  • His analysis of the connection between vulgar English and RP (5:26) is fascinating. It is informative at both a social level (as regards the traditional prejudices of the middle classes in the south towards the regional accents of the north), and linguistically. I find it ironic that we in the south should have adopted from the north what would once have been the vulgar form of "face" as a consequence of their innovation to another form. This is a very concise and revealing insight indeed.

  • I think Maritime English in Easteren Canada is the best and most unique English around, my family is from there and we have all different accents for all kinds of words that came on the boats of our forefathers who from England, Ireland, Scotland etc...its mixed together and made a very happy, stable and unique English and its the best in my mind!

  • Hey it's Harry Potter at 4:40! They all look like Harry Potter characters for that matter.

  • These are GREAT! I hope there's more to come. Do you know where I can find more? I tried surfthechannel and a couple of other free sites.
