1974 Eurovision is a movie needed to be made: politics, revolution, rising pop stars, stories, stories stories...and oh yeah, some band from Sweden.

With that said, this is a cute little song.

It was quite an historic song contest in 1974!

Italy refused to broadcast the televised contest on state television

France withdrew after the French President, Georges Pompidou, died

AND Portugal's entry started a revolution and military coup !!!

Abba of course won it with Waterloo on 24pts, but Italy came 2nd with "Si" performed by Gigliola Cinquetti on 18pts, and Holland 3rd with I See A Star on 15pts. It was staged at The Dome in Brighton, United Kingdom and the presenter was Katie Boyle. There were THREE countries finishing 4th on 14pts each and they were: United Kingdom ("Long Live Love" by Olivia Newton John,) Luxembourg ("Bye Bye I Love You" by Ireen Sheer) and Monaco ("Celui qui reste et celui qui s'en va" performed by Romuald.)

This Dutch number is very nice and most of all it's a timeless song too. It's possible to wistle my favourite number of them. Also I whistled it in Holland's Got Talent 2010.

Yes. I did see this back then in 1974. And I do think this melody was the best. No doubt in my mind.

On the other hand...... would ABBA have got that much succes without their victory? And if not......... well, where would the popular part of music have been?

Later they split after ongoing bad treatment of McNeal. In 1980 she once again performed in the EVS then held in The Hague with the song Amsterdam.

well..this song would have won any other day, this was my favourite too, and the first album I also got at christmas I believe,

Abba won this year with waterloo..the rest is story, but between those songs it was close
