    Grange hill

    Red dwarf

  • I'm still cursing the fact that my parents didn't have me a few years earlier. Used to hear so much about this programme, but couldn't watch it because it was usually on past my bedtime.

Only really had a chance to get into it during its final years.

  • i still have nightmares of these fuckin puppet things O_O

  • yeah they should bring this back, especially now when everyone could do with a laugh. it was great i remember it well.

  • We need it back!

  • Why won't they bring it back the material they would have mp expenses police shooting tax my good there's more material now than ever we need it I need it the world needs it missing you loads spitting image

  • I wish Spitting Image was still around!

  • KENNETH BAKER AS THE SLUG AT 6:38 HA HA!! BEST PUPPET EVER - VERY ACCURATE!!

  • Instead, an American company, Sid and Marty Krofft (makers of rather low, low budget children shows) did their own version called D.C. Follies, which was set in a bar (a pub) in Washington, D.C.. Awful puppets. Bad writing. It was just a big rip off of Spitting Image. However, from 1983 - 1986, there was a 30 minute late night show called Radio 1990, which aired in the U.S. on the USA Network. They would show clips from Spitting Image.

  • @kers80bhp, in the 1980's, Spitting Image had three television specials in the United States, which aired on NBC, and hosted by David Cook. It was fantastic! I was hoping that it would become a series over here, but it never happened.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm an American. I do not know who 98% of the people in the clip are, but I loved Spitting Image!

  • @Monkofmagnesia cool

  • BRING IT BACK!!!

  • I'm so fucked up i genuinely thought these were puppet cartoon characters when i was little?? it was honestly my favourite show. i could reel off the names of the entire tory cabinet when i was 5.

  • @makeacircuit Definatley!

Most people don't have the first clue about politics now. Back then, kids knew who was who.

I remember being able to do impressions of politicians when I was in primary school.

  • You'd never get shit like this in america.

  • @SuperBailey2009 Why gives a shit about America?

Yanks are completely irrelevant here in all the nations of the British isles.

  • good to see they used the real ant and dec. (Puppets made by ITV, never a more truthful screen cap)

  • I wish they never stopped that show, it was bloody great..!! not like some of the crap they put on the telly nowadays... BRING IT BACK..!

  • @MrNightblade they tried to bring it back, but nothing funny got past the censor's, so it flopped.

  • @w1n6ed83a5t . Got past the censor's what exactly? Eyes? Ears? Hat? Boot laces? Do you no what I meen?

  • U S AIR FORCEA

  • Achievement unlocked : Watch some creepy ass English puppet thing at 11:07PM.

  • greatest show i ever watched as a kid loved it

  • Good god Norman Tebbit is a horrid man! (in puppet form or in IRL!)

  • it would be fuckin grand to see spitting image remade in this time. I think TV will start needing something like this again, given the times we live in.

  • Comment removed

  • Man, this was the platform for my own political apathy. I don't think I missed an episode until HIGNFY started up.

  • pause at 2 seconds

  • "Must dash, I've got a window at 3" :D

  • I really want to see spitting image restarted! In light of recent events it would be fantastic television!

  • @MrZxantraxx Yes, it's The Smiths 'How Soon is Now' - You know, the one that goes 'I am the son & heir (or sun & air), with a shyness that is criminally vulgar'. Crap, now you made me have to go get my Morrissey fix...

  • @Yickbob Go get that fix. After all, you are only human and you want to be loved, just like anybody else does.

    DOH!

    Where's me flippin Smiths cd?

  • these dam puppets scared the shit out of me when i was a kid. i'm only watching this to face my fears

  • @kers80bhp Me too!!!

  • @beaverranchboy Hey, me too mate : I'm french and I couldn't get what they said so I was scared, particularly when they shouted !

  • @beaverranchboy spitting image not scary to me when i was a kid i kinda like this show because all of their faces looks gay like ronald reagen he likes to screw uk country and blowing up heaven and hell by using nukes that was so funny

  • @beaverranchboy Haha yeah there fuckin scary as shit.

  • LOLed at 5:59

  • thanks for that

  • wow this takes me back

  • Never heard of it.

  • Here you go idiots, have some trash

  • should bring this show back

  • I used to be so scared of those puppets(initially I only knew them from the Land of Confusion video), but now I'm older I absolutely love them! Why did they stop making this show? I think it can be a huge succes again!

  • @JenteBones I know! It's absolutely insane that they're not bringing it back, because if it could be so amazing with very few people at the time to ridicule, how would they manage with the increasingly stupid celebrities of today? A Spitting Image - Justin Beiber rip off, and I could die a happy woman! :)

  • kING ARTHUR SCARGILL AND HIS TRADE UNION DELEGATES OF THE ROUND TABLE

  • ADOLF AND THATCHER = DRAMATIC IRONY

  • I like Lord Hattersley's character!

  • @robr2004 what a top man Lord Hattersley is to smile and find his puppet funny while other so-called celebrities spat fire.

  • The single most disturbing memory of my childhood.

  • How can you dislike Spitting Image? Truly hysterically funny satire

  • i loved this. it was always on tolate for me to watch it as a kid. but sometimes my brother would tape it for me so i could watch it :o)

  • They killed portuguese Sitting Image after 18 years of its premier and 15 years continuosly running. In a moment the country is sinking into bankrupcy, censorship found its way back. Lets hope dictatorship does not return too.

  • Bring it back!!

  • The broccoli sketch was prophetic.

  • spitting image should be brought back, it has always been so hilarious. it always got the impressions bang on and the humour just cracks me up.

  • More peas dear lol

  • You know, i|I}f yousearching for}|wanting|in need of}| need| want} a good site to host your pictures, try w ww . freeimage house . com, that's what I go to|where I go to} all the time for my hosting. Nice video!

  • I loved this, they should bring it back

  • "you always really felt the queen mother acted like that" You would only do that if you were a complete fucking idiot.

  • This shit gave me nightmares, my dad thought it a good idea to have me watch it when i was a little kid..

  • scary

  • I'd love to see the likes of these people on a new version of spitting image if it ever comes out:

The government & all other political parties, the X factor judges (Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole etc), bbc newsreaders (Fiona Bruce, Huw Edwards etc), bbc weather (Tomasz Schafernaker, Daniel Corbett etc), Adrian Chiles & Christine Bleakley and lots of other celebrities but can't remember their name.

    Feel free to add more!

  • @TheMessiah79 Baroness Ashton, That Belgian bloke who's the EU President (forget his name) Nick Clegg, David Cameron, Sarah Palin, Russel Crowe, Cher Loyd, Katie Waissel, The Milliband Brothers, the French President Nikolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla, Wagner. There's my contribution i'm sure other folk have a few more.

  • bring it back

  • Roy Hattersley is a fucking legend!!! HAIRSPRAYYYYYYYYY!

  • More peas dear!!! Gosh they ripped the piss out of Major mercilessly!! I always liked little Michael Foot rooting through the bins and Kenneth Baker as a slug!

  • there is a french version called "les guignols de l'info "

  • And now, for something really important. Bring this show back.

  • Is anybody else creeped out by how much the Jeremy Paxman puppet looks like the real thing?

  • I think the zenith of this show was the 1987 election special. The "Tomorrow belongs to me" sketch was astounding - you can find it on YouTube. There is nothing in that sketch that could not be applied to present day. Shows how very little has changed.

  • why cant they bring this back gof the material they would have with current political stuff going if i was bill gates i would fund this. think they canned it as it was to politically CORRECT it really shows what idiots we have running the bloody country

  • PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!

  • Why the fuck do they have Ant n Dec in this......

  • Tebbit was a working-class Tory turd!

Too the bullies on...so what was that tosser then? A bully!

  • I love spitting image

  • id love to see spitting image to come back on to our screens, give political correctness a run for its money.

  • is it evn on anymore??

  • Brilliant. Could not wait till Sunday night to watch it. It is true that you knew all the politicians then. The programme did have a significant effect on on joe public and I reckon it would not be allowed in it's original political format (censored) as this is not a free country any more.

  • The Kenneth Baker slug was the best - I almost died laughing when I first saw it

  • I am an American, and I cannot thank you enough for placing this video up...I had forgotten the name of this show. It has been so many years since I have seen it last. I asked all friends about it, and they knew what I was talking about, but we all forgot the name. Spitting Image...thank you again!!! It should be brought back. It's ashame that it was cancelled in the first place...

  • RUBBISH ! This is just full of boring talking heads and bit of Spitting Image. We want Spitting Image you Moron! Now eff off...

  • @Filotimos lol then stop watching the special! its called the best ever spitting image because thats what the show was called when this guy was recording it!

  • fantastic thanks for posting

  • I'd like to see what Austin Mitchell would look like

  • SPITTING IMAGE 4EVER! shame most that watch now are clueless as to who theacts are and are portraying.. loved it then and love it still today!

  • Class. Bring on the modern Spitting Image!

  • If Spitting Image was around now I wish they did Obama, George W. Bush, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Nick Clegg, Kay Burley, Adam Boulton, Alaistair Campbell, and the most overrrated Cheryl Cole. This was the most funniest comedy shows taking a hilarious swipe at Politicians and famous personalities of the 80's I loved this show.

  • @Rukia212002 . lol yeah cheryl cole and ashley would be a great one! (also, can't help notice that you might be bengali? "rukia")

  • @foxhounduk2k8 Yes I am and thanks for your reply.

  • @Rukia212002 Thought so! I'm bengali too !

  • this is how robot chicken started

  • I used to be terrified of these puppets when I was a kid.

  • I say bring it to the USA !!!!

  • Two Tribes... What a perfect song!

  • look the detail at the marionets, its awesome

  • Loved the South African Song!

  • @jsarkar339 of it's time though

  • part of what i like about it, you would never get away with that today!

  • Paul daniels = EPIC

  • @sweiland75

Yankee who grew up in Canada. ;)

  • @sweiland75

How about Kids in the Hall, eh?

  • LOVE THE ANT AND DEC PUPPETS

  • one show i do miss please bbc bring it back truely awesome.

  • You know I used to watch this in the 80's. I've been looking all over for one sketch that stands out in my memory. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be here...

It involved the Stallone/Neilson divorce and the two of them arguing over the custody of Neilson's Breasts.

Anyone remember that? Anybody have a copy they can post?

  • i do remember it one of the funnest ever.

  • My favorite was with Leonard Nimoy auditioning for Hamlet where he kept breaking into Spockisms.... 'to be or not to be, that is illogical captain; to be or not to beam me up Scotty' etc etc!!

  • I'm pretty sure that's on one of these videos.

  • I Never knew hislop wrote this lol

  • Whats the song playing in the first few seconds? Its fantastic!

  • Bring back spitting image!

  • @htownmatt that will probably never happen cos the original makers of it were probably captured and disposed of by secret service

  • @htownmatt I agree but the cost of each show was just horrendous, the bbc budget, massive though it is would not sanction any more shows. They can pay weather girls, £100K, presenters and so called "managers" half a million quid, pay huge pensions, waste money moving to Manchester, pay a guy who lives in America and commutes to UK millions to oversee the move to Manchester but the BBC cannot put the money into good programs.

  • @pattayalob It was an ITV show

  • @judgedredd123 Sorry, you're quite right, I get a bit confused in my old age!!!

  • @pattayalob lol, welcome to my world

  • What Edwina Currie claims, demonstrates the decadence of british politics during the Thatcher era (and after probably). Hoping you appear in a show like spitting image is something for people with no sense of honour and dignity left. Their motto: just make an appearence no matter how ugly it may be.

  • @DrBPhD I suppose it is the old adage of any publicity is good publicity. Like the disgusting antics of these so called WAGs of famous footballers and film stars. The are just famous for being famous, morally corrupt low lifes.

  • @pattayalob You're probably right. But people who are elected to rule a country should have higher standards.

  • @DrBPhD For sure.

  • thx for uploading such awesome humour

  • yes one about Gordon Brown epic!!!! and alistair darwin and the expenses scandals that would be epic!

  • I defintely watched this show back in the day. Loved it.

  • Those puppets are like living caricatures...it must be weird to operate them

  • Not weird, but probably fiddly to operate as each puppet was controlled by two people; one person controlled one arm and the mouth and the other controlled the other arm.

  • And Steve Nallon doing the eye's.

  • British comedy is somewhat better than my american comedy now a days.

  • Comment removed

  • "now a days"? ... While TV shows like SNL made a major mark on American comedy, I still think British shows like The Benny Hill Show, Monty Python, and loads of other British comedy's have had a major influence. And that was ages ago.

  • @alecisatoon12 ATM I'd give it to the Yanks - Arrested Development, Weeds, Curb your Enthusiasm for example.

  • @alecisatoon12

Has been for ages, will be for ever.

  • This was the funniest political satire to ever have come along. British humor rocks. Great to be able to watch it again on Youtube.

  • Bring back Spitting Image!

  • agreed!

  • Lord Tebbit is a fucking legend!

I'm a penniless student and I get to enjoy delicious game dishes two or three times a week thanks to his brilliant cookbook released earlier this year!!!

  • 0.o w t f ?

  • Even as an American I enjoy this humor so much more than the shitty stuff we got now.

  • @DreadfulRay I bet you do,Americans are a pretty dum bunch so they spew out any shit.

  • @mistaben2k No u.

  • @DreadfulRay Haha well you can tell how fucked up our political system is!! lol

  • @DreadfulRay its because its "british humour"!

  • Good to have this back on youtube, but this will be deleted soon.... More of the boxers please

  • Tebbit is badass.

  • i shat my slef wen i was a little oy wen i sen this but is the best tv show everr!!

  • I remember when they showed bits of this over in the US. It was just creepy.

  • Its a very British form of Humour, understandable how a lot of Americans wouldn't get it. I think in the 80s it was unacceptable for the Reagan constituency to be openly criticized at all.

  • Oh it was acceptable to criticize reagan. I personally liked the lil bits of the show the aired in the US. I don't think Americans took to it because it was puppets and they probably thought it was for kid. But I was a kid and I definitely got it cause I read Mad Magazine and they always mess with everybody especially politicians that was honestly how I even knew about the Gary Hart Scandal. lol

  • bring it back

  • They really, really should!

  • ya, I remember being young and getting up in the middle of the night and it would be on TV, i could never go back to sleep, this show was really creepy

  • this lady is neigh for turnin like you know

  • this show scared the crap out of me when i was like... young...

  • me 2!

  • i watched this last night and i cant find the queens single on utube, plz give me a link to the actual song

  • *Why don't we have this now!*

In Australia we had "the rubbery figures" who, sadly, never had a show of their own but were a regular feature on a weekly comedy sketch show in the 90's. People have cried out for more ever since; they still go to *galleries* to see the puppets!

Maybe the bigwigs who own our media don't *like* regular people to be interested in politics and to know what's going on; sure as anything it's not becuase of lack of public interest.

  • (although there's one particular bigwig that owns the best part of our media as well as yours, and most certainly wouldn't approve of this kind of rampant free-thought)

  • Who the hell thought it was a good idea to use Ant and Dec to introduce this thing? They've got the political nous and media analysis skills of a plate of mushy peas. Christ.

  • How good would it be to bring this back now?, the characters we have in the world today would be hillarious, George bush, bin laden, Kim Jong Ill, ahmedinejad, Obama, Chavez the list is endless.

Lets all campaign to bring back Spitting Image..

  • hey and Gordon Brown and alistair Darwin and the expenses scandal it would be epic! i agree we should campaign to get it back

  • @kivster Yeah bring that back and special 1 tv

  • It is coming Back m8...

  • @kivster agreed- but only if the writing was up to scratch

  • @kivster chavez?

  • @kivster The Lefties that made this show are too much in love with all the statist that run the world for that to happen these days.

  • @kivster it would be great to see it back but it wouldn't be the same...back then it was totally new to take the piss out of political figures and serious broadcasters...now it happens all the time. Also, the people the show focused on usually had a rod up their arse, these days people are a bit more laid back.

  • @kivster They would probably be arrested these days. Or investigated. LOL.

  • @kivster We got them in France in a similar show called "Les guignols de l'info" (guignols of TV News) and believe it or not, it's not as great now as it used to be then (it began in the late 1980's) because they seem to be more conventional since we got that Berlusconi look-alike N.Sarkosy (bloody stinker!)

  • Awesome - it was a huge show with massive influence.

  • Brilliant upload. Thanks.
