  • I thought this was awesome the riff part does sound funny played slow but overall this is really kickass, definitely something to be happy about. SRV wasn't about speed anyways

  • Drummer is solid!!!

  • A little to slow but good try

  • bro that sounds tight man, i bet you will have that up to speed in no time, songs all about alternate picking and pull offs. check out my channel i have a similar video of me playing voodoo child live

  • @aw350meman69 I watched your video; very nice job! Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it!

  • At first I didn't like the slower pace but I had a proper listen and I ended up really enjoying your version - seems more of a re-imagining than a cover. You're an incredibly talented guitarist for sure. I'd like to hear how good that a*hole who said it sucked can play himself. Top effort

  • @maaxwell Yeah, I think the fact that speed is one of the original tune's defining characteristics is what makes it seem "wrong" to play it the way I did. Other songs could probably been slowed down without any complaint, but I understand how this could come across as odd. But you are absolutely right that this was in no way an attempt to duplicate the original, more so just "inspired by". Thanks for the feedback!

  • @maaxwell I agree with you on that one, even though I love the immense energy the fast version of this throws out through the air whenever I listen to it.

  • this was a BEAUTIFUL effort but that distorted bass has gotta go. there's a time and place for distorted bass but it isn't for a blues based song while he's playing rhythm. still, like I said though, this is great.

  • not the time, but still sound great. Very good cover, and the solos are awesome. keep up thhe good work

  • @D4ni3lbe Thank you. I appreciate it.

  • nicely done man!

  • Worse cover I ever heard,to slow, sloppy guitar playing ,wtf is with that bass tone(all distorded) and the drummer suck, over plying to much. You noobs got alot to learn what it means to be IN THE POCKET

  • @cast390 And you are the epitome of an internet troll. Brings you some kind of satisfaction to go around insulting other people for no apparent constructive reason. Funny how the people who bring this kind of negativity never have their own video uploads to back themselves up. So sorry, you didn't hurt my feelings and we are all still proud of our performance. I hope you can find a video that lives up to your standards.

  • @coolmant Insults? nah not my style I tell it like it is,cant take criticism? Grow the fuck up.

  • @cast390 You're right. I'm the one that needs to grow up... ???

  • @cast390 yeah really dude, you've got a lot to learn man. I must say, it is not the thightest cover ever, you're not always completely together, which is important to groove really well, and the recording quality is not so good, but that's the recording. Anyway, ive heard no one play it better than srv so far... don't worry, you did quite a good job. But you, cast390, you gotta grow up. and that's something you'll have to wait for and doesnt just come by practising.

  • @SGCmyASS Thanks, I appreciate your feedback!

(You see @cast390, I CAN take criticism when it is constructive. SGC criticisms were much like yours but he presented them in a way that is more useful and didn't come across as just trying to be a jerk.)

  • @cast390 to be fair mate i would like to see you do any better but until you put up a video that is as good as this then you can be quiet.

  • @cast390 People like you never cease to amaze me. This guy got up on the stage and played a bad ass song for an audience who appreciated it. You are pure scum for insulting someone like that. Wheres your video?? Oh, that's right you don't have one because your to chicken shit so you comment on other peoples videos to make yourself feel better about not being able to play as well. What a douche bag you are.

Awesome video man! great playing! Dont pay any attention to this loser your GREAT!!!

  • @CreepingDeth420 Thanks man, I appreciate your defense and your kind remarks. I don't think my video or my guitar playing is amazing, but I don't believe that I (or anyone else for that matter) deserve to get these "trolling" comments. Glad there are those out there who agree. :)

  • @cast390 Can't take criticism? What you wrote was a pure insult you prick.

  • Nice job! you look like having a very nice time!

  • little bit slow :(((((

  • dude, it sounds great. play is as slow as you want. at least your out there preforming. let's face it, this lick is something SRV copped from Jimi (intro to Hey Joe) and Jimi got it from somewhere else. Is that a Traynor? Sounds good.

  • @rstuartcpa Thanks for the kind words. Nice to know there are people who can appreciate the effort and not expect perfect replicas. And yes, it is a Traynor - I've considered getting a Fender amp, but this one has done well for me so far.

  • + speed

  • we play this song too, we learned in 5 weeks, and we play better than you.......more fast

  • @adamxp1524 Cool. Record yourselves playing it and throw it up here. I love to check it out.

  • Don't do this song unless you are going to do it right. There are lots of slower blues songs, so don't pick a fast one from a guitar legend and slow it down.

  • @sgmann09 Why not? People reinvent songs all the time. I admitted in my description that I didn't play it up to speed. I learned this for school - this video is from my senior guitar recital. If I had gotten it up to speed in time I would have played it that way, but unfortunately I didn't. I still am a big SRV fan and wanted to try my hand at a great song. All I can say is I'm sorry it didn't appeal to you, and try to appreciate for what it is.

  • @coolmant Look, I'm glad you are keepin the blues alive. However, you cant defend yourself by saying "people reinvent songs all the time" and then say "If I had gotten it up to speed in time I would have played it that way, but unfortunately I didn't". Thus, you just admitted that playing it faster is the right way and you didn't do it. Its not like im against improv or something but the tempo of that song in particular makes it special and fun to listen to.

  • @sgmann09 I admit, it came across as contradictory. But the fact is that they are two separate, but valid points to be made. Music is an art and you can't really define a "right" way to play it. What makes it special and fun to listen to is subjective, dependent upon the individual listener. So rather than your original comment, it would have sufficed to say, "I didn't like your slower tempo compared to that of the original."

  • @coolmant I probably didn't need to be so blunt about it, I'll give you that. You are also right that there is no right or wrong way to play music, but "music" is such a broad term. If you like to play your own music in a particular style then thats fine, but this isn't your music. Therefore, there is a right and wrong way to play it which was set by the creator of the piece of music SRV. Why would you have even bothered trying to get it up to speed if there was no right or wrong way to play it?

  • @sgmann09 I still disagree. Sure, I would love to have SRV's skills and be able to play it "just like him", but my point is that it is ridiculous to say that if you can't perfectly replicate it, don't play it. Where do you draw the line? Can a guy not cover a girl's song because his voice doesn't sound the same? Can someone not play a song in a different key? Songs are COVERED all the time and changed up a lot - so I still don't get your argument of having to play something "right".

  • it was good but it needs to be faster, but thats not your fault the drummer should keep the tempo better

  • its not the drummer its the fact that the guitarist cant do it as fast as SRV. you can tell this becoz the guitarist starts first.

  • good job!

(look at my bass version please)

  • Keep up the good work guys very good cover :)

  • that was pretty sick man, i liked it

  • please don't play it again

  • too slow..even my mum can play that way

  • @jeffdisario *sigh* About as slow as you, apparently. Read my video description. I already explained that it's slower than the original. You're not pointing out anything new.

  • ah ok..but i've just sayd that even my mum can play that way...something wrong?

  • Call me crazy, but I don't believe your comment was as innocent as you're trying to convince me now. I watched your video response. It is pretty good. However, I did notice some flubs on the main riff - the same reason why I decided to slow mine down a bit.

  • it was my first attempt...there are some blunders you're right, but still i think it's quite close up to the original..

when i will have some free time, i'll post it again without mistakes

    see you :)

  • its too slow

  • @xXxDANMANxXx Yes, I already pointed this out in the video description.

  • I like the shuffle rythm on this one.

  • Pretty good guys but how tall is the guy on the right? He looks like about 12 feet tal, lol. Keep rockin!

  • Comment removed

  • i have to learn that riff for my guitar lessons....its pretty sweet, sounds better at the speed u played it at...good job bro!

  • Bravooooooooooo =D good job man...!!!

  • nice but it's not speed

  • yes your right!

  • turn up the volume jeez i barely heard any of it.

  • You could have changed the notes so it was shake and bake that way you would'nt have to go so fast

  • its still good

  • sucks

  • Practice, practice,practice..

  • LOL FAIL SLOW

  • Dude, the guitar was pretty good, but I think the drummer has a broken clock. It's hard to play a tune when the drummer is slowing down and speeding up.

  • it's very good but it's out of pitch and tempo.

  • You're right. As I explained in the video description - this isn't a precise representation of Stevie's version. I didn't bother tuning my guitar down a half step like Stevie did, so this is just in E standard. I also admitted that it wasn't up to speed with Stevie's album version either - I'm no SRV, but I do my best. ;)

  • Very nice! I sat front row at your performance and this was my favorite tune of the night. :)
