  • @responseability MHZ CREW!!!!!

  • @responseability I believe mostly because all production studio's switched to digital techniques.

  • The last verse of this song is the most thought provoking, lyrically poignant bar I've ever heard. As you know, the last verse of any song is often the hardest to come up with. It's similar to a conclusion to a great college term paper. Priceless!!

  • Those "subliminal messages" aint so subliminal at all.

  • Grand Puba - Amazing have the same sample, but i prefer this..

  • Peep. IN 1997 i was like the OC #1 fan in my High School-August Martin. It was the release of Jewlz summer... I had football practice 2days-HOT AUGUST Summer... I stayed up late to write OC a letter. i wrote OC like a 3 page letter. Next day..I cut the start of the 2nd session of practice to ride my bicycle to Jamaica Ave to Give O my letter and to get my copy of Jewelz Signed. O never wrote me back! none the less when i got to practice late, i had to do a circuit- BY MYSELF. I love me some OC!

  • @thenewyorker34 , LoL cool story man LoL, yeah OC is 1 of my fav mcs word life & jewlez are in my top 10 hip hop albums I stay listening to jewelz especially in the summer time I was bumping my world & MUG on them sunny days out my car!

  • "He's no average M.C., with a smile on his face"! I bought this album when it came out in '97. It definitely is a "Jewel".

  • mannnnnnn...cold shit, classic fire, and this cats lyrics and flow ALWAYS on point. Period. "Every form of power respect my stats.......retard your whole brigade, cave in your brainwaves...." Shiiiiidddd, ya understand? Hip hop. RIGHT HEEEERRRRE. This could rock in TODAY'S scene if re-released.

  • mannn i aint heard this since 97

  • ce morceau il tue c'est de la balle oc est un bon funk et rap en meme temp kader le clos 93240 stains mostaganem dz est ouai on est toujour la

  • OC........ In the best rap group of all time... DITC. Diggin in the Crates. If Big L didnt die they would have concurred all. Stripped one of their starting 5 at their prime. Shame stupid people kill over stupid things.

  • i was in high school when dis came out i used to take my tape recorder put it to my tv and recorded it da gud ol days. jus downloaded it on my evo for free

  • man dis was so hot jjus downloaded on my evo for free. Real hip hop

  • Wow, I remember coming home from school and watching rap city just to see this video. hip hop @ its best

  • OC was interviewed in the book 'HOW TO RAP: The Art & Science of the Hip-Hop MC' - really great read if you're interested in how real MCs put their lyrics together and come up with complex flows

  • @gerryg1982 lol @ white people reading books on how to rap.

  • @gerryg1982 your everywhere man. The best advertiser on youtube.... Props for that haha!!!

  • I love this song. I used to play the crap out of this joint in the late 90's.

  • @MrKevin619ism HAHA! Me too man, and "My world"..remember this was

a single with "My world" on it too?! Man, these days aint never coming back.

    Peace.

  • @Daybreakhasme Yeah man, "Far From Yours and" My World" was from the album "Jewelz" in 1997. That whole album was hype. I agree with you. The days of good hip hop music are gone.

  • " I was assigned to Earth, on a mission to spread worldwide my glorious compositions" ... this fucks other rappers` whole careers!

    lyrical monster! classic!

  • YEEEAAAAH CLASSIC SHIT RIGHT HERE WHAT ever happened to this guy?

  • Listen to the track "The Crow" and then come back and tell me O.C. ain't one of the best lyricist.

  • Him and Big L was really slept on.

  • chill track, O.C. s a great MC

    peace

  • this is true golden era of hip hop folks we need to get back to this

  • L. Ron Hubbard? Why would he want to even refer to that retard! hahaha

  • seriously this is one for the ages - timeless - could EASILY bang right now.

  • @neehiii i couldn't agree with you more, more bangers:

das efx - real hip hop, az - sugar hill, mic geronimo - masta ic, black moon - how many emcees, channel live ft krs - mad izm, redman - time 4 sum aksion, big l - mvp, show & ag - soul clap, raekwon - ice cream, odb - brooklyn zoo, beatnuts - off the books, smif n wessun - stand strong, mad skillz - the nod factor, jeru - 99.9%, mop - ante up, mobb deep - survival of the fittest, group home - livin proof

  • One of the most unrated MC of all time.

  • @elvgero15 it's a good thing people slept on oc, keeps the music legit...so many good rappers get corrupted when they reach mainstream, oc is just too real for that shit

  • @chicagocumpa Agreed.

  • nice

  • that's the shit

  • Peace. Alot of you "so-called rappers" need to take notes. O.C. is one of the best to ever do it! P.E.A.C.E.

  • anybody eles notice all the illuminati symbols in the video? listen to what he saying,el ron hubbard, choosen one, sublimenal message etc. i neva noticed it when it 1st came out since i was like 14 but now its like dang.....

  • What you think son OC eyes, I mean his 3rd eye was wide opened.. thats how MC's were back in the day always dropping JEWELS on wax.

  • why dont they play this on the radio?

  • This album was classic

  • I love BoomBap90 this man got hits, you feel me!

  • i agree man-one of the hottest '97 singles-JEWELZ hot '97 album- a great year for hip hop-Jay Z, Biggie and EPMD dropped albums-'90s rap > 2000s rap-"golden age" '92-'98 in my opinion-Master P (No Limit) and CASH MONEY had similar effects on the game-"and even caucasians"-you know it

  • @moreex2

I agree some good stuff during that time, but the golden age was 1988 son, everyone knows that. Then along came 94' which brought NY back into the scene, then the indie scene from 96-2000 was dope!

  • Yo this was the shit son, I remember being in college at the time listening to mad underground shit. Wow the 90's was the best. look at us now, mainstream took it over since 1999 damn!!!!!!!! Ol let me not forget master p started the wack shit B

  • Real Hip-Hop.....I can respect that these new cats are on thier hustle but it's just no comparison to music prior to 2000!

  • I will never forget when my friend got married in the Virgin Islands in the summer of 2004. OC's "Jewelz" was the record of choice for me at that time. Nothing like drinking Red Stripe on the beach with some good beats!!!!

  • Golden era!! Im feel blessed growing up on this!

  • this dude was tight very underrated rapper this album is tight wonder what is he doing now

  • hottest instrumental everrrr

  • dope beat. and she sounds good on it too

  • Virtually every line OC spits could be used on a dope hook.

  • @TheAkashdeepJabandar Thats correct!

  • @TheAkashdeepJabandar

Yup, OC is one of those truly gifted lyricists. Every line paints a picture, if you really listen.

  • man this used to be my joint. oc was tight.

  • Roc Raida on the cuts. Rest in peace..

  • a group called Tha rayne - Love bug used this music the song was hot

  • Don't forget about Main Source, Large Professor, Ed O.G. & Da Bulldogs, 3X Dope, Stetsasonic, De La Sol, Jungle Brothers, 3rd Bass, Leaders of The New School were just a few great groups to produce proven MC's!!!

  • DAMN! I've been looking for this joint forever 5/5.

  • what happened to the classic new york 5 percenter songs? illuminati?

  • @spaceage614 They are all made by Jay-Z, XD!

  • @spaceage614 The illuminati and the nation of gods and earths philosphy is not that different. The only difference like you said is that all those 5 percenter rappers knew how to make real and good music. I really don't even bother to check out those new songs anymore. Hip Hop from the 90's is really all I need.

  • @spaceage614 It was hushed and quieted and bling bling hoes and cocaine became the standard. The best hip hop I ever heard in my life came from East Coast 5 percenters. I was raised and nourished properly on it. All of us watching this video were and thats why we here on youtube seeking out those 5 percenters songs most people never heard of 13 years later.

  • One of Yvette Michelle's last good songs!

  • man this that shit that makes me wish i didnt get older

  • I only recently heard of O.C with burn me slow... He's got some good beats

  • classic O.C. every album he drop was dope!..got'damn man!..i got that 90's feeling again..kinna got the chills right now..

  • i love vocal this girl ! classsic ! piona PL

  • mf doom used this sample also?

  • I wanna cry when I hear dis man. Dang man what happened to hip hop man?? You HAD to be lyrically fit to even get into the game far from where it is today. Dang man!! I was 14 when dis came out lol man. I remember Yvette was funk master flex's artist but nothing really happened with that though

  • @AFanOfMusic0101 lyrically fit bangers: big l - now or never das efx - real hip hop show & ag - next level remix ras kass - soul on ice remix oc - time's up krs-one - step into a world beatnits ft big pun - off the books mic geronimo - masta ic mad skillz - the nod factor black moon - how many emcees i prefer to vomit rather than cry when i hear today's music
  • Yeah Sun.. these youngins don't know what a real MC is.. you forgot Rahkim., mos def, the whole boot camp click. Black moon was so ill.. forgot about them. thay had this one song dedicated to Big L. that joint rock.. I think it's callin missing you.

  • thanks man its by ditc and its called tribute and it features oc, ag, and lord finesse. also gang starr had a song called full clip and at the beginning they shout out big L rest in peace

  • Thanks homie.. I need that track on my playlist.. OMG Gang Starr. dude had one of the best flows in the 90's. dude was so underrated.

  • other underrated emcees of the 90s:

    keith murray

    az

    cormega

    oc

    ag (of ditc)

    ras kass

    redman

    buckshot (of black moon)

    pharoahe monch

  • Oh shit.. Pharoahe monch was dope.. Get the fuck out was the joint,, and that beat.. da da da dant !! and my nig RZA. the Wu had some nice Mc's so many different styles.. Eric Sherman of EPMD. Crossover is classic, Gold digga !! Redman before he hooked up with Meth indeed. and vice versa. De la soul. Poor righteous teachers. I can't think of to many West coast MC's from the 90's They were more on Gangsta rap. but they had some dope underground to. C-bo, brotha lynch, cellycell,e40, spice1, quik

  • Eric Sermon AKA the green eye bandit

  • love the Rakim sample

  • This song should be retitled "The blueprint for hip hop and R&b collabo" DITC - OC along with Big L, Lord Finesse, Show & AG some of the best to ever clutch a mic

  • was this video directed in DR or haiti or somewhere in the carribean, its banging crazy dope!

  • It says Soufriere, but there are several Soufrieres, all in the Caribbean; I don´t know which one.

  • maan to me hip hop peaked in 90s it will never return to its old glolry.. i feel hip hop is like a living being right now its a baby boomer ready to collect social security...oc one of the greatt's

  • Hip Hop can return back 2 it's old time of glory. Music is like wine. It gets bettter with time. But, there are people in charge of distribution and these corporate offices that just want to stick with gimics instead of relying on talent. These young artists are only gonna be as good as the people in charge of them will allow them to be. Trust, if another label like a motown or deathrow were to surface where ALL the artistss on the label were talented? & they sold records? It would pose a threat

  • Even people who enjoy Soulja-boy would flock to a 2-Pac-like artist if one came out today. 2-Pac knew how he said it was as important as what he said. Most artists today do one or the other.

  • The old DITC crew was the shit. Fat Joe, Lord Finesse, Big L, Nine and so many more. Hip Hop was so dope. I miss you 1996.

  • nine?

  • He made the song "Whatchu Want" and ran with Big L. Look at that video and you'll see Big L in there a couple times.

  • i know who nine is , but he was never part of d.i.t.c

  • This OC lp was crazy.. Shit takes me back to high school, I was all into Wu and the rival crew at the school was into DITC, i finally really checked the God out, his shit was classic.........

  • Man, takin it back to Junior year in Highschool. The remix is so much better than the original cuz Yvette comes in at the end and sings her own little segment

  • i got put on to O.C. by my step pops. this joint is hot. im only 17 too

  • @debrai716

Cool..don't matter what age, enjoy the music

  • dam hip hop where have u gone?

  • Hip Hop is in a coma and Rap has taken over. Sad times.

  • @daresoner lost in time

  • I made my ex wife pissed bumpin this constantly!!!! Lawd, I miss this shyt!!!!!!

  • Yes this is it right here! I use to jam to this song loving it fuck that other shit that's out right now.

  • I miss u hip hop !!

  • Hip-Hop is still here if you live it won't die! Just keep supportin it. You can't bring back the past but hiphop is still alive thanx to hiero for the first indepent hip-hop label or atleast the frist big one.

  • lean wit it rock wit it??? this is hip hop boy, no pop rap bullshit

  • this shit helped me to buy a dirt bike hahah then it got re-po'd fuckin 06 man what a year

  • i finaly found dis song...i onli heard it once and been tryna find it eva since diz wat hip hop iz about not dis bullshit dey makin nowadayz

  • I love the 90s hiphop man. I was 10th grade when this shit came out. This shit takes me back to them days.

This was good bleed of R&B at that time and a mad lyrical cat from BK. Even R&B was better then.

No disrecsepct to SOME of the MCs that came here in the mid to late 2000s but ya need to step yall shit up and make better albums.

I am glad cats like Raekwon came back hard to show that REAL hiphop can still be a force to wreckin with and set a standard for the new school.

  • Buckwild and O.C together is magic like Dre with Snoop.

  • djblac, hip hop is the culture, rap is the music. I dont know what you are talkin about.

  • Bomb Track... HipHop meets R&B, the best mixture!

  • I bought Yvette Michelle's album. "All I really want is you" was my joint! LOL I also liked "D.J. keep playing", she had a video for that one. I remember it.

  • O.C. was part of that D.I.T.C. clique...which would have continued to be the shiznit had Big L not died...but thats waaaay back shit..kids nowadays don't know about all that..nor do they care..shame.

  • @WestmountEstates , D.I.T.C is still the shiznit!

  • @WestmountEstates Yeah. But that was the time when rappers where gettin' shot and killed over bullshit. Sadly but true. That kinda dug the stake in the heart of hip-hop. Kind of makes you miss the '90's. That when catching up the Source Magazine when it had real journalist and editors and I didn't have access to BET, Rap City, and the Box. Listening to this dope track get me depressed all over again that its over ten years since. At times, I wish I can relive the '90's

  • @WestmountEstates im 17 and i listen to some real ass shit bwoy

  • Nvm yall i got it, it is rakim

and its from 'To the listener' off the classic record follow the leader.
