When I was on the job back in 90, they had the SH series from Crane Carrier. They were very good packing trucks if you knew how to manipulate the compacter, you get 25 tons in before you loaded out.

You think this stop is bad? you should see the project bag stops. about 15 feet high and 30 feet long with sausage bags almost 100 pounds each and you had to be care of the huge rats that jumped out at you.

DSNY allows for competitive bidding so long as the equipment is pre-approved for bid. So two years ago Mcneilus built a truck to DSNY spec. The DSNY spec for rear loader has some lighting requirements which are non standard, and also requires controls for the packer to be on both sides of the truck, etc. Once a truck gets approval, they are eligible to bid. Evidently the mcneilus truck was approved and came in at a lower price.

the best was and still is is the leach2r it has a slow packer but it gets the job done its a video clip called nothings better than a leach

His loader doesn't even check the oncoming traffic...driver had to spot pedestrian on his own too!....I didn't hear driver pull the parking break! Shame on him! I would have gone to the cab and done it myself! Safety, safety! (lol)

I can´t believe, what I see. Is it really like this, that in N.Y are no dustbins for the house-garbage. Is it really laying on the pedestrian area only in these plastic bags? This has nothing to do with hygenie, has it? Thought americans are so big forwarders, but this is really old-fashioned. Something like this causes a big population of rats and mices, of insects and makes people ill. Yeah, american way of life, I think.

This isn't a house to house pickup.. This is outside of an apartment building, or a "flat" there is too much garbage produced by these places for bins to be used. It's not like it sits out there for long either. Building workers put it out the night before just like homeowners. In some cases they even pull it out just a few minutes before the truck gets there.

I would hate to get stuck working with that loader.He stands behind the truck when its backing up,doesnt tell the person to cross or wait and stands behind the hopper while its cycling.Hes an accident waiting to happen...

As if the garbage truck doesn't give it away not to mention the street signs, yellow cabs, the "about this video" thingy and the STUPID LIBERAL l in the orange jacket that tried to run behind the truck in the beginning as it was backing up. For those of you who drive you know exactly what I mean.. if they see you driving they start running from a block away to make sure they almost cause an accident BUT the worst are those liberals on bikes..
