  • We played this at All state this year I was in the Jr college band playing tuba. Ive never heard it as the string quartet but its amazing! We also met the composer too!!! It was amazing such a great song! And wonderful choreography for this piece as well! Loved it haha

  • Great dancing....overall!:D

    did i hear F***? at 4:13-:14

  • I remember playing this in my 5th grade band :') It was for band though, not for orchestra. One of my favorite pieces we played!

  • @LucidDivinity this isnt orchestra genius. its a string quartet and djembe.

  • @askmomordad Cool :)

  • @askmomordad Wow, that was rude. Grow up please~

  • @MrGaimanFan don't worry about it :) people think they can be jerks on the internet just because they're anonymous. i just ignore it :P

  • This is the first time I have heard with a violin as opposed to an english horn

  • yet another great work from Mackey!!!!! great piece and pretty cool dancers if i may add

  • i miss playing this song! it was in my marching band show last season

  • Comment removed

  • @iheartjimothy No. It's an original piece by John Mackey. There is also a saxophone quartet version. Where would you get the idea that this was a spiritual?

  • I was going to do it for sax quartet but I convinced my derecter to play the concert piece. Macky is a beast!

  • Flippen epic! My sax quartet is taking this piece to festival next month and this makes me so much more excited than I already was and I was really fricken excited! =D

  • the longest five minutes ever! in a good way. it always seemed longer to me when dancing it...thanks robert b!

  • AMAZING!! That"s all I have to say!!

  • we use this as our opener in our marching band show <3 amazingness only its sped up alot but its still pretty awesome either way

  • Gees, I could barely play this song sitting down.

  • haha well i wouldnt have been able to play it if it was this slow. the beginning we made 200 bpm and it didnt go below like 140 bpm so it was pretty exciting if you wanna hear how it sounds with my marching band ill send you the link

  • Please do!

  • hey i havent been on here in like forever and i tried posting that link and it wouldnt so if you really wanna hear it go to the search box and type in pimba 2009 and go to the one that has kiski area marching band and the users name is mjdurkin.

  • Hmmmmm J'aime ca -

    C'est toi Jon, l'un des deux ?

  • amazing

the choreography and the music put together is just fantastic

i love the energy in battle's choreography, its so raw

  • Wow! Great choreography and performance (regardless of what a few of the others have commented). Nice job!

  • i<3 john mackey =]

  • omg this song is so amazing.

my wind ensemble might play it in the spring, and omg i get to play the bass clarinet solo ;D

  • The dance is pretty much about a kinky drunken fight.

  • These Dancers are so talented! Our band is about to start learning this song and I am super psyched!

  • this is super amazing!!!

  • omg this is hilarious! our band is playing this. we're thinking of breaking out into this interpretive dance right in th middle of rehearsal. it would be glorious.

4:44-end. by far the best part.

  • I can't stop laughing at their dancing, it's really weird especially at 3:09, what is that?

  • get some culture friend. This choreography works very well with what Mackey wrote.

  • OMG this is awesome

yah I'm part of FOC(Flash of Crimson)

this is soo cool tho =]i love how they dance

the guards dance isnt anywhere close to this tho

I like our dance tho and all our work tht we as a band do =]

    lol

    XD

  • My Band director in Cumming Ga redid the band version of this song so our marching band(Flash of Crimson) could have it for our opening act. It's almost like the original, but it's only 2 mins...

  • we played the band version and I LOVED it!!

the dancing and stuff is very...strange though. it made me laugh when the one guy did a booty drop at 1:10. xD

  • woops i meant bothering

  • well... if ur talking to me... then no... u don't play us... Ahs

  • I think the only solos we have in the show are the Bari Sax/Sousa soli...not a solo, lol. And that's not even "Strange Humors", it's "Rush Hour"..Oh well.

It's pretty cool, I love the show lol. And I -wished- the violin marched, but alas, she is pit *sigh*

  • Now our school doesn't have a pit... we (or me and the drum major) have this philosophy that if you can't march it, it doesn't belong in marching band and if you want it in marching band, you better figure out how to march it! And I love bari sax. Played it for a grand total of 6 days...for marching band of course. Normally, I do bass clarinet!

  • Awesome, I love bass clarinets <3 they sound so cool lol. I play flute myself, But I want to learn to play melly @.@ That's weird I know lol. I love our bass clarinet player, he's a 7th grader and he's adorable <3 He's the honorary band midget. And he's got a mowhawk!!!

We have um...7 or 8? Pit kids lol, and only one is a High schooler XP And he's an ass lol

  • yeah that is why you couldn't play the bass clarinet (ppppssstttt she wanted to march it but the band director(sp) didn't let her lol) and yeah i play bass clarinet too yeah XP lol

  • wow this is frickin cool... i think we play you guys tomorrow night (im in the WOHS band, if you're not in UHS band then sry for nothering you.) can't wait to see it!

  • Ha-ha, my marching band show is based off of Strange Humor this year. We even have a violin soloist on the sideline (an ELECTRIC violin, how cool is that??) Lol wow actually hearing the real music to Strange Humors is awesome XP I LOVE it thanks for posting it here ^.^ Question: Are the dancers supposed to be gay birds or something? If they are that's odd because our violinist is going to be dressed as a bird...>.> Lol

  • I actually like the Wind Version better. My friend got the English Horn solo, which was cool when our school played it. It sounds so cool that you are doing in for marching band. This year our theme is Queen and we are doing Bohemian Rhapsody... it's pretty cool... And a marching violin... Why couldn't I think of that!!!!

  • That was so amazing!
