Starting at 10 years old as a cub-scout, moving through territorial and regular army, being a prison-officer and then a first-aider at work I had almost 30 years of preparation for first-aid before I really needed it. I witnessed a guy run-down by a car and was the first to get to him and hold his head together; blood shooting out all over. The truest sign that I was doing it right was the respect and space the first-responders gave me when they arrived. Prepare for it and dare to do it folks.
Sad, but real. Thanks for posting. After stopping a few times to render aid myself, a few years ago I got certified and worked as an EMT so I could do more if needed. One of the times (before I was EMT) a guy crossing the road was hit by a car and was laying in the middle of the road near an intersection. Traffic was stopped by the light and people looked out the window of their vehicles while waiting for the light to change. No one got out to check or assist. My wife and I pulled over to help.
this winter on my way to work @ 5am I found an over turned car. I had to take a deep breath before going the car. I remember saying to myself, God I hope there's nobody in it. But I knew I had to check.I crawled down the embankment, emergency kit in hand to have a look. It's dark, cold, I'm the only one around. Nobody was in the car. You don't if you're going to be the sheepdog until your moment comes, then and only then do you find out. 1st aid & CPR trained cuz of vids like this. Thx nuttn
Unfortunately, I live in S. California where the snakes will sue sheepdogs and sheep for helping and not helping! Great video! I need to update my vehicle first aid kit now!
I can't believe no one had the gonads to haul-ass up there to help. But just as you said, people's minds are wired differently. I honestly couldn't just stand around that day because I was too lazy to see blood, while people are dying at the end of a hill. That's just not how I work.
That is phenomenal ! You have been through some stuff NutNFancy. Thanks for the info on the kits i'll put one together for the car today. I know you'll never know but this is helping a lot of people.
Thanks for sharing! I decided a few days ago to start building up a first aid kit and I also want to take some kind of basic first aid course. I got some training in the military, basically how to give first aid to gunshot victims, if body parts come off etc.
You really inspired me to build this kit faster, and your first aid kit level I & II videos really helped too.
i set out tonite to look for some ntnfancy videos that i had not seen......irony....i fell upon this one.Man.............the first nutnfancy video i ever watched was a first aid kit review.THIS VIDEO IS WHY I WENT BACK AND WATCHED SOOO MANY NUTNFANCY VIDEOS.the real deal.I'll be thinking about how i would deal with this for the rest of my life.THANKS just a tnper.
This is a very moving video. I just wanted to let you know that almost 2 years after posting it's still touching people. It really got to me and helped me in my personal growth towards self reliance and being prepared to help my fellow man or for whatever may present itself. I am very honored to be a part of TNP even if it's just as a spectator. :-) Thank you so much for sharing this story with all of us!
Finished building my level 1 first aid kit. You've encouraged me to always be ready and prepared. Thank you for your honesty and devotion. You're changing lives even now.
My scout group (14-15 yr olds) went mountain biking down in the Moab area on the white rim trail. (killer trail, awesome) and on day 3 a kid got going 25, hit a ditch, flipped over his handlebars, and broke his collar bone. Three scouts just stood there next to him doing nothing for 10 minutes. At which point I got there and immediately started to work. After I was sure he wasn't going into shock I hauled but back to the support vehicle and got help. The sheep mentality does
Thanks for sharing this story. I had seen this video back when it was uploaded, and it had a big effect on me. I couldn't help but remember it when I took my WFR (Wilderness First Responder) course through my school. Once again, Thanks.
I'v seen this video about 10 times now, sometimes people even my own family ask me why I have the things I have I.E. a practical medical kit and other things. I sometimes get embarrassed. My mind always races back to this video by Nutnfancy. Great job, Keep it up!
diffusion of responsibility a.k.a the bystander effect a.k.a genovese syndrome is the saddest thing when emergencies like this occur..... it really does take a sheep dog to fight it off and provide a life saving response.... I want to personally thank all tnpr's who subscribe and follow nutn here and the sheepdog concept, who would forget put their focus to reacting....if only we were all like this, unfortunatly that's not the case there always be sheep, but that what makes you all different :)
I have learned physical tells for some time. The facial expresions you show tell me it was a lot more life changing then you made it sound. Solid mind nutn..
WOW... O.O this video really made me think harder about what type of F A K I should have in my car. Thank You very much Nutnfancy. Thank You for giving me a graphic and different view of First Aid. Always enjoyed your vids, keep it going !
I have this philosophy that no human truly knows what they're capable of until they experience a life/death situation, fight or flight. Many can talk but until you've gone through it how will you know? Hopefully we never have to find out. Anyways, preparedness clearly goes a long way and training as well. Since subscribing to TNP and E2E I've learned a lot and know I've got yet further to go before I consider myself prepared. Vids are great, Nutn. Keep em comin!
Hey nutnfancy thanks for the video i live in that aria and i drove their to check it out and i'm glad someone was their with a clear enough mind to do something. I showed my friend this and now he has a level 3 first aid kit in his car at all times, I (being an EMT) always have one too i hope it never happens but always expect it to happen.
When I was in my 20's livng in Utah I was flying out at Point of the Mountain by the highway when there was a single car accident involving a young mom and her infant baby. I made sure 911 was contacted and ran over to do what I could.
I saw the same thing - everyone standing around doing nothing. I was very angry but didnt understand that they were in shock and incapable. I knew only the most basic first aid and had no kit but thank God they both survived.
You have to be real careful nowadays especially in California because if you help someone you could be sued. There a story a while back where a lady was rescued from a car wreck, and now shes suing the rescuer claiming he paralyzed her. I am not saying you shouldn't help people because of that but to be extremely careful. As an aside I would like to know if your going to do a leadership video and/or a mental toughness video?
I hear you talking about mental toughness and elude to leadership, but how does someone develop those needed qualities? I have a little bit of that because it was drilled into my skull as a punk kid in the US Navy and also as part of working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. I am not criticizing you. I would just like to hear your leadership philosophy and how teach someone mental toughness. Thanks-Grizzly

Thanks for Vid Nutn. As a young 18 year old I was had to do the same as yourself. looking left & right no one came to help, sadly a 18th month old girl died. Then when I was 24 the same thing happened again, this time with a 19 year old fella hit from behind by a car at night. Again look left & right people in shock, sadly he died on head injuries aswell.I joined the RNLI (Lifeboats) & Red Cross to prep myself for the furture. As you said when things go bad you better be able to say "Rock On"
This video really motivated me to take a interest in first aid. I would hate to every come across anything like what you described but if I did I would want to be prepared.
good video, ive heard similar stories and seen my share of accidents as well, luckily my dad is a doc and taught me alot about first aid, im also an eagle scout and one day when i was at a scout camp a kid decided to use a hatchet, well he nearly cut his foot off by the ankle, there was blood everywhere, if i didnt put pressure on his wound and get him medical attention soon he would have bled out pretty fast. nowadays i keep a first aid kit with me wherever i go.
My Dad was in a total loss accident on the met here many years ago. I dont know the details, but whatever it was, it was violent enough that the back axle actually bent and snapped under the strain. According to him, it was his seatbelt that saved him...
Thank god nowendays we as a society wear seat belts.
This video has really given me hope again that an human beings we can be something great together. I know now why you spend the time you do training and being prepared. It's not so you can be some badass. It's because you care about your fellowman and want to sacrifice to be there when people need you. You have inspired me so deeply and I want to thank you for that. I used to be an Eagle Scout and I am going to try to be one again so I can help people if the need arises. Thanks.
Im going to have to agree with Caleb about this video i am a recent TNPr mostly started watching u for your 10/22 videos since i myself bought one recently but these past couple months of watching your philosophy videos i have learned more about being prepared and life lessons then any other online source I love your channel and i love your integrity as a person keep up the good work we love every second we get to spend with you in your videos
This is a great video , it inspired me to create my own first aid kit . I learned alot from your first aid videos , thank you for uploading these videos.
hey heres just a technical question: i have received some first aid training by us army medics, have learned how to set up triage, about serious bleeding, turnikits (spelled correctly?) but how would one treat serious head/skull injuries? if the skull is cracked, i doubt pressure would help since it seems to me that would cause even more damage and possibly even force bone splinters into the brain etc...
Hey Nutnfancy, Snice I have been watching your videos for the past couple of months you have changed my view on life and many things. Because of this video I am going to try to always be prepared because I could save lifes I have some medical training (I'm a life guard) and since I am I should have things with me to help save lifes. Thank you for your videos and guidance your are a ocean of knowledge.
Its true My buddy and I found a man collapsed at a campgrnd in maine. My friend even though he has huge heart just froze. I nearly had to hit him to get him to snap out of it and go to the campgrnd office to call 911. I went over to try cpr but was unsure of myself and couldn't find a pulse. His face was bue. i went camper 2 camper looking for help and found his family. Lots of scream/crying- sad memory. The man Died of a mass. heart atck. Nothing i could have done they said, but i now know cpr
I haven't done anything so heroic as that before. I've helped a choking victim when I was younger and I have bandaged up a badly cut finger. (uh... duct tape and the top of a sock? Don't laugh, MacGuyver first aid works, just not ideal!) I'm better prepared now, but it's amazing that in both instances, people just stand there. I couldn't, and I have a certain element of pride about that. Doin the best I can, with what I got. Things like this help me 'got more' so I can do more.
blood and guts isnt fun. I want everyone out there to know-- just because someone is hurt it doesnt mean you can step out in traffic to help them. I've seen this 1st hand i was injured by a body being struck by a car and inpacting my leg when they got out of the car when I told them to wait inside the car-- while I dealt with the accident scene that was bad but i felt was manageable with some first aid until paramedics came. It was a sad day.
Sad thing is a lot of times for highways/interstates they design roads sometimes that it takes accident's over years before they modify them and change them to become safer, sad.
I can remember when I was younger f we were just going up the road I would not always wear my belt, Highway etc was i different now it doesn't matter if it's 5 minutes up the road, belt is on.
The bystander effect or Genovese syndrome is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases where individuals do not offer any means of help in an emergency situation to the victim when other people are present. You are a very brave person, i got sick on my first medical call and ended up being comforted by the victim. ever noticed paramedics and emts wear masks at major MVAs? its not just because of them germs, its also the reek of drying blood.
i've experienced the bystander effect on many of accidents. I'm not an EMT but I seem to find myself the only one running toward the scene directing people to help otherwise they would just stand around asking if people are ok. Thanks to Nutn I always have a first aid kit with me...along with my EDC knife, tool, and window punch.
Nutnfancy - You have inspired more people than you know. You are a true hero in every sense of the word. You saved lives that day, and because of videos like this, you have probably saved many more than you know indirectly. I want to thank you for all the hard work that you have done, are doing, and hopefully will continue to do in the future. I can personally speak that you have inspired me to strive every day to become a sheepdog. Thank you once again, and god bless.
Hey nutnfancy, really liked the video. After 17 years as a firefighter, EMT and paramedic, its amazing how the details of the first "big accident" are burned forever into a person's mind. After all the years and dozens of bad wrecks, it still amazes me that some people, though few, will still help a complete stranger in the worst time of their lives. I've arrived on scenes to find business men to homeless people giving their all to save someone they've never met/
Hi nutnfancy I am a 14 yr old 7th grader, and i have watched your vids close to a year and a half now and i want to just say thank you for all of your hardwork and philosophies you put into your videos. They have helped me defuse violent situations at school and have helped with recomending certain knives and totaly shooting down others that suck,(pocket bushman)so just keep up the hard work and thank you againfor all your time.
It's good to know and be reminded that good people are out there, thanks! My father (an ex-paramedic and now M.D.) stopped at an accident once to help, sadly enough one of the parties involved later turned around and attempted to sue him... I don't remember the situation if there was a death, there are so many instances (in Florida) of patients just dieing from old age or a nurse somewhere along the line making a mistake which results in my father (presumably the one with money) being sued..
Hey nutnfancy I wanted to take the time and thank you. I'm an 18 year old college student and I wanted to say that the advice and knowledge you share in your videos really has had an effect on me. My brother showed me your stuff and im glad he did because I have taken a lot out of your philosophy. I really respect the time you took to share this story because it represents the requirement to help a fellow man in need. You are someone to look up to, love what you do, respect you, truly thank you
For people who have the same ideology as Nutnfancy.... I suggest joining your local CERT team. The training goes light years a head of First Aid & will blow your mind! When you graduate you will be an asset to your community in times of emergency. In short.... you will be prepared for anything. Over & Out.
good job man you r the kind of person that reminds me how i am still alive today because a similar event happened to me back in 2008 and if it wast for who is now my best friend i would probably not be alive right now. so good job my friend you r a gentleman and a scholar.
this reminds me of the car accident i was in. it wasnt nearly as horrific. but when i was trapped in my car after it tipped over, people were just staring at me through the window. none of them moved until after i told them to try to open the door
Amazing story. I've never had to deal with anything like you did on that bad day.
God forbid, I pray if that day comes for me to assist, that I have the courage. I guess I will never know until I am tested. I just would hate myself if I was just to stand around waiting for someone else to do what I know is right.
[If you want!] to vaccinate yourself against the shock of a blood-and-guts accident, one way is to watch videos of accidents on the internet, for example on the uncensored video hosting site Flurl. I watched two videos on there of two seperate people who were run over by a truck and torn in half at the waist and are talking to bystanders. I saw another video of a woman fully consious on her stomach with a pulpy red puddle where her legs once were. Incredibly shocking the first time...
Thanks Nutnfancy. My search & rescue team and I were on our way to northern WI this fall to help with a missing child search. En route we happened on an overturned vehicle laying on the freeway. The single occupant had been the victim of a hit and run where she rolled multiple times and landed in oncoming traffic. We found the same crowd of people milling about but we had the mindset to respond (we aren't professionals), hacked through the windshield, assessed the situation and got help.
@oOBunnyackOo Next time it happens never go for the legs. That frees up his hands for stabbing. End it with a chin Jab. He is drunk he will go down fast and stay down. This situation will remind you you can't trust anyone. Keep your arms higher than the other guy at all times. That will give you a huge advantage. Glad your ok.
As much as statistics will prove that seat belts save lives. I personally can tell you that not having his seat belt on probably saved my brothers life once, as he was thrown from the drivers seat to the passengers side, and the drivers seat was obliterated. Another story, is of a workmates mother who was killed by a seat belt laceration from neck to abdomen. The lesson from that is to wear your seatbelt correctly.
@immovable1 Of course there will always be freak accidents where not wearing a seat belt actually increases your chances of surviving. But for the vast majority of crashes, an unrestrained passenger has significantly higher chances of being killed or severely injured.
In my 10 years experience as an EMT, I have seen more than my fair share of severe MVAs. I've never come across one where being unrestrained actually helped someone.
what you described was a prime example of diffusion of responsibility. the more people in a group, the less likely they are to respond. sadly, that's human nature for most people who don't have that "sheep dog" mindset. when i open carry in walmart no one EVER says a thing because of diffusion of responsibility, but when i carry in a gas station with only one other person in it, most of the time they ask about my gun. for most people, when they are in a group, they truly are sheep.
@TacticalTuckFard Exactly. Diffusion of responsibility is something that was covered in my training to become an EMT. If you come across a situation where medical help is required, don't just yell out to the crowd, "Someone call 911", or "Someone come and help me treat this person". You should pick someone specific from the crowd -- "You in the dark blue jacket, call 911 and get an ambulance", and "In the yellow jacket, I need your help to treat this person. Come here and do this..."
Hey Nutnfancy, I just wanted to say thank you for this video, I'd already seen your FAK videos before this, but this is what motivated me to make them. Today I was helping at a fundraiser when one of my friends wasn't thinking and cut his wrist with a box cutter. I ran over to the on-site FAK and patched him up. If it wasn't for your videos I'm sure I wouldn't have it in me to go to work (I HATE blood) or know exactly what everything is. You're a true inspiration and a wealth of information!
wow! and to think I almost skipped this just to get directly to your first aid kit. That video left a big impression on me. I've been in a similar circumstance and I know what you mean by the sheeple who just stand motionless. Unfortunate! Thanks so much for sharing this video and what may have been a bit tough to talk about. I'm hear to tell you that it was worth listening to this story. Thanks again!
@DerRelienT Thank you for sharing that First Aid story and it was awesome that you could provide assistance. Mental preparation for what to expect is job one. I am humbled that I have been able to help in this instance. Thanks for the support. -Nutnfancy actual

The fact that people can sit around and watch people dye disgusts me. Anyone who wouldln't help a dying 8 year old who just had his mother killed is mentally sick. You, your (ex) girlfriend, and the truck driver are good people.
That is an intense story. I only hope that I can be mentally equipped to handle a situation like that. From this video, I plan to build up myself up to that. I know personally, that this situation is relatively common. Thank you for sharing something so personal and for inspiring the many that watch your videos.
I've watched this video multiple times. This video has a strong impact on me every time I watch it. I have an enormous amount of appreciation for you and your stories Nutnfancy. The personal life experience and insight of yours is a great inspiration to all of us (your fans). I personally am very greatful to you for all of the time and effort that goes into making these extreemly important video's. TNP fan forever- Matt
This is gold. You tube should take this and plaster it all over the front page for people to see. Nutn, I'm watching your videos so I can build a first aid kit to take away with me when I go travelling with friends/family. I know no one else probably will so I am going to do my best to prepare.
Your videos are a great inspiration, you have no doubt saved countless people lots of grief, pain, bloodless, and god knows what else by posting your life lessons. TY
i was in a near fatal rollover, when i was driving my truck down the road on a rainy windy day in October in 2009, and i went off the road and panicked causing me to roll into a nearby field, and to this day im convinced that two things saved my life, my seat belt, and God. it was an unreal experience, and i came out without a scratch.
If it weren't for Seat belts, id be dead right now. I got in a car Accident and even with my seat belt on i got a Fractured Rib but if i dident wear one id be gone.
I really appreciate you sharing this story. We are influenced by are experiences in life. Sharing this experience from your life i think is constructive to helping others become influenced enough by the uncontrolable factors in life that, they too, just may decide to get trained, educated, and prepared to help others; be it medical assistance, safety hazards, or personal protect.
Good work and impressive style of connecting emotion to action.
I carry a pocket first kit in my satchel where my "geear check" I would pass. Watching, listening, and learning new things...keep it up nutn I carry a much more capable kit for hiking/camping I"ll be taking my oldest son in Sept 26. I've started the training now but it will take a lot of patience....Question: have you evaluated synthskin, butterfly stitch/sterile strips
i don't know who can sit around and watch someone in pane and dieing like that if i saw something like that i'll do everything i could to save as much lifes as i posible
Understand: Like Nutnfancy said, in an emergency situation you will most likely see blood, severe trauma to a person's body, deformities to the extremities, and possibly in more grave circumstances death. Especially when kids are involved, it can be very hard to deal with some of these sights. Someone may die while you are attempting to render emergency care. Take heart in the fact that YOU were the one that had the courage to act and did all you could to help, no matter the outcome.
this story reminds me of a scene in the mini-series band of brothers. The man is shot in the throat under enemy fire, still living, his buddies had to retreat. the fact that that was a true story was sobering to me, and so is this. just cause u have comrades or friends or just people with u, doesnt mean they'll help u
Awesome video not like I would expect anything less from you though. But I had a question at around 5:30 what brand/model of gloves are those you are wearing?
how can someone stand by and not help? in Norway we must by law carry a first aid kit in our cars and we must by law help if there are a accident whit injuries. also everybody who takes their drivers license on a car, moped or whatever you must take a fairly long first aid class
@halla369 That's a great program. A car is a dangerous thing, and any drivers must know how to help an accident victim. I assume that there are laws protecting people from lawsuits? Here in the U.S. it is somewhat common for a person who tries to help, but ends up accidently causing more harm, to be sued. Not too long ago, a bystander smelled smoke, thought the car was going to catch fire, and pulled the victim out of the car. The person ended up paralyzed, and sued their rescuer.
@jerseyemt In Norway if you can you shal help somone. if not you risk a ticket or even prison. and also in the U.S. there are som manny stupid lawsuits that we use to sitt and laugh of al the stupid things, but then again we are 4.8 milion people in a fairly big country so it is not so strange that bigger countrys got more lawsuits thouge... But out in the worl americans is lookt upon as a stupider people but that do't count for everyone hopefully.
@halla369 It's sad, but it's entirely true. I am an American, and unfortunately, most of the population of America just doesn't care. Most Americans are just looking out for themselves, and couldn't care less about their fellow man. It is very sad, but that is currently the state of our country. Thankfully, for every 10 idiots in my country, I'm hoping there is another sheepdog out there to offset the balance.
Great story to hear about and help people prepare. I could relate to that little boy with the head injury. Cracked my head when I was younger, you could see my skull. My mom was in minor shock from just seeing it so our neighbor (a nurse) drove us to the hospital. You remind me a lot of what my father was like, always willing to help strangers no matter what.
Hey nutnfancy, you mentioned you were ill-equipped: what did you do to stop the bleeding on the boy's head? Remove the rocks, apply a pad and pressure?
outstanding and inspirational - from a sheepdog in the making on the other side of the planet... thank nutnfancy, your strength speaks through your humility
this is an inspiration because ive always followed a reasoning where if someone was hurt and no one was helping them and i was not busy or doing anything I would go help because, i can't imagine myself in that situation.
Thank you for telling this story. It can be very hard for a lot of people to act in an emergency, maybe because they don't know what to do or how to help. The bystander effect is a very real part of human psychology. However these people can help the sheepdog, do not be afraid to tell bystanders to go for help, call 911, hold a bandage, fetch gear or whatever.
Point at someone and single them out with a task and they will very likely do it. Some people just need a little direction.
Wow...kinda hit hard there Nutn. Which is what you do best. Just last week I took my science class on a field trip, drove around a few mountains and hiked around. Dug up some fossils with the guide, etc....great time. When we got back to the school, one of my students was running in the parking lot and fell and scraped up his arm BAD. The cartilage was showing on his elbow. And the entire biology dept at a university didn't have a single level 2 kit....and the level 1 sucked. Got to make my own.
I wonder how these kids are doing mentally now....

Funny story...
The sheep mentality does

diffusion of responsibility a.k.a the bystander effect a.k.a genovese syndrome is the saddest thing when emergencies like this occur..... it really does take a sheep dog to fight it off and provide a life saving response.... I want to personally thank all tnpr's who subscribe and follow nutn here and the sheepdog concept, who would forget put their focus to reacting....if only we were all like this, unfortunatly that's not the case there always be sheep, but that what makes you all different :)

Grizzly907LA 7 months ago
I hear you talking about mental toughness and elude to leadership, but how does someone develop those needed qualities? I have a little bit of that because it was drilled into my skull as a punk kid in the US Navy and also as part of working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. I am not criticizing you. I would just like to hear your leadership philosophy and how teach someone mental toughness. Thanks-Grizzly

good video, ive heard similar stories and seen my share of accidents as well, luckily my dad is a doc and taught me alot about first aid, im also an eagle scout and one day when i was at a scout camp a kid decided to use a hatchet, well he nearly cut his foot off by the ankle, there was blood everywhere, if i didnt put pressure on his wound and get him medical attention soon he would have bled out pretty fast. nowadays i keep a first aid kit with me wherever i go.

My Dad was in a total loss accident on the met here many years ago. I dont know the details, but whatever it was, it was violent enough that the back axle actually bent and snapped under the strain. According to him, it was his seatbelt that saved him...

hey heres just a technical question: i have received some first aid training by us army medics, have learned how to set up triage, about serious bleeding, turnikits (spelled correctly?) but how would one treat serious head/skull injuries? if the skull is cracked, i doubt pressure would help since it seems to me that would cause even more damage and possibly even force bone splinters into the brain etc...

-Thanks

blood and guts isnt fun.

TheShadowtracker 1 year ago
As much as statistics will prove that seat belts save lives. I personally can tell you that not having his seat belt on probably saved my brothers life once, as he was thrown from the drivers seat to the passengers side, and the drivers seat was obliterated. Another story, is of a workmates mother who was killed by a seat belt laceration from neck to abdomen. The lesson from that is to wear your seatbelt correctly.
immovable1 1 year ago
@immovable1 Of course there will always be freak accidents where not wearing a seat belt actually increases your chances of surviving. But for the vast majority of crashes, an unrestrained passenger has significantly higher chances of being killed or severely injured.
In my 10 years experience as an EMT, I have seen more than my fair share of severe MVAs. I've never come across one where being unrestrained actually helped someone.
jerseyemt 1 year ago
what you described was a prime example of diffusion of responsibility. the more people in a group, the less likely they are to respond. sadly, that's human nature for most people who don't have that "sheep dog" mindset. when i open carry in walmart no one EVER says a thing because of diffusion of responsibility, but when i carry in a gas station with only one other person in it, most of the time they ask about my gun. for most people, when they are in a group, they truly are sheep.
TacticalTuckFard 1 year ago
@TacticalTuckFard Exactly. Diffusion of responsibility is something that was covered in my training to become an EMT. If you come across a situation where medical help is required, don't just yell out to the crowd, "Someone call 911", or "Someone come and help me treat this person". You should pick someone specific from the crowd -- "You in the dark blue jacket, call 911 and get an ambulance", and "In the yellow jacket, I need your help to treat this person. Come here and do this..."

The Utah Mountains are a death trap. You can't go a week without hearing about some kind of freak accident. The winter, especially, is really bad.
wizemanful 1 year ago

Good video, sad story but I couldn't help laugh at some parts like 12:26 - 12:27 and 15:15 - 15:16.
Like some guy asked, how did you treat the boy with the embedded rocks?

Awesome video not like I would expect anything less from you though. But I had a question at around 5:30 what brand/model of gloves are those you are wearing?

Makes you respect the Boy Scouts, who emphasize first aid and emergency preparedness from day one.

how can someone stand by and not help? in Norway we must by law carry a first aid kit in our cars and we must by law help if there are a accident whit injuries. also everybody who takes their drivers license on a car, moped or whatever you must take a fairly long first aid class

@halla369 that is a great idea, should be adopted by all countries in my opinion.
