i also had the pleasure of asking a few members what did they think of some fans saying that the nkotb version is better, and the respones was, well it should be seeing where it is a remake, we can do it over now and it will sound better than both versions theirs and ours, every updated version should sound better than the original because now you can add things, update music a little you know. we understand that their fans are going to stay true to them and thats fine.
Ambient are some real down to earth individuals, i asked how they feel about the nkotb, and they responded we are proud of them, no hard feelings at all, although we don't see them or talk to them much since they beacame huge, it's still all love. we did countless performances together back in the day...
They live near me. I met one of them once on the way to the trolley. He gave me a CD and publicity picture to give to WERS, where my daughter works. I honestly can't figure out why they aren't better known and appreciated. Ambient is excellent. They're so much better than New Kids.
so i recently had the pleasure of talking with several members of the group formerly known as the superiors, who now go by the name of Ambient, and it has been confirmed that the backround on the nkotb's version is actually the superiors, but they sat they dont care about that all they wish is that the nkotb had shown respect. they also state the stories we could tell would shock you...
wow thanks big trav, i know music well and i knew that was the same backround, im a white guy and a nkotb fan, but i knew that backround wasn't them. did the nkotb ever reach out to you guys, and mr. starr should be ashamed of himself. i will do everything in my power to bring this to the entire publics attention, of course nkotb fans will be biased, but i believe you guys are the better talent, and should be recognized....
for all that want to see what The Superiors been up too. We now go by "Ambient" look us up Google amabient live in Boston. Thank you BigTrav of The Group The Superiors/Ambiennt....
I heard about this version of the song from "The Billboard Book of Number One Hits". Maurice Starr discussed how The Superiors recorded this song first. But I didn't hear it until now. Thanks for posting :) It kind of sucks because both versions are similar to The Superiors should have been #1 all over the world with this song! :P
After seeing this posting on facebook, I must say that the newkids background vocals sound exactly like the other groups, I only hear a differene in the lead and the countdown, you be the judge...
i am a menber of the group the superiors yes we recorded step by srep back in 1986. i like the comment nkotb freak wrote that new kids fans are not aware that the superiors recorded the song first. we are back with a new album im on myspace and facebook. bigtrav195ent or travis fountain boston.
Hey Stevie! Thanks. And yes, Nkotbfreak confirmed my suspicion....most ppl don't even know this exists. However, when Njs4ever-dot-com interviewed Danny Wood (which can be listened to still, btw - summer 2007, BEFORE the reunion), Danny did mention this track. It sounds pretty good, actually. Hard to believe this song is actually OLDER than their Hangin' Tough material. It sounded so fresh back in '90, and still sounds peppy now...
We're proud to be playing NEW music from The Superiors (now known as Ambient) on Fullasoul Radio! BTW, nice post, Stevie...this one's hard to find!

Sorry but the New Kids on the Block version is better and no, the background vocals of this one and NKOTB's doesn't sound the same.
