Amen, we are building permanent bases there now. Think about it we have bases all over the world already. Why should the middle east be any different?

The Kurds already basically have their own state. They have already secured their corner of Iraq. Its time to create two more states under a loose federal umbrella. Hell, we're already building walls, so we've chosen that course anyway. 18 more months with President Quixote.

Biden and McCain are the only two candidates with any real policy or leadership on Iraq. Period. The rest are waiting to see what will get them elected first.

In the 1980's and 1990's, as the Germans proliferated nuclear technology and tritium technology to Pakistan, there was technology transfer. Today we need to draw back in Iraq, and beready for the real threat from Pakistan. The most radical elements of Islam are in that population, along with terrorists and there is only one leader between those nuclear weapons and radical Islam.

I'm not going to throw my hands up and say this'll boil over into a regional war, but one also has to look at the Senator's plan as one small centerpiece. A lot more has to go on w/diplomacy, staffing regional military bases, and international aid of different kinds. Even then Iraq will still be a mess, but Biden's plan + internationalization will make things more containable.
