All those scores are absolutely amazing, when I first heard of the nominees I was happy and sad at the same time, because one great winner also means four composers who would have deserved the Oscar just as well!

Okay so I recently take saw Avatar and I take back what I just said. It really deserves the nomination. The music for Avatar is awesome, but Up has the best themes.

I remember watching the performance of the scores, and I sat there nodding as I recognized each one... until Avatar. The music to that movie was just completely unmemorable. Mr Fox, Hurt Locker, Sherlock and Up all had beautiful, instantly recognizable music. Avatar's was just really bland. Star Trek should have been nominated instead.

How was Avatar nominated for this?? I don't remember a single song from the movie and I saw it twice. Star Trek or Terminator Salvation should've been nominated instead.

John Williams did not compose the music in Titanic. James Horner did, and he won the Oscar.

I really like what was shown of Hurt Locker's score: it served the movie without drawing attention to the score itself.

However, that unforgettable unspoken montage may seal the win for Up. Which is fine since Pixar can never have too many Oscars.
