Well...I hate Coldplay and love Radiohead, but I must say that if you were an actual musician, you would know that those chord changes are extraordinarily common...or at least in rock. The only other pattern more common is 251.
Agreed. My ipod has all of Radiohead's albums plus a few b-sides and only the aforementioned albums from Coldplay. Everything Coldplay has done "post-paltrow" is shit and I stopped listening after it started sounding like Radiohead if Radiohead fell down a flight of stairs and was now retarded.

Very rarely, if ever, does an artist set out to rip off a chord progression from another; it's all musical coincidence that comes about from a limited number of different things one can do with the 11 notes we have.
But if you wish to look at it this way, go listen to Coldplay's "Amsterdam" as well, specifically the breakdown before "Stuck on the end of this ball and chain;" it sounds a bit similar to YAWA as well. In my opinion, all three songs are great.. though, I think I like YAWA the best.

I love how no one can be inspired by anyone anymore. Apparently its now called copying. I LOVE both of these bands. I know that both artists are geniuses in their own right. If one song sounds remotely similar to another band's song then who gives a shit? A song is an idea. Who says more than one person can't have the same idea? Any musician should understand this. If they don't then there's something wrong with them.

Yes, it is pretty obvious how similar these two songs are. It is the 2nd part of the Yes segment that's suspicious, because the first could've been mere coincidence.

Coldplay and Radiohead are good for different reasons to different people with different tastes for different sounds. I love both bands alot, but I've been with Radiohead longer, and therefore that's one of my opinions. We can't all like one or the other, that's fine, but take it easy on one another. They're both very talented and creative bands.

Well...I hate Coldplay and love Radiohead, but I must say that if you were an actual musician, you would know that those chord changes are extraordinarily common...or at least in rock. The only other pattern more common is 251.

Agreed. My ipod has all of Radiohead's albums plus a few b-sides and only the aforementioned albums from Coldplay. Everything Coldplay has done "post-paltrow" is shit and I stopped listening after it started sounding like Radiohead if Radiohead fell down a flight of stairs and was now retarded.

I love both bands. Radiohead is obviously much more talented and creative. I don't like comparing bands though, especially when comparing a band to (in my opinion) the greatest band in the world.
Yes, Coldplay is inspired by Radiohead, but they too have evolved into a different sound. If you listen to both bands latest albums, they sound nothing alike.

Very rarely, if ever, does an artist set out to rip off a chord progression from another; it's all musical coincidence that comes about from a limited number of different things one can do with the 11 notes we have.
But if you wish to look at it this way, go listen to Coldplay's "Amsterdam" as well, specifically the breakdown before "Stuck on the end of this ball and chain;" it sounds a bit similar to YAWA as well. In my opinion, all three songs are great.. though, I think I like YAWA the best.
