I had 10 feeder fish in the tank. 20-30 min in their new home, a 55 gallon tank for right now since I'm a rookie. They were all gone. feed them minnows. just buy some minnows from a bait store it will be cheaper then buying gold fishes. i always feed my piranhas minnows. its cool how the minnows stay in a group and the piranhas just pick them out one by one.

Thats because you kept giving them live prey. their use to it now so you gotta keep feeding it to them. Piranas normally dont Eat Live prey. if it is live then it will be Very sick. what they do is they push one of the group out to give it a test bite. then if their is no reaction that might cause harm to the fish they all swarm it and strip it clean.

Agreed, but cows are not thrown into a pit with hungry lions before you get your burger. throwing live goldfish mice etc into a rectanglar glass tank is not only very cruel, it does nothing good for the Piranha. I discussed these youtube videos at lengh with my local aquarist store. They would not recommend trowing live food to Piranha. I also keep tropical fish comunity tank and give my fish frozen daphnia and flake food..I get no pleasure from killing of anything.

Do some research on Piranhas.. They don't like aquarium lights because there eyes are sensitive to light.. They dont have eyelids nor can they regulate the amount of light that comes through there eyes like people can.. Your piranhas will have abnormal behavior with light and will always be nervous.. U have some reading to do.

on the other hand like most fish , they will become comfortable with their surroundings. obviously the light isnt affecting these fish , as they are readily eating in the open. they dont seem shy or hesitant at all. this is proably because of the abudance of plants that provide them with a sense of security.
