I had to watch the full movie in my 7th grade class (and follow along with the books.), but broke out into laughter at this scene... (Me as well as the rest of the class...) Does anyone else think it sounds like they're saying "kool-aid for the baboon's blood!" @ 1:22-1:25?
@Omega3010 To be fair, Hecate wasn't even supposed to be in the original play [[theories that either a Victorian wrote that bit or if Shakespeare wrote it, he didn't write the rest of the play]] so I quite like seeing it without the additional bits that weren't in the original
omggggg this is sooooo creepy!!!! i watched it in chorus class because we r pro forming this 4 our concert and i was like screaming and hugging the guru next to me the hole time!! My friend just like ran out of the room
AHAHA im doing this play at my school and im witch number 2(nurse/weird sister) and im not doing this scene like this lol ... im not humping some dead body 0:42 - 0:44
This is a fantastic interpretation, I wish the whole thing was online. This is the first time I am seeing Patrick Stewart perform Shakespeare, he is awesome!
@GetWiseDontTellLies Is clarity so much to ask for? So much of the words are lost for the sake of style! Sadly, this scene smacks of form over substance to me, but it could have been so good!
@NazTb0y Yes, because the style is NOT the most important thing in this segment at all. *sarcasm*. Sweetheart, I'm all FOR substance over style - but only when it is merited. This particular passage with the incantation had no other purpose than to frighten and create atmosphere. And in this clip, that's exactly what it does, but more by means of video and montage. So get over yourself, you snob.
@Irreligiously When it comes to Shakespearean theater, there are those who like Shakespeare the poet, and those that like Shakespearean adaptations. I fall into the first category, though I love modern adaptations when available. This scene destroys the poetry. Atmosphere is created through everything but the poetry. It just sounds like mumbling to me. Enunciation and clarity are so important with Shakespeare, b/c the poetry is the soul of his plays, not all the fancy stuff you dress it up in.
Amazing.
