M5 has more power, same displacement (5.0L). M5 power-to-weight = 8lbs/hp, ISF= 9.2lbs/hp. Therefore, the M5 has an advantage in acceleration, and ungoverned top speed. Both cars have a drag coefficient of .30 so aerodynamics is irrelevant.

The isf by no means as great as you hype it up to be.

I would be surprised if M5 has better drag co-efficient than the IS-F, IIRC IS-F has 0.28. The gearing is very important. This is why the extra hp on the M5 is offset by the advantages of the IS-F even though it has less hp. You need to think man THINK!! I would still say that the M5 will still edge out a few car lengths to the top end.

@phv628, 60-100 is not enough. You need to see 60~ 150 or 80~ 170 (or the highest speed the vehicle allows). Most cars are geared for upto quarter mile applications which is around 100~ 120 mph. BMW gearing isn't so bad but it is poor compare to the IS-F's race-like factory tuned gearing. This is part of the reason why the M3 suffers in the high speeds.

If you know anything about drivetrain power loss from the crank to the wheels, youd know that 400 whp implies approximately 500 hp at the crank, which in turn implies that the BMW driver was in M mode

Best 1/4 mile trap I have read out of an ISF was 117MPH with most going 112-115MPH. Very sweet cars but the M5 on average goes 115-118MPH in the 1/4 and also has a much higher top speed. That C6Z is just a whole different beast and you see what 505HP in a 3200LBS car can do. On the top end the M5 can also get to 190+ so it's an amazing car in it's own right.

but you do have to understand that having lighter wheels (the OP said M5 driver has lighter wheels) do make the difference in performance due to less rotational mass / and sprung weight. Also the performance varies depending on what roll speeds you race at due to different gearing at x speeds. The best way to find out is to take two "stock" cars (IS-F & M5) and do roll races, such as 60-100, 60-140, 80- 150 etc. My apologies if I made you really pissed off. I meant no personal harm, sorry.

With some mods and there are M5's and M6's going 210+mph. Thats a higher top speed than ZR1, 911 GT2, 599 GTB, etc.
Thats exactly where ive watched videos. But there is also a video of a Modded M6 (White) VS a Modded C6Z06 and the Z06 is topping out at 195+mph at the end and the M6 is still accelerating about 6 car lengths ahead which means it must've been going about 207-210MPH or so!
The price difference in the cars Id invest it in the ISF and piss on the M5, nice race though. I really like the ISF I test drove it its a beautiful car, theres 1 ISF on youtube with a twin turbo. Time to mod this ISF some more.

@IS350King Well the m5 has more torque than the isf more power, better aeros, better gearing...so what's the isf got? The m5 will hit 203-205 mph...the isf couldn't hit 200mph if it fell off a cliff. The isf loses to m3's...let's not get started with the m5 buddy. The isf is by no means a race car. My gt500 or my buddies supercharged vette, those are race built cars. The isf by no means as great as you hype it up to be.

@contagious6969, M5 is good gearing all the way to the top, but also the IS-F has very good gearing, actually a bit better than the M5. IS-F is also lighter. I would be surprised if M5 has better drag co-efficient than the IS-F, IIRC IS-F has 0.28. The gearing is very important. This is why the extra hp on the M5 is offset by the advantages of the IS-F even though it has less hp. You need to think man THINK!! I would still say that the M5 will still edge out a few car lengths to the top end.

@phv628, 60-100 is not enough. You need to see 60~ 150 or 80~ 170 (or the highest speed the vehicle allows). Most cars are geared for upto quarter mile applications which is around 100~ 120 mph. BMW gearing isn't so bad but it is poor compare to the IS-F's race-like factory tuned gearing. This is part of the reason why the M3 suffers in the high speeds.

@m6speeder Makes sense then. From a roll race a stock M5 should edge out a stock isf. But for some reason the runs never really pan out this way. I honestly dont think either car is difficult to drive, but people have proven otherwise. This is the only M5 ive ever lost to and honestly i expected to get pulled more than i did. I raced him again after taking the extra weight i had in the trunk and it was a much closer race. Check it out its the response video.

If you know anything about drivetrain power loss from the crank to the wheels, youd know that 400 whp implies approximately 500 hp at the crank, which in turn implies that the BMW driver was in M mode

Best 1/4 mile trap I have read out of an ISF was 117MPH with most going 112-115MPH. Very sweet cars but the M5 on average goes 115-118MPH in the 1/4 and also has a much higher top speed. That C6Z is just a whole different beast and you see what 505HP in a 3200LBS car can do. On the top end the M5 can also get to 190+ so it's an amazing car in it's own right.

but you do have to understand that having lighter wheels (the OP said M5 driver has lighter wheels) do make the difference in performance due to less rotational mass / and sprung weight. Also the performance varies depending on what roll speeds you race at due to different gearing at x speeds. The best way to find out is to take two "stock" cars (IS-F & M5) and do roll races, such as 60-100, 60-140, 80- 150 etc. My apologies if I made you really pissed off. I meant no personal harm, sorry.

In some track though, with good driver, the IS-F can take the C63, while in some other tracks the C63 could beat it. Also in straight line acceleration from dig C63 is a little faster. I never said IS-F beat it from dig. There's some power cut in the first gear and also the C63 has stronger gearing in the first 2 or 3 gears. Yes, your right, the M3 is faster than the IS-F at the track, I'm not denying that.

A GTR would only beat an M5 from 0-130mph. And yes i know thats what people normally race to. But some people go the distance to see what happens after 150+. After that the M5's top end is crazy. With some mods and there are M5's and M6's going 210+mph. Thats a higher top speed than ZR1, 911 GT2, 599 GTB, etc.
