  • I'll have to say yngwies guitar really complements joes vocals, and more so he quits overplaying for the verses, just fast fills.Joe you almost tamed him.lol

  • Who thinks this song deserved more recognition ?

  • This video was shot at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum in Knoxville TN. (strange but true). There were probably about 500 people in actuality but the way they shot it made it seem larger. They had an announcement that day that if you wanted to be in an MTV video to go to the coliseum, they didn't even announce who it was but it got around that it was Yngwie.

  • yngwie is no joke he bad in a goodway

  • Yngwie and commercialism just dont work.

  • lmao, it's so fucking ridiculous :D

  • 3:00 lol

  • Uffff Yngwie! Brutal.. 80s Forever...

    Esperamos Que Visites Colombia ...

    Te Apoyados Desde Colombia.. Rockers..

  • hated his tone on this album compared to the previous 3. sry yngwie

  • 2:10 rock in peace marshall cab...

  • this song is the tits!!! love it!!!

  • i cant believe yngwie did a song like this i love it but i never stumbled upon this album

  • One of my favourite albums of all time - the kind i like to thrash!!! Those Dimarzio pickups are sick with the floyd rose trem.

  • @knuckleheadzup01 What Floyd Rose? That's just a standard tremolo

  • One of my favourite albums of all time - the kind i like to thrash!!!

  • Yes but it's a good quality cheese! Lol

  • Cheesy stuff.

  • AHHH..I Soooo Miss the 80s. When metal ruled, Rap was a novelty and when girls knew how to dress and do their hair.

  • Or, maybe his birth name is Ving (as in Ving Rhames) and he thought it would be cool to use the Pig Latin version? Only spell it with a "w" to freak out us Americanos?

  • How do you say Yngwie in Pig Latin?

  • cheesy as cheese, over-the-top., jaja

  • okay, me being a serious Rush fan, means the bar is set high. kirk is a great, but it is true that after black, metallica took themselves down. YM, also a great, but didnt last very long. plus too many songs sound the same, however great. as usual, Rush wins.. the new one? CARAVAN

  • Soooo cheesy, but still cool.

  • this video blew my mind when i first saw it on the chart show on itv it was my introduction to guitar virtuosos

  • Joe Lynn Turner is such an Awesome Vocalist. I wish he would come to the west coast on tour! Love Yngwie's string shredding! Thanks for posting this video! I miss Music like this!

  • this was yngwie..not today's crap...this..is yngwie..

  • AWESOME

  • IMO, this was the end of the Yngwie. Why couldn't he stay true to his last albums?

  • If we just close your eyes

    we'll be in heaven tonight

  • Joe lynn Turner is a great and humble guy.Yngwie is not so humble..lol!

  • @Nevigo Yngwie is the polar opposite of humble.

  • the best vocals ever ;)

  • Joe...I love you to the bone!!! You are GOD and sing like one! And this song is kiskass!!!!!!!!

  • two years after joe gone to deep purple for the " slaves and masters " album!

  • the ONLY album i can abide joleen turners singing.

  • 33 people don't know anything about practicing 6-8 hours a day... this guitar playing is godlike... :)

  • Did the singer say, " butt-holes on fire" ? ? ?

  • Mmmhm Joe-Lynn turner sure was smexy ....Malmsteen is so cool and I think Odyssey was his best album XD

  • I hate fucking people clicking dislike....GO FUCK YOURSELF POSERS

  • no kidding Joe Lynn Turner was awesome in this album

  • @jimmybarclay2 Joe was easily one of the best singers in this album I'm not going to lie.

  • i like alot!!

  • 33 people that know shite about music.

  • this song is paradise

  • The only reason Yngwie is a full on shredder now is because we was a major cokehead back in the day, and his brains took care of the speedy part. Now that he's quit, he needs something to make life more interesting, so he plays superduper fast. Simple logical explanation.

  • oh man, take me back to the 80's please!!.....Malmsteen kicked and still kicks ass on guitar......

  • @bonerock... 1 dorko is still using this lame ass joke on U-tube ! And if you keep using it, YOU will be in hell, & the 33 imaginary people you are speaking of, will still be 33 imaginary people, making 1 dorko think he's funny !

  • that is wat i call talent =o

  • Where can I get this video in top quality?

  • @FrankSalazarJr Louvers uploaded the best quality of this video, you can find it in my favorites.

  • 33 people are in hell tonight

  • @bonerock1 and counting....

  • @bonerock1 forever

  • all hail malmsteen lord of stratocaster may you bless us with mintage licks and awsome riffs amen! 70's rule!

  • @BrainyBoy1200 Erm this song was made in 1988...

  • @BrainyBoy1200 did u mean 80s rule :D

  • @BrainyBoy1200 except this is from the late 80's

  • @BrainyBoy1200 This is from the '80s.

  • Simply the best guitar in the world,,thanks master!!!!!!!!

  • YOUR ALL NOOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • El Mejor Guitarrista

  • @unravelled1962 dude this is no eddie wannabe, he did this at the same time as eddie in sweden and japan....btw eddie cant even do somethin like this.......and no one cares who u prefer...although i love ufo as well, but its all just personal opinion.........steve vai, paul gilbert, satch, vito bratta, yngwie, there is many more and they didnt copy eddie and they r from the 80's......and u should try listening to all those notes instead of hearing just one big jumbled piece, its beautiful

  • That solo was TERRIBLE for this song! It was completely different from the overall feel of the song, the timing was god awful... it was like they accidentally recorded a different solo over the masters for this song.

    NOTE TO ALL SHREDDERS:

Making sure a solo COMPLIMENTS a song is more important than showing off technique! This solo was just distracting and painful to listen to. There's no shame in pacing yourself-- in fact it should be encouraged.

  • @loserbrett get used to it, almost every yngwie solo sounds like that

  • @DiogoAlmeida95 And that's why I don't understand why people love this guy so much. His skills are impressive, but it's as if he has no idea what song structure is and why it's important. To me, he's in the same boat as Michael Angelo Batio-- they're both impressive, but they're both too arrogant to do anything remarkable with their talents. It baffles me that they're revered as gods, and yet the likes of Paul Gilbert and Ron Thal go practically unnoticed.

  • @loserbrett Paul Gilbert his almost as famous as Yngwie, and really? you dont understand why people love him soo much? HIS INSTRUMENTALS ARE GREAT! when he does normal songs like this (with vocals) when the solo comes is like shred shred shred but kinda boring, except some solos, but when he does his instrumentals his completly diffrent! still i like both sides of Yngwie

  • @DiogoAlmeida95 His instrumentals are great, but that's because instrumentals by solo artists are typically made for that kind of showboating. However if you take him out of that instrumental setting, it's almost as if he doesn't know what he's doing. As I've pointed out, he is an impressive guitarist, but only in a shredding style. He really can't do much else.

  • @loserbrett I disagree

  • @loserbrett listen to his song ''save our love'' or ''I´m my own enemy'' - beautiful ballads, and they´re NOT instrumentals!

  • @loserbrett i like the solo, its his style and fits the song fine, and his timing is great .....he is one of the best phrasers of all time...i doubt he is just showing off technique, fast doesnt mean its not right......in actuality its perfectly right but some ppl get overwhelmed by all the music coming at them and dont kno wat to think

  • @westjt17 Yeah, you're right. The problem is that I'm covered in music jism which has apparently left me confused.

Read what I've been saying. My argument wasn't that the solo itself is bad, I was saying that it was bad for this song. Meaning that the solo is very out of place in this song.

    /watch?v=GxHpqYmFRcs

Note how the solo matches the style of the song, even though Gilbert is an amazing shredder. Malmsteen's solo didn't compliment his song. That's all I was saying.

  • @loserbrett

Exactly. The song itself is fucking great, but Malmsteen just shits all over it with his over-indulgent egocentric guitar wanking.

  • @Jaserace1 It's good to see that others can make that distinction. Apparently, Malmsteen's fans think their almighty God can't fuck up every once in a while.

  • @loserbrett i think the solo is fine, it is a great little classical piece within itself, and if u dnt wanna hear a fast solo then go to another video....simple solution

  • @westjt17 You missed the point, the solo doesn't fit the song-- at all! The solo is fine, the song is fine, that doesn't mean that putting the solo and the song together will be fine.

  • @loserbrett oh well im sorry he didnt make a typical solo....it doesnt have to fit according to what most people want to hear, it should fit how he wants....if he didnt then it wouldnt be yngwie, i like the solo as it is in this song better than 90% of other guitarists' solos

  • @westjt17 It's not supposed to be about what the listener wants, including Malmsteen himself. Art isn't about creating something that's pleasing to anyone, including the artist; it's about what enhances and builds on the piece itself.

This solo adds nothing to the song, and stops its style dead in its tracks. It completely ignores the feel of the rest of the song and detracts from what it was obviously supposed to be-- a poppy monster ballad.

  • @loserbrett to malmsteen's ears this solo does build to the song and that is all that matters because it is HIS song, he doesnt have to put in a solo that you think would fit it better, he puts in a solo that the real yngwie fans will want to hear...he has never wanted to compromise and never wanted to sound like the other guitarists so he did not play a solo that you would expect....HE PLAYED WHAT HE WANTED TO and i would much rather hear this and so would many other good guitarists

  • @loserbrett i guess that in solos players cant have their own style anymore, it just has to be what mainstream music fans want to hear in a song....its to bad because u are obviously right and have the superior opinion and i guess u just know best dont u??

  • @westjt17 You can like Malmsteen and not suck his dick with every solo that he does. For example, I'm a fan of Metallica. I think they've created some of the most amazing music in rock/metal history. However, if someone points out that The Black Album was shit, I agree with them because it was a shitty album. Just because you like a band or an artist doesn't mean that they can't release some terrible material every once in a while. This solo is shit, just admit it. He won't care if you do.

  • @loserbrett there are other songs of his i dont like, plenty of them actually, but this isnt one (including the solo) go back and listen to ur metallica play another song in E. and then listen to kirk hammett play a simple solo covering it up with his terrible wah pedal playing....wats wrong with me liking this solo??? its my opinion. u listen to simple music like metallica so u obviously wouldnt like this solo bc u cant comprehend it. im sorry but thats just the way it is.

  • @westjt17 I didn't compare Kirk to Malmsteen, it was an example that even your favorite musicians are capable of releasing total shit. If I were to compare ANY guitarist to Malmsteen, it would be Paul Gilbert-- and Gilbert would play circles around Malmsteen because he plays solos that compliment the song; He COULD show off all the time, but he doesn't because the song as a whole is more important than the inflated egos of the musicians themselves. Malmsteen needs to learn that.

  • @loserbrett he definately should slow it down sometimes, but who r we to tell him wat to do, i think hes earned the right to play watever he wants....bc the FACT is that he is one of the most influentual guitarists of all time, and wat he did in the time period he was in is amazing. who says u compared kirk and YM??? i was just stating facts: KIRK SUCKS. yngwie solos compliment the song in a classical sense, but u seem to like mainstream more (pentatonics) its not ur preferred genre so leave!!

  • @westjt17 You were the one that brought Kirk into this, not me. You may not have stated any comparison outright, but you mentioned him specifically as a point of reference when referring to Malmsteen's technique. That's offering a comparison.

I never said that Kirk was better than or even close to Malmsteen. I merely mentioned that I like Metallica-- never mentioning Kirk at all. The only guitarists that I've mentioned was Paul Gilbert and Ron Thal, who don't have mainstream styles at all.

  • @loserbrett paul and ron are both great players...we all have our own opinions and preferences on music and theres no problem with liking a particular song.

  • Awesome song! Long live the 80's!!!

  • This is awesome. Great band. Amazing songs.

  • 33 people can not afford a marshall 'wall' and play like yngwie

  • Comment removed

  • @unravelled1962 Haha I totally agree with ya! I loved the 80s metal bands, their musicianship and guitar tones....but the whole crossdresser/cheeseball videos ruined the whole thing...throw in the whole power ballad cliches and it was a perfect recipe for disaster! But all things said, its really rare to hear a "new" metal band that rivals the talent of Van Halen,Extreme,White Lion,Dokken,Def Leppard,Ratt, etc

  • Why can't the night last forever?

  • I seriously laughed at the "Psycho Cam", hahaha.

  • Anyone get a good tally on the number of Yngwie high kicks in this video? I keep losing track.

  • I thought Mark Boals from Trilogy was just a hair better. But both are better than that dude that was on Rising Force.

  • @walktrotcanter01 Jeff Scott Soto? No way man! Soto kicked ass!

  • I can not get over how amazing this song is <3

  • what is the name of singer

  • @rockerneum Joe Lynn Turner of course!

  • awesome vid, thanks for uploading =)

  • people who dislike may have paint their guitar blue and throw 'em into the sea...

  • magnificent!

  • @unravelled1962 AMEN BRO!!!

  • quisiera ser la guitarra de yngwie

  • Pure Shredder Cheddar.

Is the crowd sfx really necessary through the entire video?

  • @DOMINOSMOFO Yes. It's entirely necessary. It's not even open for debate.

  • @DOMINOSMOFO Shredder Cheddar - i like that phrase, a lot! never heard it before.

  • @Will137

Like that uh? I came up with it a few years back when trying to describe the cheesiness of DragonForce.

Thus Shredder Cheddar was born. I always hoped it would catch on. ;)

  • 2:37 bitch!!!! wish i could do that!!!

  • 2:37 bitch!!!! wish i could do that!!!

  • 3:37 bitch!!!!!! wish i could do that!

  • No audience members were harmed in the the making of this video.

  • There are like a thousand kicks!!!, shame on you bruce lee

  • There are like a thousand kicks!!!, shame on you bruce lee

  • 3:38 Ahahaha

    Barry rocks!XDXDXDXD

  • Yngwie at his peak. Turner too

  • I still feel a rising force!! Perhaps it's the Cuervo!! LOL!! Still love Yngwie....

  • Had the pleasure of seeing Joe Lynn Turner w/Yngwie...One of my fav concerts of all time.Tthe Ocean Center in Daytona Beach is an intimate venue..perfect for this type of show....Black n Blue.....Lita Ford....Yngwie..and a bottle of Jose 1800.....perfection!

  • it's so cheesy, yet it rocks so hard lol.

    Love the guitars obviously.

  • I f`n love that guitar roll before the chorus....

  • that rocked!

  • whatever happened to the singer

  • @bigedick2004 Joe Lynn Turner has a successful Solo career and now is part of Over the Rainbow as well as some other projects

  • They could have gone places if Yngwie's ego had allowed him to share the spotlight with JLT.

  • Everything JLT touches or sings turns to GOLD....Beautiful Voice from a Beautiful Soul..Love JLT...:)

  • @rsweetfan The best singer Yngwie had. Too bad he let him go after only one album.

  • @yamila2068 You got that right.....

  • @yamila2068 I agree,I believe he sang for Rainbow too at some point if i'm not mistaken

  • outstanding preformance!

  • joe lynn turners voice was just amazing on this record to me this is the best complete record malmsteen has made.

  • es el mejor

  • yngwies best singer

  • Best Yngwie song of all time

  • a star yngwie

  • Yngwie, still the emperor of metal. Hail

  • 0:51 LOOL.

    Great song.

  • Ah yes, the bloated 80s metal poofed out poodle hair scene...it just can't die off.

  • Joe Lynn Turner sounds alot like Paul Stanley at the start of the song and the chorus. Anyway, Yngwie is a great guitarist. Probably the biggest name ever in the history of neo-classical guitar.

  • @PowerofJohras thats what i thought too, the whole songs sounds like kiss

  • this is such an amazing song

  • brilliantly cheesy

  • What's the name of the band?

  • @LeyendNkTh Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force. If your lookin' up their stuff, just type in yngwie malmsteen

  • oookaayy there janick gers hahaha

  • That......really......sucked. Yngwie is so much better when he sticks to the non verbal

  • Yngwie had to go more commercial at this point,it was 88 I believe.however I love early stuff.Great guitar on the album though...

  • Yngwie is an incredible guitar player... (saw him at the Boathouse in Va. Beach in '88) the major problem is that he never expanded beyond his "Bach & roller" genre. He loves the niche he's in, however all the music starts to sound the same after a few albums. Bands like Rush and Dream Theater, though different genres to Yngwie were bands that experimented quite heavily with different styles. Fluid though he is on guitar, his demise musically is his rigidity in style.

  • @CigarJunkie Well said sir :)

  • i love yngwie but i got two words for you and thats it: Michael Schenker

  • espectacular

  • yea Jens Johannson on keyboards, would later go on to play with Stratovarius, great song, great album, classic Yngwie

  • i want to vomit jajajajajaja

  • I love Malmsteen but i never knew he had a glam Metal band!!! this is cool!

  • lol he is singing with an instrument mic.

  • pow!

  • The general image I get from this reminds me of Van Halen, I prefer Yngwie more than Halen as a guitar player.

  • i love how hes right handed, and plays an upside down left handed white strat at 2:45. lmfao

  • wtf do yousee Yngwie thats hilarious he was putting his neck between his legs like it was his dick lol

  • @Evenleeyod Thats why im so glad i grew up in the 80s

  • @frofro73 my theory is that i was born in the wrong time period... i love shred metal but sadly i grew up in the 90's :(

  • It's really depressing that our parents got to go to concerts like this when popular bands were in their prime and were GOOD. I love rock music from the 70's and 80's but every time I hear it I can't help thinking "where the f*ck did music start to go wrong?" Probably when the radio limited songs to 4 or less minutes, dooming us to short little pop songs and Hotel California-minus the solo. Welcome to the the Dark Age of music, where in 20+ years there won't be any memorable music from now.

  • @Evenleeyod your completely right

  • best singer he ever had, tbh

  • @2TUFSS You think Joe Turner is better than Jeff Scott Soto?

  • who sings in this video?

  • @Fluffypopcicle Joe Lynn Turner.

  • @AlphaBlast1

    thanks :)
