I wish people would open their eyes and realize that any guitar can play any type of music, period! You can play jazz fusion on a Gibson Les Paul or Black Metal on a stock Fender Tele. As long as it has pickups and strings, the sky is the limit. It just eats me up when I hear "Black Label is not suited for PRS". Come on. Zakk could use a pink Hello Kitty with sparkels on it and still jam his ass off.

I have two boys that believe the hype, that only certain kinds of guitars can play certain kinds of music. In order to play Avenged Seven Fold, you just have to have the Schecter Synyster Gates signiture guitar ($1000). They don't beleive you can play the same thing with a Fender Strat. I guess the "look" is the most important thing to them. When I play a A7X track with my Squire Tele, they are amazed! They will learn...

@HEADBANGBALLER Good man, that´s the way it should be done. However the quality of your guitar needs to be one of your priorities (way before the FX and amplifier). The sound of a Squier is not going to be the same as one Fender which I´d love to have because they have a thicker sound than Gibson but the look is not necesary in order to play, for instance, Hendrix had a strato, and the way he sounded was AMAZING, he didn´t need like a "custom" model or something he just plugged that damn thing!

@dabc587 You are 100% right my new friend. I realize that certain guitars have many different tonal ranges. Like you said, a Gibson will give you a thicker, fatter sound. A Strat a bright, clear sound. I guess what I really was getting at was the visual stigma and streotypes. I saw Dave Navorro playing a pink Hello Kitty guitar that his girlfriend Carmen Electra gave to him. It was a Strat, but he rocked the house! Good post!

Many of the comments I have read are quite baffling. PRS guitars not metal enough for Black Label? Come on man, get real. Nick was right when he states "metal is in your hands". I have seen black metal bands use First Act guitars and I have seen Pop rock bands using BC Rich Warlocks. Does not matter. Your head, hands and heart determine what comes out of the amp, and that's a fact. Rock on Brothers and Sisters of the Faith!

the 85b and 60a n are awesome with an 18 volt setup. I'm not real into the 81's as they were designed to have a pretty linear and falt consistent response for hi gain solos. the aforementioned combo can do anything decentlly imo. Yeah my picking hand is what i have to work on CONSTANTLY. My fret hands pretty good though.

@jjmassey2906 A "10 top" means a very, very high quality type flame top. Similar to Gibson's AAA or AAAAA flamed maple tops, PRS calls theirs a "10 top".

Actually his signature guitar does not have a FR on it, look at the PRS site. Also, there is a recent interview with Paul Reed Smith himself in which he says he is more than excited to have nick on the list of endorsers since now they can use EMG's on their guitars.

I think actives work best with hardtails, they tend to pick up string movement and extra vibrations a lot more than passives when in a guitar with a vibrato

Its wat PRS does when EVERYTHING on their guitar is top quality, the wood is perfect ect. Its basiclly just a way saying the guitar is as perfect as it gets.

Sry i'm not great at explaining things but if that helps thats what it meens. you should go to PRS's webside and check it out, its actually real cool

A 10 Top is a grade that PRS uses for grading how even a piece of top wood is. Other grades are Artist grade, killer quilts.
