@TheSpeediestsnail I just got one for Christmas. It does come with very basic instructions, but nothing as detailed as what is contained in this video. I would have liked a book to go along with the kit. But I also hear that this particular mushroom is hard to screw up.

Sure. The spawn came from Fungi Perfecti on the west coast. Look under Espresso Oyster mushroom.  Good luck - Jason

is it possible for you to tell me where did you buy the seeds?

I looked at fungi perfecti.com but i cant find pleurotus mycelium there. should i just buy the pearl oyster mushrooms instead, are they the same thing? Are pearl oyster mushrooms and oyster mushrooms the same thing?

please send a link where i can order some of the mushroom spawn you used.

this is how i grow my pink oysters. i use wild bird seeds as my spawn, and spawn them to cardboard and coffee grinds. works great

Distilled water is sterile so it is best, spring water has green mold spores. IDK anything about mineral water.

The green mold spores come from the air.

Spring water contains minerals that the mushroms need for development/

why espresso grounds? how about Arabica? or another dark coffee ground.

Hey - you can use other types of grounds. The key is that the grounds have to be somewhat dry - so be careful if you use filter coffee grounds, because they will be very wet, and you will get green mold growing. Good luck!

You can buy spawn from Fungi Perfecti. They sell all kinds of mushroom growing supplies, including kits. They call the ones I used "espresso oyster". Good luck with them mushrooms - let us all know how you get on. Jason

why did you buy new spawn? You can just transfer the mycelium that you already have growing.

Hey mreisma - thanks for asking. Just make sure that everything is very clean - wipe everything down with a damp cloth soaked in a mild solution of bleach. If you ever see green mold forming, discard that whole bucket or bag and start again. Also, I didn't know what I was doing until I had done it a couple of times...

Others have written me who use sealable bags that can be sterilized in a pressure cooker - the bag has a microfilter that prevents fungi from entering.
