  • Fillmore West and Eric Burdon and War. Memories.

  • "no body feels like workin' panama red is back in town"

  • Fabulous ..Many memories...I think

  • One of my favorite albums from back then!

  • @bobbiejaeger - AMEN, I just said the same thing on another site. I've WORSHIPED this album since I bought it in 1975. It's very "bittersweet" every time I listen to any of the songs on it. Sure does bring back such HAPPY memories & so sad at all the friends that have died since that time. Oh well → that's LIFE. Anywho... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! 3:30 pm 12-25-11

  • I'd like to smoke some!

  • Having been stationed at Howard AFB in Panama for two years, I'm eminently familiar with "Panama Red", and his many "cousins". ;-)

Always loved this version from Old & In The Way. Thanks for posting it!

  • Old and in the Way is just one of those many groups of musicians that Jerry liked to come together with and play.

Panama Red was written by Peter Rowan but recorded by the New Riders and kinda became their "signature song" Some don't know that Jerry also played pedal steel on NRPS first album (the one w/the cactus) Also on that album were Mickey Hart, AND Commander Cody. If you look at the back of NRPS albums you'll see many names you know. Cheryl

  • I thought this was New Riders Of The Purple Sage?

  • @worldunited1234 The original is. Jerry and crew covered it.

  • @worldunited1234 thats another jerry side band!

  • Thanks for sharing!!
