thanks so much for your recipe, i made ven pongal the first time based on your recipe. However, it was very heavy, so the second time i made it, i did half measure of dal to rice and it was very light
thanks for this... I always did the boil the rice and dal first and then did kind of a tadka later... One thing I guess all the viewers would appreciate is the quality of the audio... At times, it is not that audibile and/or scrambled.... Please keep up the good work.... :)
there is no hard and fast rule in this recipe that you should add the salt in the end only .. you could add it in while cooking in the pressure cooker also, but it is my general practise ( in this case ) to add it only in the end.. :-)
yes, i agree that the best would be to put fresh coconut, but sometimes, and i think you will agree, we have to accept something less than the best in exchange for some convenience, a trade off .. all the best cheers :-)
thanks for viewing and posting your comments.. i really appreciate them, yes having a pressure cooker makes cooking much easier, especially indian recipes.. pudina chutney is mint chutney, and i remember i had got the best mint leaves while i was in the usa for a visit sometime ago .. it is a dip used with many dishes, idli, vada, dosa etc. almost any dish ( i've posted a video on that ) ..and yes.. 2 measures is any cup you would use to measure your volumes, and like two cups,, enjoy :)
u hve mae it the ulta way . first v hve to cook the rice n dal together with saltn only after its done we have to add fried pepper, cumin n curry leaves.
i found this method to be easier and the results as good as the best ..maybe you could try it out for comparison ? thanks for viewing my video and commenting ...:)
Thank you for this great recipe I have just finished making this with help from the wonderful kadai and am now sitting down with a nice big bowl full of this and some parata I have made. great job thank you Srivats.
belated bon appetit ! i'm glad you are enjoying your cooking .. there is so much satisfaction in cooking your own stuff and the excitement of learning ! for my part, i'm glad that i could contribute in whatever small way to your very satisfying meals !
Looks delicious. I expect this can be frozen? Too time consuming just to make a small amount I think. I've not heard of this dish before so it will be fun to try out something new.
not only is it delicious, but also highly regarded .. in fact it gets its name from a very important festival called Pongal celebrated in south india to thank the gods for the good harvest ! there is also a sweet version of this dish called sakre ( sugar ) pongal and both are a must during this festival ...yes it can be frozen,, but is best served hot with chutney or ghee ( clarified butter ) ..do try it .. im sure you'll love it ! :-)
Very impressive! Thank you. Can't wait to try it out. How long do you fry the ingredients before you put them in the pressure cooker? Just that you seemed to be doing if for a long time...how do you know its time to transfer to the cooker? Many thanks.
