It makes me so sad that Lauren wasn't able to play this role off-Broadway. This version is SO much better than what's on the soundtrack!!

This sounds like Lauren Kennedy here, the girl who played Cathy in the Chicago run. Definitely not Jessica Mulaskey.

the person who played Cathy in the original Off-Broadway cast was Sherie Rene Scott.

yep. And originally it was supposed to be Lauren Kennedy, who did it in chicago before off-broadway (to my knowledge) .
If you don't know already, an AWESOME cd called, "songs of jason robert brown" has some great stuff written by him on Lauren Kennedy's cd. Most notably, "if I told you now" and "letting you go"
