in cars. It will kill more people than bad driving ever did.
I going to have to call bullshit. unless you could point me to the research team that you are working with that one could contact with such information about this technology. I actually think that the technology you require exists. its called a pressure sensor. and what would be your application besides the obvious prosthetic.
@bayskings what if I was? Set aside my wife and 2 kids. What if I was a homosexual or in the literal sense of the word queer "different"? If anyone is the homosexual its the one posting videos of themselves diving into a pool. What is that an intro video to an all male dating site? Cram it douche bag. Making fun of someone because they have an understanding just shows your ignorance. Queer bashing is for men who can't find anything else to criticize so you take easy pot shots at sexuality.

I gotta check out some of the robot/tech industry in Japan
I can't think of any other country that has so much tech development. I'm Korean, and although Korea produce great electronic products, it's new technology and robots are way behind
I think you'll find that an iphone won't cut it lol even as a comparison its not valid.
The amount of processing powered required to make use of the data would be quite a bit to say the least and yes as you mentioned power requirements are not exactly stated either but would also be an issue.
its a great new technology but what kind of computer power is required to translate it all into usable data and how big would such a unit be if as a compact processing unit?
these days the computing part is not the issue, computers can easily be made small enough (look at the iPhone for example) the major problem with technology is the power source.
wait until they make a tiny flexable battery that runs on water and produces huge amounts of power, then technology will really take off
thats....not that amazing tbh. exept the pressure idea. that is somewhat interesting. oh and the brail thing that was interesting. as far as the conductor being flexible? not that amazing sorry
could we make wire out of this that wont break.. or even replace solder joints away from tin to this material that can flex with constant temp changes rather then crack.
Uhm it monitors alertness, mental state, and grip. Clearly someone should have the freedom to fall asleep at the wheel without having some silly tech warn them.
Looks like someone here missed their ride on the short bus today.
good day!

Impressive, although not new. Such technologies were functional although expensive a few years ago.

@martinzwanenburg But to be made for the general consumption means keeping it at low cost, THAT is the hard part.

you can make flexible motherboards :D, now you can fold it to put in a robot easier :D
or roll it up
