To Fellow irishmen and those who wish they were, does anyone know the name of the gent who plays tin whistle. He's the best I've ever heard, but I'm too lazy to go to a search engine and actually look him up. Is he always with the Pogues?
That is Spider Stacy. He's an original and current member. If you want to see more there's a BBC documentary on YouTube (in 6 parts) about the song and video called "The Story Of...Fairytale of New York - The Pogues"
..an old man said to me,"won't see another one"
and then he sang a song,"The rare old mountain Dew"
I turned my face away, and dreamed about you...
That section put a lump in the throat more than once.
Epic song.
