F1 cars in simplest terms can lap a track much faster than anything else on earth with ridiculous acceleration and even crazier handling. All Nitrous has is a higher density of oxygen. The air we breath is about 21% Oxygen and 79% other gasses, Nitrous is about 36% Oxygen this added oxygen add additional pertrol and it allows for a larger and more powerful explosion during combustion. Hence creating more power to the wheels and a faster car.

@RandomDirectors Just did a read up. Basically pure O2 will destroy your engine effectivly. Too much of a good thing if that makes sense. In order to run pure O2 you would need some fuel with a massive octane rating otherwise the engine would most likely just start to detonate. Not to mention the massive massive risk of carrying around such a combustable substance that would be so unstable in your engine would be almost suicide.

@dalesalsa they weren't built for the 1/4. even the veyron does around ten seconds which is pretty fast. your typical mulleted drag camaro is faster. they're built for the the race track, therefore more important than all out speed is throttle response and balance. my ford ranger could probably get a better time at a road or autox course than a strictly dragstrip driven car.
