Im the current Tuba Section leader in the AristoCRAT of Bands now but seeing this video makes me wish I was in the band in 03....Great Job 2003 AOB....AristoCRAT 4 Life
I broke down and cried during this performance. The thought of Dungy while playing this song was too much to hold in. This performance was awesome. #crats
I think the best version of this would be FAMU and this version put together cause the soloists on this version just killed it and the singers on FAMU's version killed it
Great job aristocrats-- you all put a lot of heart into this-- I can feel it. There's a difference between performing and dedicating something such as a tribute...
This was not a performance, this a superior witnessing that captured the soul of all who heard and witnessed. Other bands may have performed this piece with great or limited success but The Aristocrats became an agent for God as the spirit came forth from their instruments and mouths. Commenting on how the Aristocrats were musically clear and balanced and played with a tone quality seldom replicated by any other college marching band still does not bestow upon them the glory that's due.
Wow. Annointed is the only word I can use to describe for this. I woulda been on that field cryin my eyeballs out. I wouldn't be able to play!!!!! The sound is so beautiful. The harmonies, my GOD. So on point and that second soloist!!!!! That boy/girl got an annointing!!!! And the singing. EVERYTHING!!!!!! Had me in my room worshipping and crying!!! the spirit was definately moving in that place.
All I can say is "WOW!!!!" That was very moving, Aristocrats! Beautiful arrangement. I loved the saxophone solos. Everything about this performance was outstanding.
This songs gives me the chills already. Its a wonderful song! To just to hear the instrumental/ marching band version is a blessing! It makes me want to join band again and praise the Lord. This saxophine player has more than talent, he plays the song with a lot of spirit. I love you saxophone player! You go boy!
TSU! Yall did it!!! I really enjoyed this arrangement! The sax. solo was sick. I enjoyed yours and SU arrangements but, I must say that this arrangement has alot of personality! Goog Job!
Love the sax soloists, the dancers, the band. You all did a superb job. I love your version better. You took the song, made it your own and touched me.
Beautifully done! I went to an HBCU (TU) and I have never heard a gospel song performed so nicely by a band. It gave me chills especially when the band started to sing. I gotta give it to you TSU, well done.
I have to disagree with you JMack. What is better in music than to generate emotions. Not every song should be blasted at the top of the range. While TSUs band can in no way out drill SU, they usually out perform them in musicality and sound.
Hate to say it but SU needs to take notes on this performance. You cannot overblow on this song..period. Outstanding job TSU! This is one performance I'll never 4get.
Right right..1:36 on the jags version is CRAZY! I like both arngmnts. If they were in competition for best arrangment..I think TS would come out on top. From what I'm reading in the posts most people agree
Ok i'm listening to this again and as the SAX PLAYER gives us inthe intro, you should know then that this is about to be an OFF THE CHAIN PERFORMANCE...... Burdens were lifted today. Someone felt so much lighter after they heard this.. Thanks again and again and again.
First off i'm WOWed as I listen for the 2nd time. I attended an HBCU and am accustomed to hearing praise and worship songs from our bands, but please know that this particular performance is quite moving. On a serious note, towards the end of the song I could feel the tears forming. The saxaphones are so relaxing and the players seem to be quite annointed. I kinda thought somebody was gonna break out and run... Now that would have been the story of all stories. WOW, well done. CONGRATS T.S.U.
honestly i love all 3 versions...lets keep something in mind here....its not about how they they play or what style they play it...its who they are playing it for...the one true and living god...thats what REALLY matters...
ok so ya'll are serious?? How about listening to FAMU do this with Star leading it. "The baddest band in the land" FAMU's Marching 100 performed it so much better.
@neophysique I love me some Famu i really do , I am a die hard fan of the marching 100. But tennesse state praise is what i do is killin the FAMU'S prasie is what i do. Tennesse just had more feeling and emotions in theirs. Famu cant alway be the best at everything.
First of all, that was beautiful. I play saxophone and the soloists, God bless ya'll. now to bandjunkie2008, are you even in college? if not shut up. if you still in high school, your opinions of COLLEGEIATE level bands are null and void. Little dude. lil young arse dude. people always got negative comments about the "U". oh well....there'll always be haters. lol he prolly a Southern reject.
all i would like to say is AMEN AND AMEN! the sax was smokin'. i really like the fact that it was gospel and not DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT CRAP! AND THEN HAVE THE BAND BREAK OUT AND SING THE ENDING KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS!
I love the solo's!!! Yall is 20 times better then southern...matter of fact any school is better then southern...maybe even high schools!!!. Anyways, point is yall sounded str8!!
Wow................We sounded great. You never understand how your hard work has actually paid off until you get a chance to step back and see. Great job AOB..........Hellified-4-lyfe
BEAUTIFUL and what a way to celebrate the life of a person that gave so much to TSU and the students he taught so much to on and off the field. The arrangement was very well done. The whole salute was very moving and you could feel the emotion coming from the band, especially when they sung the words Praise Is What I Do. God Bless Charles Dungey and the Aristocrat of Bands!!!
that was a great tribute to their late jzz instructor may god bless the jazz instructor n all of the tsu band members rest in peace to all that lost their life or loved ones
