@DKlassicsG Yes, I'm not sure if you've seen The Elton John Keyboard Book, published by Hal Leonard, but it has the most accurate transcriptions I've seen in a mass-produced publication. They're not 100% spot-on, but they're close. I have a copy of two of the songs in it, and they're both very well done. You might check that one out, if you haven't already.

Yes, I'll get those done ASAP. Regarding "The One," it's a great song, but you're right, a little higher on the difficulty scale to teach on a video. It's one his more highly-produced songs, so there's more to it than just piano... a little harder to hear all of the chords as well!

Most of the sheets are inaccurate, some more than others.. I try to use both ear and sheets whenever I can, and usually I can figure out what's correct that way.

The Billy Joel Keyboard book is the most accurate collection I've seen so far.. one of my students had a copy. I believe it's got a white cover, and is published by Hal Leonard. You might try that one.

Good job, young man ...and, I submit to you that you can ...In fact, you cop the essential quality of Billy's voice quite well ...The reason you are a little shy with your voice on this performance is because Billy sings in this key naturally ...Your natural pitch for this song is at least a half tone lower ...A full step would be better ...Try transposing it down a step and you will be able to sing this piece freely and with the depth of feeling that matches the fine piano playing...

How do you guys feel about transposing songs for singing's sake?

I guess I'm a purist (with a good ear), and when it comes to classic songs like these I feel kind of "dirty" (he, he!) transposing from the original key.

I got slapped by reality when I was listening to Genesis / Phil Collins concert video a while back and heard they transposed a few songs down a half or whole step. If Phil Collins needs it, who cares if a lowly amateur with no voice like me does it? :-)

Vocal lessons with the right teacher can be great.. I've never bothered with them, but I'd love to have some pointers from someone who knows. My singing voice is nowhere near perfect, but there are some songs I love to sing, and this is one of them.. so that's what I did!

I hope your singing voice has better range than mine! It seems that "range" gets more and more narrow with every passing year...
