  • Meyers is just a horrible writer.

  • "someone actually spelled 'jerk' with a 'g'....huh...anyway"

  • Carrie was Awsome

  • First point: He's a writer and has more experience in doing so, he'd know a good book, an intelligent man would read something before he'd bash something, obviously he knows his stuff seeing as he's done it many many years thus can judge whether or not a book is good.

Second point: The films based off his books will be remembered for ages, as a film student I can say that the shawshank redemption is infinity better than all 3 films so far (soon to be 5 seeing as they copied harry potter.)

  • STEPHEN King Is the MAN XD.

  • Stephen King is the KING!!!

Stephanie Mayer is just a fat ass mormon with NO TALENT!!!

  • stephen kings literature is more relatable than stephanie myers work i mean twilight is just another phase, but the shinning and many of his movies and books will live on for all ages except anyone under 12

  • You should really read more of his books! I love Carrie but its not his best. If you're freaked out easily, you probably should wait for IT, The Shining, Salem's Lot, and Pet Sematary.

  • 2:18 i like how she only can defend herself with violence, that only proofs that stephen is right (Yes i know it's a fake)

  • twilight sucks!

  • lmao. comparision? omfg just die!! stephen is the king

  • The Dark Tower Rulezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • An I'm not the only guy out there reading them. Not to mention I know many grown women reading them as well. Just cause she writes in a very lazy way. Doesn't mean there not good King's writing was almost to much for me, but I enjoyed them. Meyer's writing appeals to readers. For there on reasons and people critisizing others for a lighter style of writing. Or cause she OH MY GOD changed the vampire to something new and different. You all need to grow up and learn to like new things.

  • Ok first of all I am a big King fan, but that doesn't mean it's all I read. I was reading long before many in my age group growing up. I grew up in the late 70's to early 80's there weren't many kids in the mood to read. An I was reading books a good 10 years over my age group. So I got into King pretty young and grew up. Being thought of as a extremely weird kid. I disagree with the statement can't write worth a darn. I've read all of the Twilight books and I'm a 35 year old guy.

  • @JoshK35000 I'm a huge Gaiman fan, but I read tons of other stuff. I get that. I also understand moving on from something you like as a kid. It seems that you really missed the point of the video.

The point is, King was prompted on his comments and had the right to say them. Was he 100% correct? For a lot of people it gets to be a matter of opinion. For me, yes he's correct. Her writing is bland and her grammar is awful. Am I taking away your right to enjoy it? Absolutely not.

  • @JoshK35000 I never said you were the only guy out there. It's just a highly female populated fanbase, so I understand that you expected me not to realize that. But I do.

What I dislike about Meyer's writing is more on the subject matter, however, than her actual style. Sure, it irks me that something I believe to be below D grade writing is published and adored, but I'm more concerned about the anti-feminist subtext, to be completely honest.

  • @JoshK35000 Lastly, I do have another video on the vampire thing and I have answered a question or two related to that subject, so check that out if you'd really like to see the inner workings of the mind of an anti.

I can like new things. In fact, I love trying new things because old things get boring. From my viewpoint, it seems like you need to grow up and realize that just because someone disagrees with you or pokes fun at something you like does not make it a personal attack.

    Thanks.

  • @JoshK35000 I'm a guy and I read them and they are shit. I've ranted several times about this so I'm just going to end it here. It's shit and Twilight has made a huge blot on what people consider to be good in the world of books for at least a decade.

  • He was justified in his comment, it wasn't at all interesting that I forgot a lot of the books, don't remember shit (A thing that happens when I don't care to remember things), and I had read all the books. All SM did was put a pen to paper, did bare writing with lazy attitude (totally green), and made billions. A kinda rip off in hind sight now.

  • i'm sorry i can't get this is out of my head: twinkling vegetarians vampires?! you have to be kidding me! not bashing twilight but whatever little respect i have for the vampire genre is almost gone. if the vampire diaries ever get just like twilight, i will never again watch another vampire movie. btw, i love your video. sorry about the rant but i had to get it out.

  • @30kitagreen is alright lol XD

Bash Twilight as much as you want. It's a favorite pastime of mine. :3

  • @superskh i just don't want anyone to get offended. but the truth is the light. thank you for being understanding

  • @30kitagreen oh don't lose hope just yet, there are several very good vampire stories and stuff involving Vampires that i can recommend if you want your faith back :)

Hellsing, an awesome manga with some of the most violent Vampires ever

Trinity Blood, they may be aliens in this manga but it's intriguing ;P

The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, essentially a well written Twilight

Need any more recommendations let me know ;P

  • @HeinrichKonig thank you so much. i really love vampires and hated to see the genre get torn to bit by the twilight series. i think i will check them out

  • @HeinrichKonig The Vampire Chronicles by A. Rice are basically... good literature, written by a well-read author who did her research and actually tought a solid story before just putting to paper everything that came to mind without any order whatsoever.

Stephen King also has a wonderful vampires story in Salem's lot. I recommend it!

  • @camuialexa thank you i will check them out

  • @30kitagreen Wanna regain your respect for vampires?

Then read good stuff, like: Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, S. King's Salem's lot, P.Z. Brite's Lost Souls, or something like that.

If you want to watch good vampire movies, then move to: "Interview with the vampire" (but ignore Queen of the Damned, please), Dracula 2000, Bram Stoker's Dracula, both adaptations of Salem's lot, The Lost Boys, etc.

  • I used to love vampires until I saw twilight... That's even worse than blade

  • is the Sombra Corp manipulating the teenagers^^

  • you gotta admit though... twilight's pretty lame. i felt like i was gay just watching the comercials, needless to say i've neither read the books or seen the movies... and don't say that i need to experience it to call it crap. i've never ate $h!t before, i'd imagine it tastes real bad though. that's the feeling i get from this series.

  • @deleteall2000 No worries, I'm an anti, I know :3

Good point. I'm pretty sure shit tastes like shit. So reading shit, is still reading shit.

  • superskh I recommend Geralds Game, Insomnia, Dreamcatcher. : )

  • Rowling and King Should Gang Rape Stephenie if they teamed up.

  • my dear superskh, brevity is your friend; digress a little less and thse videos would be better.

  • @moonlily1 This is before I typed out what I was planning to say, so my wandering mind took over. I think I do a BIT better nowadays, but I still get a bit wordy to make sure what I'm saying is more clear than it is to the point.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, and I will try!

  • Cujo > everything Twilight has to offer. Seriously, that dog would tear everyone and everything apart in the Twilight universe.

  • The Stand, Lisey's Story, The Green Mile, vs. a crappy attempt at an anne rice novel, but ended up with a sparkling love triangle in an easy 400 pages

  • You want real characters with depth, conflict more in tone with reality read the King, you want flat, wimpy, winny personas from lala land, read other garbage!

  • I love JAMES PATTERSON AND STEPHEN KING!! I had to emphasise that. I think it's been blown over and too many Teenage Drama Queens are bashing Stephen. He's a professional I don't think it was a personal attack I think she just sucks and allot of well known writers think so too (I hope)

  • Stephenie Meyer is horrible, twilight is horrible crappy trash that's boring and makes no sense, S.K. is amazing, one of the greatest writers of all time, such books as It, The Stand, Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Dead Zone, etc.

  • Their is no showdown.

Fucking twilight. Fuck that trash. I wouldn't wipe my asshole with the paper that shit is written on.

  • @mfourparttwo LOl yeah

  • gerk?

  • Twilight is not good literature. It was just well marketed. Stephen King is correct, and anyone who thinks Stephanie Meher is a great writer is not very knowledgeable.

  • King PWNS Meyer. End of story. His characters aren't 2 dimensional, like meyers. They have depth, FEELINGS and background unlike meyers' flat and dull romance about two angst ridden teens who are in lust with each other.

  • how come somebody compare one of the world's greatest writer of our time (stephen kings) to someone who is the worse writer of our time (stephanie meyer)...

stephen kings had lots of his book made in the movies while stephanie meyers has her books went into movie because of some school girls and the overgrowing gays...

the sparkling vampire is stupid, what kind of a vampire would sparkle in the sun like some drag-queen..

twilight werewolves are mole like some stupid "care bears"..

  • Meyer writting style sucks... big time!

as for the twillight series... i guess it's ok for a 12 years old girl.

and to anyone who thinks king is jaleous, please, please think twice before saying horseshit.

  • Twilight fans go crazy over the smallest things. they need to learn that Twilight is not the best thing in the world. I personaly think its shit. i havnt seen or read carrie but i want to. ive read Misery and im in the middle of reading Cell. ive watched Children of the Corn, Misery, IT, and another one i think but i forgot what it was called

Ive also seen Stand By Me wich isnt a Stephen King movie but it was based after his short story The Body

  • @yaoianimefan18 I recommend Rose Madder too. I LOVED that book. I think its one of his most underrated stories (my favorite). At least the female protaganist in the book developes and has actual f***ed up problems unlike Bella who really has no true conflicts other than wanting a vamp boyfriend. Carrie is also extrmely good. Lately I've fell out of love with his books but I always find things to read. Jame P., Erin Hunter, Richard Adams, Darren Shan, ect.

  • @Pooky1991 alright when i find it ill try it out. my library never has the books. well at least there always checked out. And they dont have all of them.

.....Oh i just remembered the movie i forgot. Secret Window (Based after the short story Secret Window Secret Garden) and Pet Cemetery i forgot two. Oh yeah and most recently Graveyard Shift.

  • Blade would win ;D

  • Oh and Carrie would whoop Bella's ass. She wouldn't even have to touch her. Unless Bella got the drop on her somehow...

  • "Gerk?" lol

  • I want J.K. Rowling to come and join Stephen so they can both just whoop ass on Stephenie.

    Twilight = FAIL

  • YES. DOUBLE TEAM HER. X3

  • @mercy35687 Also Gabriel Garcia Marquez

  • @mercy35687 that would be epic

  • @mercy35687

    stephen king is friends

    with j.k. rowling

    :D

  • It's cute how these kids talk about SKing being "jealous" of SMeyer's success. Really? He's sold over 300 mill. books, and many of his books have been made into great movies. The cute thing is, is that these Twifans probably don't even realize a lot of the movies they've watched and probably enjoyed have been SKing. He has praised J.K. Rowling, who is very successful. He's jealous of SMeyer, but not J.K.? That doesn't really make any sense. Hey kids, can we say, "DUHHHH!"

  • agreed but atleast he deserves the fame like come on i like love books and i know what a good book is...well u dont need to be smart to know =P anyway shes really not a good writer so um whatever u can tell stephenies fans arent excactly the "smartest" people on the planet lmao....jerk with a g ! =) love sk

  • Jerk with a "g"? How about "ultimate" as "ultamite"? Oops. :P

People who think Stephen King is jealous are idiots. Are you kidding me? King's incredibly pompous and like him or hate him, he knows what he's talking about. Meyer's had great success and good for her, but her writing sucks. Sorry. That's my opinion, but it's hackneyed crap. That being said, I don't have King's credibility to diss her, so she should be proud of her success.

  • that's something i keep doing DX i know how to spell I SWEAR. it's just one of those things that i got used to spelling it that way and i have to keep correcting myself.

don't apologize. meyer doesn't deserve pity. she's a hack writer and a complete nut.

  • @ppartin Hi im 12 and i really like sthephen king's books and stories (especially the story "Trucks" and the movie "Maximum overdrive" (i like Maximum overdrive cause AC/DC too :D ) and i really want to see him whit bunch of truck and the steam roller (who actually runned over a kid ) and christine of course! Smash the shit out of the whole Twatlight (or something) it will de awsome :D

sorry for my english im bulgarian :D

  • best comment on this subject ever.

  • The funny things is that people keep forgetting that someone asked for his opinion. >.>

  • doesnt it seem like isabella swan sounds like Elizabeth Swann from Pirates.

  • Stephen King pwns any writer of today's world

  • Carrie would pwn bella!!!!!!! With her telekinesis!

  • whose that on the left during the first 10-20 second of the video? i mean i know its carrie but where is she from?

so yeah, look i dont have a problem with stephenie meyer but i didnt like kirsten stewert in Twilight cause she really did a bad job at acting as bella.

Reply to me if you want an explanation. If you dont then i'll assume you know why

  • the picture is from the movie. the original not the abysmal remake XD

i don't like kstew period. she's not a good actress. her "acting" is exactly how she is in real life... which is awkward and queer (in the original sense of the word).

  • carrie is from the film adaptation of Stephen King's first novel "Carrie"

  • From what I can tell, calling yourself a twilight fan is the 'it' thing atm and that is why many raging fans are doing so. Very informative vid too

  • Stephen King is just great and I love that he expressed his opinion (which i agree with)

  • I haven't really read anything by Stephen King, but I fell in love with the Shining the second I saw the "here's Johnny" scene. I wanna read the shining and rage once I finish the Vampire Chroncles and Dracula.

  • Yeah the "here's Johnny" scene isn't in the book. A lot of things aren't in the book.

    Aren't I the worst?

    XD

  • Bella needs to spend a night in the Overlook. lmao

  • you sound kind of out of it in the video lol but anyway i doubt stephen king is jealous, he was just stating his oppinion. i agree with it, i just can't get into twilight. it's directed towards teenage girls. maybe she can write better, maybe she can't. who knows?

you should read the dark tower series, it's much better than twilight in my oppinion. just give it a try, it has an amazing story

  • This video is so stupid.

  • Sorry to hear you think that. :(

Would you care to explain why you think that?

  • ZOMG sparkly pedophile vampires! So "SCARY"

  • If you want to read a book from him that wont scare you, read The Green Mile, it's not scary, and is just amazing... If you want, watch the movie first so that you can see what it's about.

  • also, the dark tower!!!!!!!!

    best books ever IMO

  • Stephen King FTW

  • atleast in Stephen King's boks arent any Mary Sue-es He Rules And stephanie meyer bites the dust

  • STEPHEN KING WINS. THE END!

  • Lets face it, Stephen king has everything for full length novels to novellas turned into movies, well I havn't heard of Meyers until this Twilight junk became so popular

  • Also, Stephen would win in a fight. He would simple summon the beasts from The Mist and step over the rapist vampire-type things

  • I'm sorry, Twilight fans, but Meyer has nothing on the master of horror. King is a critic, just like all of us; he has a right to speak his mind.

  • There will only ever be one master of horror and that's the extremely talented Stephen King.

  • I LOVED Carrie. It's my favorite horror novel of the moment. Probably will be for a long time. I haven't read Twilight and neither do I plan to but I don't have an opinion since I haven't read it. I think that Stephen King shouldn't get bashed on for giving an opinion about authors. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Authors shouldn't be sensitive to criticism. It's one of the worst things you can do as an author.

  • I couldn't agree more. You have to be ready for critics at any time in almost every position you go into. Sensitivity is okay, but you have to be thick skinned and ready to listen to people who disagree with you.

Steering clear of twilight might be a good idea. XD

  • King is way better than the crap Smeyer writes

  • boo!

  • to me or someone else? please be more clear :D

  • Love him or hate him, one cannot deny Kings overwhelming credentials. There simply is no more important person in horror literature in the past 40 years than Stephen King. His books have sold over 300 million copies. King has won 6 Stoker awards, 6 Horror Guild awards, 5 Locus Awards, 3 World Fantasy Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004). He was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 by the Horror Writers' Association.

  • Soo true!!

  • Twilight isn't literature, it's corporate garbage. The modern teenagers seem to love being manipulated by corporations...

  • Hey, why not? If we didn't love it., then we wouldn't be buying super-low-quality crap sold for cheap that's been marketed to perform at an extremely high level!

  • The media really affects most teen's decisions on nearly every matter.

  • Carrie = classic studied in College Literature.

Twilight = little girl Vampire fantasy written by a noob writer who got lucky can't even remotely compare to Stephen King.

  • bella has no chance with out thoses cullen

  • Carrie. hands down.

  • Carrie would win, hands down. :D

  • carrie would f up bella LOL

  • carrie would have cut the cullens and shapeshitters head off.

  • Hey, Sweetie. I'm a Stephen King fan all the way and your views are the most mature I've heard so far. Way to go!. You're awesome.

  • Thanks so much! yeah and i know the pictures are bad... they weren't supposed to be good... just funny XD

  • WOW,that super imposing of Stephen's head is bad, but I'd love to be in his spot

  • Carrie is a fair fight for Vamp Bella HA, the whole fucking Cullen family couldn't beat Carrie

  • Roland Deschain forever!!!!!

  • I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS, BUT WOO!

  • character from the dark tower but W00T!!

  • roland kicks some everloving anus! i LOVED the Gunslinger! my FAVORITE book EVER!

  • I know right? Greatest books along with LotR!

  • I LOVED Shawshank redemption!!!

  • I don't like meyer she turns vampires in to mush!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • covent person i agree fully..she puts shame to all vampires..

  • Stephen King is awesome! I'm not really a hardcore fan, since I've only read, like, two of his books, but he is a good author. Meyer is just evil. She knows what her fanboys do, I know she does, but she just won't speak up. If she did, I might have a little respect for her.

  • go steven king!!!! C:

  • I ADMIRE AND LOVE HIM TOO

  • You should read "The TommyKnockers" and "Pet Semetary", and maybe "IT". That would help you get a taste of Stephen King.

  • i haven't heard of anything. she's too cowardly to accept criticism... i know that much. so probably her brother kept this from her or she tried to ignore it.

  • I bow down to you Girl! Stephen King kicks ass! His stories, are so scary, that i am sometimes afraid to turn out the lights after watching one of his movies. Stephanie holds no candle to this man, so Stephanie, just give it up, and btw! Twilight lovers! HE WAS ASKED WHAT HE THOT ABOUT IT! HE ANSWERED TRUTHFULLY!

  • Meyer's got to grow some thicker skin than that if she's going to be writing as a career. She even refused to take Writer's Craft because she said she was afraid of criticism. A REAL writer would be able to take criticism and not cry about it.

I think King's words were perfectly justified because it's true: she can't write and when it comes from Stephen King you know it can't be good because he knows what he's talking about.

  • Really? She said she wouldn't take it because of criticism? *sigh*

I already knew she didn't like criticism since her brother takes all her emails for her... but COME ON.

She's not a writer. She's just a person who puts words together.

  • If you're freaked out easily, try and stay away from Pet Semetary and IT for a little while...those are the ones the really got to me. Try The Stand...probably his best old work (personally, the Gunslinger series, Duma Key, and Lisey's Story are terrific, but they're a little differant style from his old stuff). The Stand is massive, by the way, so you'll need some stamina for it, lol :P

And Meyer is a lazy, unimaginative writer, and King ROCKS MY SOCKS

  • There isn't. It doesn't matter how or what anyone says, it sends them into rabid defense mode.

I'm glad that SK said anything at all, that he wasn't afraid to say what he thinks. The fans get so upset when there are people who don't care for SM or her books. Like they're afraid of the reality or something. It just amazes me how defensive and angry they get about it all.

  • I personally love the whole 'he's just jealous and intimidated by SM' defense. Really? SK jealous of SM. I seriously doubt that. And I love how that excuse is the only thing the rabids and die hards can come up with.....ever. When fans didn't like BD, the accusation was that they were jealous because they can't write great books themselves like SM.

  • they're also saying that he said it in a rude way.

but what way is there to say that SM can't write without getting rabid fangirls on your tail?

  • I like James Patterson too, I guess King is a person, and all authors will say stuff about eachother \I guess.

  • I can't believe SM said that about melisa mar ....that stupid bitch. So glad King owned her!

  • wait hold up WHAT?

    LINK PLZ???

  • who's james patterson? That was funny, if you meant Robert pattinson. I don't know anybody that doesn't know his name. But I get your oppinnion.

  • james patterson is the author of the Maximum Ride series. check it out if you've got the time. I'm hooked personally!

  • LOL stephen king is a true author. Way to go Stephen!

  • I don't get why everyone is so stuck on this one comment he made. I like Twilight, I love Twilight - but Stephen King is my favourite author. And just because King said this, it doesn't mean I'll abandon either one of them! It's like everyone think you can't like them both because they've said something negative about the other. I don't get it.

  • Comment removed

  • but the thing i really wonder is, what is meyer had made comments about an author like this? the fangirls would be jumping in agreement with her... wouldn't they?

  • thats a good point, but as far as i no, MS. Meyer hasn't been dissin people, but ur totaly right

  • acctually she has

she commented on wicked lovely by melisa mar saying the only thing good about that book was its covers.... that was way worse that wat stephen king said about her becouse he only said she cant write...stepanie meyers said EVERYTHING about the book was bad....the writing, plot, characters ect.

  • No, she has been dissing Shakespeare and Jane Austen, just to name some. *facepalm*

  • its not just adult because of the macabre. It's because the writing is intelligent and his characters feel real... even the freaky 1s. The story Secret Window (not the movie) helped me get through a bad breakup. I would point at sentences he'd written and say "get out of my BRAIN!" LOL I cant critique Meyer b/c i haven't read her books, but i'm sure King has and he'll always straight talk about his likes and dislikes, no agenda involved.

  • yeah, i really need to read more king XD

    too easily spooked.

he is fantastic but he should know to control his words cause he's gonna have angry fangirls at his door...

  • true that. I recommend Firestarter, still haven't finished it but it's awesome so far. I got to a point in the story where the good guys are safe and don't wanna keep reading because i know they'll get in trouble if i do LOL

  • I recommend "The Green Mile" ^^ and "IT", even if that's one of the scariest ones, but it's also one of the deepest and the best books that he's written. And I can also tell you to read his "The dark Tower"-series. haven't read the last book yet, but soon!

And oh. Gotta mention "On Writing" that he's also witten, it's like my personal bible.

I can go on forever about Stephen King.

  • Stephen King doesn't like Twilight, the book is for teenagers and he is old. I think both of them are great authors. Stephen King is excellent at writing terrifying and macabre stories. Stephenie Meyer is great at writing love stories.

I know Stephen King was just voicing his opinion but that was rude, sometimes you got to keep your opinions to yourself so you wont offend anybody even if it is your opinion you got to keep in mind that you might terribly offend somebody.

  • my point really is not that it WASN'T rude. it's that people are noticing more the awfulness of the statement due to the fact that they're both well known authors.

  • Stephen pwns SMeyer.

  • *high fives*

  • ahh, well... he is an ADULT writer for a reason. i mean, he writes some pretty messed up crap.

now i guess smeyer is enjoyable for a young teen. it's romantic and (even though questionable) enjoyable. just as long as the reader doesn't obsess or base their life off it i'm fine.
