ive been in the cab of 90024 at doncaster whilst it was on the sleeper and they are totaly awesome the driving drove a deltic a few days before aswell, this was whilst i was waiting for 47851 and 47854 to come in to doncaster on the charter to bognor regis :P

Thanks! Virgin's 57/3's operate a M-F Chirk-Carlisle-Chirk log train. I don't know how long the contract has left though.

At least the 57/3's are reliable, and generally free during the week!

Not all, Stefan. Many are named for corporate reasons, others named after railwaymen, and some hark back to the days when a name meant something (Geographical names, Regimental names, Racehorses etc..)

As the Class 57/3's are used as rescue locomotives, it was decided to name them after characters from the Thunderbirds show (International Rescue!)
