The Military Industrial Media Complex, is the enemy of truth.

I was once told by a news editor at CBS TV News, during a morning staff meeting: 'Truth! We don't care about TRUTH !!! We care about R-A-T-I-N-G-S and if you forget it, you'll be fired !!! '

I was fired shortly after that for forgetting. Now I spend my time exposing them for the filthy lying traitors that they are!!!

Corporate America is so messed-up it's ridiculous, but lets be fair and look at 2 points.

1) The bonus system rewards executives when losses are less than forecast so even a loss can result in rewards. Would you praise a fire-fighter that marginalized damage and saved lives but part of the house still burned?

2) many of the absurd risks taken (sub-prime loans) were required by the government in the late 90's. Capitalism would have saved us if we listened and didn't give in to mob mentality.

THe Mass Media that lies should be treated as criminals. We are tricked into wars through mass manipulation. IF people knew the truth there is no way there would be the level of wars we have today.

You know some times the CEO does such a bad job that companies would rather just pay them huge bonuses to get them to leave.

The news media in America is worthless. They should be ashamed of themselves, and huge swathes of the American public should be ashamed of themselves for consuming such filth and supporting the current sordid state of the industry.

We want Walter Cronkite back. We want some integrity in news.

@Redfingers I agree. Meaningful, in-depth coverage of stories which impact most people is rare from mainstream sources; PBS still provides some such coverage, though it seems to be gradually declining even there. There are some intrepid, capable reporters in selected alternative media, but they don't have exposure to mass markets (which IMHO says something about mass markets themselves, since consumers have ready access to these people).

@Tigerpaws9097826 *ahem* Alternet, Democracy Now, ThinkProgress, Truth-out, The Young Turks, RT are just a few of the really good indie media that can do a lot. PBS just put out the very good "Lost in Detention" video that shows the problem of immigration in minute detail. Yes, they have some hit and misses but they sometimes nail it pretty good.

@Jyagos1 I totally affirm the quality of those news sources you've cited with which I'm familiar (with the caveat that RT is, by their own admission, funded by the Kremlin, and perhaps has an agenda). I like Greg Palast and Commondreams(.)org as well. PBS indeed still has some hits, but I pine a bit for shows like Bill Moyer's Journal - now gone. My point though is that penetration of most of these outlets into public awareness is almost certainly less than 5%, which is regrettably low.
